This is the tier you buy for the finish. UnderCover sprays the lid at its own paint line to the OEM code you pick, so the closed truck reads as one color from the cab to the back of the tailgate instead of a black panel dropped onto a painted body. UnderCover does not guarantee a 100% match, and says so in its printed warranty: paint varies from one truck to the next with age and sun, and some variance is normal.
Carpeted Underside, Not Bare Plastic
Raise the lid and the underside is a gray carpeted headliner with the Elite LX badge embroidered into it, rather than the bare textured plastic the cheaper one-piece covers show. It is the difference you notice every time the lid is open, and it is the quickest way to tell an Elite LX from an Elite at a glance.

UnderCover rates the closed Elite LX at 500 lb evenly distributed, the highest figure it publishes for anything in its current range. Evenly distributed is doing real work in that sentence: it means weight spread across the lid, not a point load in one spot, and it applies to the lid closed and latched.
Key Lock and an Integrated Thumb Lock
Security runs through a key-locking latch with an integrated lock mechanism, worked from a one-hand rotating handle with a hinged cap over the cylinder. Because the lid overlaps the bed caps and the tailgate, one turn of the key secures the lid and the tailgate together, so the whole bed is behind one lock.

The lid sits over the bed caps and across the tailgate rather than down inside the bed rails, so the rails themselves are under cover and the closed truck presents a continuous painted surface from the bulkhead to the back of the tailgate.
Struts Up, and Off in a Minute
Two gas struts take the weight and hold the lid up while you load, with a prop rod backing them up and a lanyard pull strap for pulling the lid back down. When the load is taller than the bed the lid comes off the four-bar hinge entirely, and the brackets stay bolted to the truck while it is off.
Bolted On, Nothing Drilled
The brackets clamp and bolt to the inside of the bed, and no UnderCover installation sheet for a one-piece cover asks you to drill the truck. A plastic drop-in bedliner is the exception that does need work: it may need minor trimming so the brackets seat flat. Trim the liner and never the mounting hardware, because modified hardware voids the warranty.
The Paint Warranty Is the Point

Installation

The mounting brackets bolt and clamp to the inside of the bed, the four-bar hinge on the lid drops onto the front brackets, and the struts snap onto the rear brackets by hand. Nothing is drilled into the truck.
The bracket positions are measured from the back face of the bulkhead, and on this application UnderCover's sheet gives the front bracket at 16 3/4" and the rear bracket at 46 3/4". Those figures are for this part number only; a sibling part on another bed uses different ones.
This platform's sheet is one of the ones that prints a torque figure: the latch mounting bolts and the lock strike go to 8.5 ft-lb (100 in-lb). Most UnderCover one-piece sheets print no torque at all, so use the figure on the sheet that came with your cover rather than one from a sibling application.
The hardware kit for this truck includes 4 rubber filler strips. They slide up between the plastic bed rail cap and the metal bed rail at each clamp position, and they go in before the brackets do.
No cutting or drilling is done to the truck itself. A plastic drop-in bedliner is a different matter: UnderCover's own sheet says a drop-in liner will need some minor trimming so the mounting brackets seat properly. A spray-in liner needs no work. Any modification is made to the liner and never to the UnderCover mounting hardware, because modified hardware voids the warranty.

Warranty. UnderCover's printed terms for the one-piece covers warrant the ABS polymer structure of the Elite LX to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product, and warrant the gas and hydraulic lift struts and the mounting hardware for one (1) year from the date of purchase. On top of that, covers painted at UnderCover's own factory carry the UnderCover Lifetime Paint Warranty: for the life of the product the exterior paint will not abnormally fade or peel from a material or workmanship defect faster than the paint on the truck it is fitted to. That paint term is what this tier is for, and it is explicit that covers not painted at the UnderCover factory are excluded, so an unpainted lid finished by your own body shop is covered for structure and components but not for paint. UnderCover also does not guarantee a 100% paint match. The warranty runs to the original purchaser, on the original truck, when the cover is bought from an authorized dealer, and registration and claims are handled by the manufacturer. Four conditions in the printed terms catch people out more than the rest. Do not drive with the lid in the open position and never tie it down while it is open, because that loads the front hinges and can crack them, and that damage is not treated as a manufacturer defect. When the lid is closed it should be locked with the tailgate up. Use only cleaners, waxes and products labeled safe for use on plastics, and keep insecticides and solvents off the lid. Any trimming needed to fit the brackets is done to the bedliner and never to the mounting hardware, because modifying the hardware voids the warranty. Free shipping. The Elite LX is a rigid one-piece lid in a carton a little over seven feet long, so it moves by freight rather than by parcel carrier, and it still ships free within the contiguous United States. The carrier will contact you to arrange a delivery window, and delivery is to the curb. Inspect on delivery. A long, shallow carton is the part that takes the knocks, and a painted lid shows a scuff that a black one hides, so open it and look at the finish before you sign for it. If the carton is crushed, torn or soaked, write that on the delivery paperwork and tell us the same day so we can get a replacement moving.
