The Vision runs an LED strip the full length of each board. It lights the step brightly as the board deploys for a door, then settles to an accent glow along the rocker in the color you set from your phone.
Out with every opening door
Day to day the Vision needs no input: open a door and the board swings down, close the doors and it folds back beneath the body. Each board is rated to 300 lb per door.
Pick the glow, keep the step
Color and lighting functions are chosen in the AMP Research Smart Series app for iOS and Android, while the board underneath is corrosion-resistant aluminum rated to 300 lb per door. The lighting changes the look; the step still does the work.

What does the lighting actually do?
An LED strip runs the full length of each board. When the step deploys it lights the step fully so you can see your footing; when the step retracts it dims to an accent glow along the rocker panel in the color you choose.
Do I need the app for the steps to work?
No. The boards deploy when a door opens and retract when the doors close without any phone involved. The AMP Research Smart Series app, for iOS and Android, is where you set lighting colors and functions and can deploy or retract the boards on demand.
Is it plug-and-play?
The Vision picks up the door signal from a module plugged into the OBD-II port, but installation still includes electrical work. Its guides connect the harness with crimp or Posi-style connectors, wire in a separate lighting controller and, where the vehicle calls for it, tap a factory wire or run a lead to the battery.
Will I have to drill, and how long does it take?
Most Vision applications drill mounting or wire-pass holes, as the guide for your vehicle shows. Vision guides quote 2 to 5 hours depending on the vehicle and grade the install at their experienced level, and AMP Research recommends a professional fit.
How do I look after it in winter?
Salt, mud and ice can collect in the linkages. Clean the front and rear linkages with a pressure washer, steering the spray away from the motors, then apply dry-film silicone to the pivots and open and shut the doors to spread it. Do not use grease, oil, WD-40 or penetrants, and keep silicone, wax and protectants off the board itself.
What warranty comes with it?
AMP Research backs the PowerStep Vision with a 5-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, on boards installed per the supplied instructions. It pays for repairing or replacing the defective part but not the labor to remove or reinstall it, belongs to the original purchaser, and ends when the boards come off their original vehicle or that vehicle is sold. Misuse, accidents, improper installation, modification and road hazards are excluded.
