Features

  • Anodized Aluminum Body: The shock body and reservoir tubes are anodized 6063 aluminum, which sheds heat well and holds up against corrosion. The rod end, top cap and internal parts are machined 6061 aluminum.
  • Valving for Your Vehicle: A one-piece linear/digressive piston carries valving chosen for the vehicle and its lift range, so the body stays settled on pavement while bumps on the trail get soaked up.
  • Internal or Remote Reservoir: Internal reservoir versions keep the nitrogen charge inside the shock body. Remote reservoir versions move extra oil into a separate canister on a hose, adding cooling that helps hold off fade on long rough runs.
  • Fits the Factory Mounts: Polyurethane bushings, zinc-plated sleeves and forged steel mounting stems let each shock go into the vehicle's original shock mounts.
  • Quiet and Corrosion Resistant: The hardened steel shaft is chrome plated to resist pitting and rust, and a nitrile rubber top-out bumper keeps things quiet when the suspension reaches full extension.
  • Rebuildable and Revalveable: Every 2.0 Series shock can be fully serviced. It can be rebuilt when it wears, or revalved if the load or the way the vehicle is used changes.

Description & Fitment

The ICON 2.0 Series shock absorber is a rear shock for the 2019-2023 Ford Ranger with a 0-1.5" lift. It comes as a standard body (96519) or remote reservoir (96519R) version, and some drilling, cutting or trimming is required. The anodized 6063 aluminum body and vehicle-specific valving give a quiet, corrosion-resistant ride, while the remote reservoir adds oil and cooling to resist fade. Every part is serviceable, so the shock can be rebuilt or revalved.

Check your fit: match your year, model and the notes in each row: 2019-2023 Ford Ranger (0-1.5" lift).

About ICON Vehicle Dynamics

ICON.

ICON Vehicle Dynamics designs and builds performance suspension for trucks and SUVs at its shop in Riverside, California. Engineering is led by Dylan Evans, its head engineer and a SCORE champion driver, and ICON tests its parts on the street, on the trail and under race conditions.

ICON's engineers begin with the result they want from a vehicle, then study the forces acting on it in motion, which is where the name Vehicle Dynamics comes from. Fabrication stays in ICON's own shop, from laser cutting and metal forming to CNC machining, welding and final assembly. ICON calls its suspension systems and shock absorbers the top choice for popular trucks and SUVs.

Authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer, so every ICON part we sell is new and genuine. ICON's warranty is for the original retail buyer, on the vehicle the part was first installed on. Keep your Prestige Truck order receipt: we use it when we take a claim to ICON for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my 2019-2023 Ford Ranger?

It fits when your vehicle matches one of these rows: 2019-2023 Ford Ranger (0-1.5" lift). If you are unsure about your trim or drivetrain, send us your VIN and we will check it against ICON's application list before you order.

Does the install involve cutting or drilling?

Yes, ICON's install sheet for 96519 includes drilling, cutting or trimming. Read the sheet in the Installation section below before you start, or have a shop do the work.

Do I need to order two shocks?

Yes, for one axle. Most 2.0 Series part numbers are a single shock, and ICON calls for two per axle. Some remote reservoir parts are made for one side, so order the driver side and passenger side numbers together.

Internal or remote reservoir: which should I pick?

An internal reservoir shock is the simpler install, with nothing extra to mount. A remote reservoir shock carries more oil and more cooling surface, so it resists fade better on long rough drives, and it needs its reservoir bracket mounted near the shock.

Should I choose the 2.0 or the 2.5 Series?

ICON aims the 2.0 Series at daily driving and weekend trail use. For extreme off-road driving it points owners to the 2.5 Series, which is stronger and handles heat better.

How often do ICON shocks need service?

ICON's maintenance guide suggests a factory service about every 40,000 miles for street use, or about every 15,000 miles for a mix of street and dirt, and sooner if a shock leaks, rides worse or gets noisy. Wash off salt and mud, wax the bodies once a year and check the nitrogen charge yearly.

What's involvedThe factory rear shocks come off and the ICON shocks mount with the reservoir facing away from the axle, the mounting tabs may need slight sanding, and the overload leaf contact pads are replacedre-torque all hardware after 100 miles.

Here's the short version. Follow ICON's install sheet (below) for your vehicle's exact steps and torque values. These steps are for part 96519R; the other parts on this page install from their own ICON sheet below.

  1. Place the vehicle on a flat surface, verify that the transmission is shifted into PARK, firmly apply the emergency brake, and place wheel chocks on both sides of the tires.
  2. Remove the factory rear shock using a 15mm socket/wrench.
  3. Install the rod end of the ICON shock in the upper mount.
  4. Mount the shock in the lower mount with the reservoir facing away from the axle. Make sure the nuts are properly retained in the sheet-metal retainers. Torque bolts to factory spec using a 15mm.
  5. Install the ICON shock in the lower mount. Firmly press upward on the shock to compress it enough to line it up with the lower mounting hole and start the bolt.
  6. Replace the overload leaf spring contact pads. Pop out the existing rubber tip contact pads located on both ends of the overload leaf. Press in the supplied low profile tip contact pads.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • Warranty

ICON covers its shock absorbers, including the shock in every coilover, for 1 year against manufacturer's defects.
    • Coverage belongs to the original retail buyer who owns the vehicle the part was first installed on.
    • A shock that fails in its first year goes to ICON for inspection and service. If ICON finds the cause was neglect, poor installation or anything other than normal wear and tear, the owner pays for labor, parts and shipping.
    • ICON repairs or replaces a defective part, at its discretion. Removal, reinstallation, freight and incidental or consequential costs are not covered, and parts that wear in normal use are not treated as defective.
    • Not covered: finish (including finish marks from shipping), alterations or modifications, installation that departs from ICON's instructions, racing use, police, taxi, government or commercial vehicles, and sales outside the United States and Canada.
    • ICON shocks leave the factory charged with nitrogen. Letting that charge out can make a shock malfunction, and ICON does not cover a failure caused by low nitrogen pressure.
    • To claim, contact us first with your order number and a short description of the problem. We open the claim with ICON for you, and your Prestige Truck receipt is the proof of purchase ICON asks for.
  • Free shipping

Ships free to the lower 48 states, with no minimum order.

Each shock ships charged with nitrogen: check the body, shaft, reservoir hose and hardware bag as soon as the carton arrives, photograph any damage right away, and never let the nitrogen out. Check it as soon as it arrives.
    • Look for crushed ends, punctures or tears in the carton.
    • If something looks wrong, take photos of the box and the parts (and if a driver asks you to sign, note the damage on the receipt).
