The BEDSLIDE 1500 MAX Extension in 68" x 48" is the version of this tray for people who are tired of climbing into the bed. Where the Classic, Contractor and Heavy Duty trays run out to 75% of their length, the MAX runs out to 100%: the deck clears the tailgate completely, so the far end of the load finishes up in front of you rather than an arm's reach inside the truck. It carries 1,500 lb evenly distributed on a WEATHERDECK composite deck with BEDTRAX rails, four D-ring tie-downs and the full perimeter guardrail kit included, and it rides on heavy duty cam-follower bearings with a hard latch so it will hold that load out at full stretch. The trade is height and weight: the MAX sits on a 7" profile rather than the 4.5" of the other series, and at 355 lb it is a two person install. 1,500 lb of Evenly Distributed Capacity
The 1500 MAX Extension is rated to carry 1,500 lb spread across the deck. Evenly distributed is the operative phrase and it is worth reading literally: the rating assumes the load is spread over the tray rather than stacked on one corner or concentrated over the extended end. Loaded that way, this tray will take tools, materials and site gear on a working truck.

100% Full Extension, Not Three Quarters
This is what separates a MAX from the rest of the BEDSLIDE range. The deck runs all the way out, clear of the tailgate, so the far end of the tray finishes up where you are standing instead of still inside the bed. Everything on the deck becomes reachable without climbing in, which is the whole point if you load heavy or work out of the truck all day. The other BEDSLIDE series extend 75%.

WEATHERDECK Composite Deck
The deck is BEDSLIDE's own WEATHERDECK composite rather than plywood or bare steel. Measure the inside of the bed floor and dry fit the rails before committing to any holes. BEDSLIDE specifically advises against installing over a bed liner, because liners vary in thickness and profile and the tray may need adjusting to sit flat and run true. On an aluminum bed, use BEDSLIDE's aluminum bed kit, part BSA-HALUMKT: fastening steel directly to an aluminum bed invites galvanic corrosion, and BEDSLIDE's warranty excludes corrosion caused by improper installation. The tray weighs 355 lb, so lift it in with two people and check the deck runs cleanly through its full travel and latches in every position before you load it.

Will the 68" x 48" fit my truck?

BEDSLIDE does not list this size in its published Application Guide chart, so the honest answer is: measure. The 68" x 48" figure is the OUTER dimension of the tray including the handle, built to a .25" tolerance. Measure the inside of your bed floor, allow for a liner or mat if you run one, and compare. We would rather tell you to get a tape measure than invent a fitment list.

What does 100% extension actually mean?

The deck travels its full length, which puts the whole tray clear of the tailgate rather than leaving the last quarter of it inside the bed. In practice that means you can reach anything on the slide while standing behind the truck, including whatever is at the very back of the deck. This is what separates the MAX Extension models from the rest of the BEDSLIDE range, which run 75%.

What does 1,500 lb capacity actually mean?

It means 1,500 lb spread evenly across the deck, which is how BEDSLIDE rates it and how the bearings are designed to see the load. It does not mean 1,500 lb stacked on one corner, and it does not mean 1,500 lb concentrated on the end of the deck at full extension, which is the worst case for any slide. Load it flat and load it spread out and this tray will do the rated number all day. Overloading it, or point loading it, is one of the things BEDSLIDE's warranty specifically excludes.

How does the warranty work?

The MAX Extension models carry a 5 year warranty, for the original owner only, and that is the full term. The lifetime upgrade that BEDSLIDE offers on registering its other series within 30 days does not apply to MAX models, so please do not buy this one expecting lifetime cover. Cover does not transfer if you sell the truck. How hard is it to install?

Reckon on about an hour, and get a second pair of hands because the tray weighs 355 lb and wants to go in square. It is a bolt-in installation into the bed floor. BEDSLIDE recommends a dealer install, and there are two traps worth knowing about: installing over a bed liner is not recommended because liners vary and the tray may need adjusting to sit right, and on an aluminum bed you need BEDSLIDE's aluminum bed kit, part BSA-HALUMKT, or the dissimilar metals will corrode.

Is this available in the Silver finish?
