If a plastic bed rail cap hangs below the metal flange (Gator names 2004-14 and 2021 F-150 and 2009-19 Ram as common cases), trim the cap so the clamps reach metal. The 2024+ Ranger and Tacoma use brackets and a Torx driver.

Is there an 8' version for the 2021+ F-150?
Yes. SF3321 is the 8' bed version for the 2021-2026 F-150.
Does it fit a Super Duty 8' bed?
No. The 2017-2026 F-250/F-350/F-450 Super Duty 8' bed takes SF3316.
Is the SFX waterproof?
No soft cover is watertight. Foam rubber seals on all four sides keep most rain, dirt and dust out, but some moisture can get in during heavy weather, so keep anything that must stay dry in a sealed bin.
Can I drive with the cover folded?
Yes, with every panel folded up and secured at the cab by the buckle straps and both tethers. When closed, all four clamps must be engaged. Driving with it partly open voids Gator's warranty.
Can I take the cover off completely?
Yes. It lifts off by hand in minutes on most trucks, which opens the whole bed. Gator notes a tool may be needed on trucks with a factory track system.
How do I keep the vinyl in good shape?
Wash with mild car soap and water. If you use a vinyl conditioner, pick a water-based one; Gator warns that silicone or petroleum products can crack and shrink the vinyl. Stow the rear clamps before folding so they can't puncture the fabric.

Here's the short version. Follow Gator's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact steps.
- Place the assembled cover over the cab end of the bed.
- Unfold it fully, align it at the cab and tail, then refold without shifting it.
- If the plastic bed rail cap hangs below the metal flange, trim it so the clamps grip the sheet metal.
- Open the tailgate and close the cover. Slide each rear clamp out to the bed wall and hook it under the metal flange; tighten by hand only.
- Tethers: on a plain metal flange, clamp the tether to the flange; with factory cargo rails, remove the end cap, fit the slide block in the rail at the front bow and tighten the knob.
- Cargo-management trucks: fit the bracket kit (clamp plate, washers, screws) and torque to 65 in-lb (7.3 Nm).

Gator backs the SFX with a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.- The hard parts (rails, clamps and bows) and the vinyl fabric are each covered for 2 years from the original purchase date.
- If a cover, tarp or hardware part is defective, Gator repairs or replaces it at its choice, and may substitute a newer model of similar form and function.
- Coverage is for the first buyer and can't be transferred. Gator asks for a registration on file or proof of original purchase (a dated, itemized receipt), so keep your order receipt.
- To keep it valid: wash with mild car soap and water only; use only water-based vinyl conditioners, never ones with silicone or petroleum; drive only with all four clamps engaged, or with every panel folded and held at the cab by the buckle straps and both tethers; stow the rear clamps before folding; clear snow and ice before opening; check the cab clamps after the first week and now and then after that; and take the cover off before the truck is towed backward.
- Claims need a return authorization number before anything is sent back. Gator may ask for the part, postage prepaid, to inspect it, and shipping for a repair or replacement is at the owner's cost; Gator charges nothing else for a covered repair or replacement.
- Not covered: accident damage, neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation or servicing, or anything not caused by a defect in material or workmanship. Your state may give you other rights as well.
