All New ARB Brushless Compressor

ARB's Australian channel on the brushless range: the electronic speed control, the active cooling fans, the diagnostics and where the extra 50 percent of output comes from. The same material as the introduction film, filmed and narrated for ARB's home market.

The ARB Story

How a Melbourne garage operation building bull bars for outback tourers in 1975 became the southern hemisphere's biggest 4x4 accessories maker. Seven minutes on the company behind this compressor, filmed by ARB itself across its Australian factories and proving grounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

What does brushless actually get me?

ARB's figure is 50 percent more output than its brushed compressor, plus active cooling, electronic speed control that holds performance as things heat up, live fault reporting and IP67 sealing instead of IP55. Fewer wear parts is a side benefit rather than the headline.

Will it work with my existing ARB air accessories?

Yes. ARB states the brushless range is compatible with its existing air accessories, hose kits and Air Lockers, so upgrading the compressor does not mean replacing the plumbing.

Can I connect the clamps either way round?

Yes, and that is a deliberate feature. The portable kits include a polarity correction harness so either blue alligator clamp connects to either battery terminal without harm.

What is the duty cycle?

90%, as published by ARB for this model. ARB's Australian site lists 100 percent for the portable brushless range while the US product record says 90 percent. We print the US figure because this is a US market listing and it is the more conservative of the two, and we have flagged the disagreement rather than picking the flattering number.

How much current does it draw?

ARB publishes a maximum of 90 A. On the twins the staggered power on sequence reduces the spike at start up, which is what lets a brushless twin start on a vehicle with a smaller charging system.

Why is there no installation video?

ARB has published no compressor installation film for any model, brushed or brushless. We checked every product page and both official ARB channels. The installation guide in the Resources tab is the authoritative source, and we would rather show you nothing than a fitting video for a different product.
