All New ARB Brushless Compressor

ARB's Australian channel on the brushless range: the electronic speed control, the active cooling fans, the diagnostics and where the extra 50 percent of output comes from. The same material as the introduction film, filmed and narrated for ARB's home market.

Air Lockers And Onboard Air

The original job of an ARB compressor: feeding ARB Air Lockers. ARB explains how the compressor and the locker system work together and why on-board air changes how you drive difficult terrain. Worth three minutes if lockers are anywhere in your build plan, because this compressor is already the right air source for them.

The ARB Story

How a Melbourne garage operation building bull bars for outback tourers in 1975 became the southern hemisphere's biggest 4x4 accessories maker. Seven minutes on the company behind this compressor, filmed by ARB itself across its Australian factories and proving grounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

What does brushless actually get me?

ARB's figure is 50 percent more output than its brushed compressor, plus active cooling, electronic speed control that holds performance as things heat up, live fault reporting and IP67 sealing instead of IP55. Fewer wear parts is a side benefit rather than the headline.

Will it work with my existing ARB air accessories?

Yes. ARB states the brushless range is compatible with its existing air accessories, hose kits and Air Lockers, so upgrading the compressor does not mean replacing the plumbing.

Do I still need relays?

No. The brushless design eliminates the relays entirely, which removes a mounting job and a set of connections from the installation.

What is the duty cycle?

100%, as published by ARB for this model.

How much current does it draw?

ARB publishes a maximum of 90 A. On the twins the staggered power on sequence reduces the spike at start up, which is what lets a brushless twin start on a vehicle with a smaller charging system.

Why is there no installation video?

ARB has published no compressor installation film for any model, brushed or brushless. We checked every product page and both official ARB channels. The installation guide in the Resources tab is the authoritative source, and we would rather show you nothing than a fitting video for a different product.

Excellent quality and super fast

Excellent quality and super fast inflating tires; better instructions for use would be nice and an easier way of detaching air locker wires from harness for those of us not needing them to keep install clean.

Once installed and fully plumbed

Once installed and fully plumbed this air compressor is ridiculously amazing. Installation was pretty easy. Air up is so much faster than before. 10/10 recommend for anyone looking at this unit.

Works good

This is a good compressor it does run hot so I ran a good stretch of metal line over to a water filter before tying into my Apex hose reel. It’s a pretty good set up.

Compressor works great and starts

Compressor works great and starts up immediately. I like how there's a delay between the two motors starting up decreasing the initial draw off the battery. Starting it up gets people's attention around you since it's a little strange sounding if you don't know why that's intentional. Performs better than my last ARB compressor and inflates my 35" tires quickly and with ease. I would have rated this 5 stars except for two things I would improve. Each motor has its own power plug which requires running them separately and joining them together at the fuse. I think these could have been combined to ease installation. The other improvement would be where you join the two motor wires to the fuse. The terminals provided to crimp to the ends are unisulated and stick out unprotected. I had to use other terminals and shrink tube to protect them. Both things are small but would ease…

Not directly backwards compatible. . .

I was expecting something a little more put together for all the fan fair and the marketing materials that came in the box. Don't get my wrong it's a nice compressor and the brushless motors are a welcomed addition, but the fact that the bolt pattern doesn't match the previous version and the wiring harness still feels like a bit of an after thought was a little discouraging at this price. . . There really is no clean way to connect the two motor connections, they are completely at odds with one another, I ended up having to just jam them back behind the unit and undo most of the electrical tape wrap job.
