What is a bull bar?
A bull bar covers the least of the three, and none we list has headlight guards. The Go Rhino Charger RC2 is the plain bar, in polished stainless or black, with pre-drilled holes for up to two 6 inch auxiliary lights.
The RC2 LR swaps those holes for light cut-outs: one 20 inch bar, or two or four 3 inch cube lights. The RC4 LR is the 4Runner bar, with a 2.5 inch tubular main hoop and an adjustable mount for most 20 inch single-row LED light bars. One owner on a 2016 4Runner says the only issue was finding a light bar that fit well.

What is a grille guard?
A grille guard is the bigger frame. Go Rhino's 3000 Series has a 2 inch top tube and a 3 inch step tube with a step pad, and it is assembled before it mounts.

The 3100 Series StepGuard is sold with or without bolt-on brush guards. On the 2021 to 2025 F-150 you can buy it either way, and the brush guard version costs about 80% more. We list the brush guard version only for that F-150 and the 2019 to 2021 Silverado 1500 (plus the 2022 LTD). The 2019 to 2024 Ram 1500 part (not the Rebel or TRX) and the 2018 to 2020 F-150 part come without brush guards.

What the names mean
The word is used loosely, and our own pages show it. The 3000 Series spec reads "Headlight guards: Not included (center guard only)" and "Type: w/o Brush Guards", so there brush guards are the headlight hoops.
An owner who fitted the 3100 to a 2021 F-150 uses the word for the whole guard:

Of the five reviews on file for the 3000 Series, two call it a push bar and another a front step bar. If the part stops at the center of the grille, it is a bull bar or a center grille guard. If hoops wrap the headlights, it is the fuller guard that "brush guard" usually points to.
Winches, sensors and cameras
For a winch, look at the replacement bumpers below. The Go Rhino BR11 for the 2019 to 2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 is listed winch-ready for winches up to 16,500 lb (winch sold separately), and the Trailline and Rockline for the Jeep Gladiator are listed for up to 12,000 lb with a winch plate. The Element and the RSP are listed without a winch mount, and the HDX Bandit listing names none. The 3100 listing names a winch plate kit for recovery winches up to 9,500 lb, but the kit is a separate part we do not list.
Our 3100 listing says the StepGuard may interfere with forward-facing sensors and that some versions do not work with active park assist, adaptive cruise control or some driver alert and safety packages. The RC2 for the Tundra and Sequoia is listed as not compatible with Dynamic Laser Cruise Control, some other RC2 kits do not work with Toyota Safety Sense, the F-150 RC2 LR parts are for trucks without Park Assist and the RC4 LR listing says the bar may interfere with forward cameras or sensors. The HDX Bandit lists parking sensor provisions on late-model Chevrolet trucks, and N-Fab publishes no sensor provision for the RSP. With a front camera or sensors, read the fit notes for your part number first.
How each one mounts
The bull bars, grille guards, HDX Bandit and RSP are all listed as bolt-ons; what differs is the trimming. Some RC2 applications trim a plastic deflector or the lower valance, the RC4 LR lists cutting or removing the lower valance and the 3100 lists cutting factory plastic or removing tow hooks on several trucks. The Element has vehicle-specific mounting and no install guide to download, so ask us your install questions before you order.
Most RC2 owners who give a time report 20 minutes to about an hour and a half. One says it took two people 6 hours and they made new mounting brackets because the originals were too short, and another with no factory tow hooks had to cut the plastic under the bumper. Two RC2 owners found the instructions limited or vague (another calls them straightforward) and two RC2 LR owners wanted more detail on the install or the light bar.
3000 Series owners report under an hour to about 2 hours. A 3100 owner who took about 3 hours wanted the directions to say how much plastic to cut by the tow hooks.
Replacement bumpers
A replacement bumper takes the factory bumper's place instead of mounting in front of it. The three below start above $1,000. The Go Rhino Element has a fixed or power-actuated hide-away light bar mount (set by part number, and the hide-away costs more) and tabs for up to 3 pairs of cube lights.

The Westin HDX Bandit, listed for the 2020 to 2023 Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD only, is the closest of these bumpers to a grille guard, with 2 inch full wraparound wing tubes, 1 1/2 inch headlight protection tubes and honeycomb mesh with a removable center screen. It also has a built-in 2 inch receiver and two bow shackle mounts rated 9,500 lb.
