The Compressor Range Explained

ARB's own walk through of how the single and twin, portable and on-board compressors differ, and which job each one is actually for. Useful if you are still choosing between them rather than committed to this one.

Why A Premium ARB Compressor

ARB walks through what separates its compressor line from bargain units: sealed motors, real duty cycle ratings, serviceable filters and the electrical kit that comes standard. If you are comparing this against a parts store special, it is the honest comparison from the people who build it.

The ARB Story

How a Melbourne garage operation building bull bars for outback tourers in 1975 became the southern hemisphere's biggest 4x4 accessories maker. Seven minutes on the company behind this compressor, filmed by ARB itself across its Australian factories and proving grounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Single or twin, which do I need?

On 33" tires and without air tools, this single is the right amount of compressor. On 35s and up, or if you want to run tools, the twin portable CKMTP12 doubles the air, raises the pressure to 150 psi and adds a tank.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It clamps to the battery and the hose comes with it. That is the entire setup.

Can I plug it into a cigarette socket?

No. It draws up to 32 A and the battery clamps are supplied for that reason. An accessory socket cannot supply it.

How long can I run it for?

ARB rates the duty cycle at 50 percent, 30 minutes on and 30 minutes off. A four tire air up on 33s from trail pressure sits well inside that.

What is the difference from the CKMA12?

The compressor is the same. The CKMA12 is the on-board version that bolts into the vehicle and wires to a dash switch. This is the portable version in a case with clamps and a hose.

Why is there no installation video?

There is nothing to install, and ARB has published no compressor installation film of any kind for any model in the range.
