This brite white 18-ga steel side-rail box, part 185-3-04, is the 41" size in Weather Guard's current Lo-Side range. At 58.5 lb, it gives you 3.0 ft³ of storage in a body measuring 41" L x 17" W x 13" H. Going steel adds 21.5 lb over the aluminum 184 of the same length.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit a Silverado 1500?

It is on our fitment list for that truck. Rail lengths vary by bed, so measure the usable length of your side rail against this 41" box before ordering.

Which side of the bed does it go on?

It mounts on top of one bed side rail. Weather Guard's sheet asks you to square and level the box to the bed and confirm the lid opens fully without hitting anything.

Do I have to drill my truck?

Yes. Weather Guard's Lo-Side install sheet sets blind fasteners in drilled holes, and a stake pocket that blocks a clamp needs a 1/2" hole. Check under the vehicle for fuel lines, the tank and wiring before you drill. For aluminum beds, the bolt kit carries an upfit kit with zinc-rich primer for the holes.

Can I run it next to a crossover box?

Yes. Weather Guard's sheet says to mount the saddle or crossover box first, then set the Lo-Side box with a 1/8" gap between the two and confirm the lid opens fully.

How does the key coding work?

The lock has no preset code: it learns the first Weather Guard key (codes B001 to B050) you code it with, and that cannot be changed later. Each box ships with one pair of matching keys, and further coded boxes can learn the same key. Note your key code, as it cannot be looked up later.

Aluminum or steel?

Weather Guard builds the aluminum Lo-Side boxes with a 15-ga body and the steel ones at 18-ga. Steel weighs more: in the 87" size the aluminum 164 is 60.5 lb and the steel 165 is 109 lb.

Here's the short version. Follow Weather Guard's install sheet (below) for the exact positions and hardware.

  1. Code the locks with your key before first use. Once a lock is coded it cannot be changed. Lock and unlock it to test.
  2. Mount the box with the supplied bolt kit, using the blind fasteners and 5/16" flat washers at the truck box rail as shown in the figures.
  3. On an aluminum bed, use the aluminum upfit parts and coat every drilled hole with zinc rich primer.

    Weather Guard backs this box with its Limited Lifetime Warranty, issued by Werner Co.: the box is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for its expected lifetime, counted from the day you buy it.
    • Only the original purchaser is covered, and coverage ends if the box passes to a new owner.
    • Every claim needs a copy of the original sales receipt, so keep your Prestige Truck order receipt with your records.
    • Werner Co. picks the remedy: it repairs the faulty part or replaces the whole box at no charge for parts or labor, or it may refund what you paid or issue a credit toward a new Weather Guard product.
    • Not covered: normal wear and tear, cosmetic rust, scratches, accident damage, repairs Werner Co. did not authorize, misuse, overloading, or a box that was not mounted or used as Weather Guard's written instructions describe. Great set of boxes
