The UWS 90" topside tool box sits on top of the bed rail rather than down in the bed, so the entire bed floor stays free and you load the box standing beside the truck instead of climbing in. It runs 90" long, 13.75" wide and 17" tall for 11.7ft³ of storage behind two doors that drop down on aircraft-grade stainless steel cables. The tub is one-piece 0.058" aluminum, the lockable T-handle gives one-hand access, and the MicroSeal gasket keeps rain and road grit out. Finished in gloss black powder coat. Two mounting legs and two keys are in the carton; the mounting bolts are not.

11.7ft³ Without Losing the Bed Floor Mounted on top of the bed rail, the box takes up rail space rather than bed space. The floor stays completely clear, which is why topsides are the default on flatbeds, dump bodies and service trucks that still need to haul.
Double-Door With Stainless Steel Aircraft Cables The double-door design drops down and is caught by aircraft-grade stainless steel cables that carry the weight and hold the opening steady. Cables are a wear item and UWS catalogs them as a replacement part, so a frayed cable is a cheap fix rather than a dead box.
One-Hand Access With a Lockable T-Handle The T-handle is keyed and folds flat when it is not in use, so there is nothing sticking out to catch a sleeve or a strap. One hand opens it, which matters when the other one is full.
One-Piece 0.058" Aluminum Tub Extra-thick aluminum, formed from a single sheet so there is no seam along the floor. It will not rust where the finish gets chipped, and at this length that thickness is what keeps the box from twisting on an uneven mount.
MicroSeal Gasket A full-perimeter gasket seals the door to the tub against rain, road spray and dust. It is the difference between dry tools and rusty ones after a wet week, and it is a stocked replacement part.

Fit guidance: This is a universal-fit box, so measure rather than match a model year. You need 90" of straight rail to bolt to, 13.75" of width across the rail and 17" of clear height above it. Because it sits above the rail it will block a tonneau or a cap and it is visible in the mirrors, which is the accepted trade for keeping the bed floor free. The box is symmetrical and the legs bolt either way round, so it works on the driver or passenger side. Mounting bolts are not included.

The legs and keys ship with the box; the bolts do not, because the correct fastener depends on whether you are going through a bed rail, a stake pocket or a flatbed frame. Set the box up, level it, mark through the legs and check what is behind the rail before you drill. Get a hand to hold it: at 90" this box is awkward to balance alone. UWS is explicit that a tool box is not a place for flammables or hazardous material, so no fuel cans, solvents, propane or cutting torches. Never load past the vehicle manufacturer's rated capacity.

UWS is short for United Welding Services, and the name is the point. The aluminum boxes in this line are designed, fabricated and welded in Florida rather than assembled from imported panels, and the tub is formed from one piece of extra-thick aluminum so there is no seam along the floor of the box for water to work its way into. UWS is part of the CURT Group, a Lippert company, which is what puts a national warranty and a real replacement-parts program behind a box that is still built in a single plant. Handles, gas struts, lid gaskets, striker brackets and keys are all cataloged parts you can buy years later, which is the practical difference between a box you repair and a box you replace.
A topside is the right answer when the bed itself has to stay usable. Because the box sits above the rail on its two legs, you keep the full bed floor for pipe, lumber or a pallet, and you get at your tools from ground level with the tailgate shut. The trade-off is height: this box stands 17" above the rail, so it is visible in the mirrors and it will not live under a tonneau. On a service truck or a flatbed that is exactly what you want, and the drop-down doors put the whole opening in front of you instead of making you reach over a lid.

Where does the 90" topside box actually mount?
On top of the bed rail, standing on its two included legs, not down inside the bed. That keeps the bed floor completely clear and puts the doors at a height you can work from while standing next to the truck. You need 90" of straight rail to bolt through.
Can I still use a tonneau cover or a cap?
No. The box stands 17" above the rail, which is where a tonneau or cap needs to sit. If you want a covered bed, look at a UWS crossover box, which mounts down between the rails, or a side box that sits inside the bed wall.
Why two doors?
Two doors on a box this long keeps each one light enough to handle and lets you open just the end you need. It also means you are not swinging a six-foot door out into a traffic lane.
Is the mounting hardware included?
The two legs and two keys are in the carton, but the bolts are not. UWS leaves them out because the right fastener depends entirely on what you are bolting to. Budget for hardware suited to your rail.
How is the door supported when it is open?
Aircraft-grade stainless steel cables catch the door and hold it. They are stainless so they do not rust into a weak point, and if one is ever damaged the door cable is a stocked UWS service part.
What does the warranty cover?
A limited lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials, one year on the finish and one year on parts. Wear items and damage from overloading or improper installation are excluded. T-handles, cables, gaskets and keys are all available as UWS service parts.

Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
