More damping for harder driving

ICON's 3.0 Series is the step beyond its 2.5 Series for drivers who take their vehicles into rougher terrain at higher speeds. The larger body and piston keep the front end stable and controlled at the extremes, and the benefit carries over to daily driving. Adjustable compression damping lets the ride be tuned to the terrain.

Remote reservoirs and bump zone

Every 3.0 Series coilover carries a remote reservoir for more oil and cooling, so damping stays consistent through long rough sections. A multi-stage hydraulic Bump Zone firms up the last 40% of compression to resist bottoming. CDCV, CDXS or CDEV valving sets how the compression damping is adjusted.

3.0 CDEV on a 4Runner

ICON walks around a 6th gen 4Runner build running 3.0 CDEV front coilovers and 3.0 CDEV rear shocks.

Plan the install and parts

ICON recommends a professional shop for the installation and a professional alignment afterward. Many vehicles need other parts with these coilovers, such as upper control arms or a sway bar bracket, and those are listed under Also required. Late-model vehicles also need a driver-assist recalibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

How is the 3.0 Series different from the 2.5 Series?

The 3" body has 50% more piston area in the ride zone, a larger oil volume and a hydraulic Bump Zone for the last 40% of compression. ICON builds it for drivers who push harder in rougher terrain, and the extra control shows on the road too.

What is the difference between CDCV, CDXS and CDEV?

CDCV is an external adjuster with 10 compression settings from soft to firm. CDXS adjusts low speed and high speed compression separately. CDEV is an electronic valve that ICON Intelligent Control adjusts from onboard sensors, and the ICON app it runs on needs an iOS device.

Are these sold as a pair?

Most listings are front coilover kits. Where ICON sells a coilover by side, the listing says Driver Side or Passenger Side, and the other side is required as well.

Do I need other parts?

Often. Depending on the vehicle, ICON calls for parts such as Delta Joint PRO upper control arms, a sway bar drop bracket, a differential drop, a track bar or bracket, or on some Raptors a damper interface device. The listing's Also required notes list what your vehicle needs.

Will I need an alignment and ADAS recalibration?

Yes. ICON's instructions call for a professional alignment after the install, and late-model vehicles need their driver-assist systems recalibrated.

What warranty comes with 3.0 Series coilovers?

The coilovers carry ICON's 1-year shock absorber warranty against manufacturer's defects, and a shock that fails in its first year goes back to ICON for inspection and service. Racing use and installation contrary to ICON's instructions are excluded.
