Features
- Opens With One Cable Pull: One release cable runs across the tailgate end, and a pull from either side lets the latches go so you can fold the cover forward.
- Drop-and-Go Latches: Lower the cover and the automatic dual slam latches lock it on their own, with no clamps to work by hand. Gator doubles up the latch points along the length of the cover, and with your tailgate locked the bed is shut tight.
- Rigid Aluminum Panels: Each panel is built from multi-layer, aircraft-grade aluminum with a semi-gloss black coating that resists fading. Gator rates the closed cover for up to 300 lb spread evenly.
- Folds for 2/3 Bed Access: Fold the panels toward the cab to open two-thirds of the bed and lock the stack in place with the retaining straps. When you need the whole bed, Gator says its quick-release design lets the cover come off in minutes without tools.
- Keeps Water Out: Flush side seals block the edges, and drain rails carry water that gets past them out through drain tubes. Like any tonneau cover, it is weather-resistant rather than waterproof.
- Stake Pockets Stay Open: The rails leave the stake pockets clear, so tie-downs, bed rails and other accessories still have a place to mount.
Description & Fitment
This EFX is for the 2007-2021 Toyota Tundra 5'7" short box without the factory deck rails. Note the install: Gator's Tundra sheet has you drill a 5/8" hole for each drain tube, through the rubber plug in the bulkhead or by enlarging the existing floor hole, depending on year; the rails themselves clamp on. In use, a single cable pull opens it and the slam-latches lock it on closing, Gator says. Gator's 2-year limited warranty covers it.
Fitment & Compatibility
| Years | Model | Bed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2007-2021 | Tundra | 5'7" | w/o Deck Rail System |
Check your fit: this is the 5'7" box on a 2007-2021 Tundra, WITHOUT the Deck Rail System. Plan for the 5/8" drain-tube holes from Gator's sheet.
Not for: Tundras with the Deck Rail System (5'7" part EF344008), the 6'7" box (EF344009 without deck rails, EF344010 with) or the 2022 and newer Tundra (5'7" part EF344017).
About Gator
Gator makes truck bed covers in soft roll-up, soft tri-fold, hard folding and retractable styles, along with bed mats and floor liners. The brand started from one plain idea: a pickup bed should get protection that keeps working, season after season.
Gator builds its covers around everyday toughness and weather resistance, and it designs them for a home install. Every cover comes with Gator's install guide.
Buying Gator from Prestige Truck. Gator sells its covers only through authorized retailers, and Prestige Truck is an authorized Gator dealer. Every Gator cover we sell is new, genuine Gator product. Gator's warranty covers the original buyer and may ask for proof of purchase, so keep your Prestige Truck order receipt with your records.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to drill?
For the drain tubes, yes: Gator's sheet calls for a 5/8" hole on each side (bulkhead plug or enlarged floor hole, by year). The rails clamp on.
My 2016 Tundra has deck rails. Which EFX?
Choose EF344008 for the 5'7" box with the Deck Rail System.
How much weight can the EFX hold?
Gator rates it for up to 300 lb on the closed cover when the load is spread evenly. That rating is not for a concentrated load such as standing on one spot.
Is the EFX waterproof?
No tonneau cover is fully waterproof. Flush side seals keep most water out, and drain rails with drain tubes carry off what gets past them, so keep anything that must stay dry in a sealed bin.
Can I drive with the cover folded open?
Yes. Fold it to the two-thirds position and lock it with the retaining straps first. Gator's warranty requires the cover to be secured at every point while the truck is moving.
Do I need to take it off to tow my truck?
Only if the truck is towed from the rear. Gator requires the cover to be removed and stored first, or the warranty is void.
Installation
- Scissors or utility knife
- Isopropyl alcohol
- 1/2" wrench or socket
- Phillips screwdriver
- 5/8" drill bit & drill
- T-30 Torx driver
- 3/8" drive short extension
- Ratchet
Here's the short version. Follow Gator's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact steps.
- Without cargo management: set each side rail drain end toward the cab against the bulkhead and fit three clamps (6-8" from the bulkhead, middle, near the tailgate); start with the middle clamp; 10 ft-lb.
- Drain tubes (no cargo management): drill a 5/8" hole through the rubber plug in the bulkhead on each side and run the tube through.
- With cargo management: remove the utility-rail and accessory-rail end caps, slide three T-nut kits into each accessory rail and refit the caps.
- Slide the front halves of three clamps into each side rail lined up with the T-nuts, set the rail and bolt it with the T-nut kit bolt and washers; 10 ft-lb.
- Attach the drain tubes; with a 5/8" bit enlarge the existing floor hole (newer trucks) or go through the plugs (older trucks).
- Slide two cover retainer clamps into the track under the cover near the cab, on both sides.

Warranty
Gator backs the EFX with a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.- If the cover or a hardware part is defective, Gator repairs or replaces it at its choice, and may substitute a newer model of similar form and function.
- Coverage is for the first owner and can't be transferred. Gator asks for a registration on file or proof of original purchase (a dated, itemized receipt), so keep your order receipt.
- To keep it valid: wash with mild car soap and water only; keep the cover secured at every point while the truck is moving; check all clamps after the first week of driving (and after any reinstall) and now and then after that; clear snow and ice before opening; and take the cover off before the truck is towed from the rear.
- Claims need a return authorization number before anything is sent back. Gator may ask for the part, postage prepaid, to inspect it, and shipping for a repair or replacement is at the owner's cost; Gator charges nothing else for a covered repair or replacement.
- Not covered: accident damage, neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation or servicing, or anything not caused by a defect in material or workmanship. Your state may give you other rights as well.
- For a claim or help registering your warranty, contact us with your order number and photos of the problem, and we'll walk you through Gator's process.
