Short-bed trucks and gooseneck trailers do not naturally get along. Turn sharply enough and the trailer's nose arrives at the back glass, and the repair bill for a cab corner and a rear window makes the problem worth solving before it happens rather than after. The Extend-A-Goose is B&W's answer from the trailer side: an inner tube that fits into your trailer's gooseneck and offsets the coupler by 10", moving the pivot point back and buying clearance at the tailgate and the cab. It is heavy-wall tube with internal gussets rather than a light spacer, the coupler on the end is funnel shaped and self-aligning so hookups are easier rather than harder, and the spring-loaded handle is sized to grip properly with a glove on. It takes a padlock. Rated 24,000 lb gross trailer weight and 6,000 lb vertical tow weight, and it fits all standard 4" inner diameter round trailer tubes. B&W finishes it to look like it belongs on the trailer rather than like an extension bolted on afterwards.

10" of Offset
It moves the trailer's coupler, and with it the pivot point, 10" back. On a short bed that is usually the difference between a turn you can complete and one that puts the gooseneck into the cab. Measure the swing you actually need before ordering, because 10" is generous but it is a fixed figure.
Heavy Wall Tube With Internal Gussets
Everything the trailer does to the truck now passes through a part that holds the coupler out behind where it used to be, so the tube is heavy wall and gusseted internally. This is a structural component of the trailer, and it is built like one.
Easier Hookups, Not Harder
The coupler on the end is funnel shaped and self-aligning, so the extra length does not make lining up worse. The spring-loaded handle is easy to grip, which matters at the end of a long day and in gloves.
More Room at the Tailgate
Beyond turning clearance, the extra offset makes hooking up easier because there is more room between the trailer and the tailgate to stand and work, and it reduces how often you drop the tailgate just to get to the coupler.
Takes a Padlock
The coupler accommodates a padlock, so the trailer is not simply available to anyone who backs a truck under it while it is parked.

Fit guidance: This is a trailer part, so fitment is decided by your trailer's gooseneck tube and not by your truck. It fits all standard 4" inner diameter round tubes, which is the common size, but measure yours rather than assuming: square tubing and non-standard diameters exist. The reason to fit it is a short-bed truck, so it is worth confirming that turning clearance is your actual problem before you spend the money. With the extension fitted the ratings are 24,000 lb gross and 6,000 lb vertical, which may be below what your trailer alone is rated for.

Support the trailer's nose properly before you remove the existing coupler. Follow B&W's instruction sheet for this part number rather than improvising, since this is what the trailer hangs from. Once it is on, couple up empty and swing the truck through the sharpest turn you expect to make, with someone watching the gap at the cab, before you load anything.

B&W warrants its products to the original consumer purchaser, for as long as that purchaser owns the product, against defects in material and workmanship. About B&W Trailer Hitches
B&W Trailer Hitches started in 1987 in a Humboldt, Kansas garage, where Roger Baker and Joe Works built the first Turnoverball gooseneck hitch. The idea was simple and nobody else had done it: a gooseneck ball that turns over and stores flush with the bed floor, so the truck bed goes back to being a truck bed the moment you unhook. The testing story is worth knowing, because it is not how the rest of the industry does it. B&W runs a single hitch through all three 300,000-cycle dynamic tests and the six static tests, one after another, on the same unit. The Tow & Stow line is tested to SAE J-684.
