Features
- Protection Under the Vehicle: ICON's skid plates cover the parts most exposed on the trail: lower control arms, front differential, steering, intercooler and transmission.
- Shaped to Slide Over Rocks: Faceted, high-clearance shapes and countersunk hardware help the vehicle slide over rocks instead of catching on them.
- Steel or 5052 Aluminum Plate: Plates are CNC laser cut and brake-formed from 3/16" or 1/4" steel or from lighter 5052 aluminum, depending on the part.
- Fits Close to the Chassis: Each skid is made for its platform, tucking up to the factory bumper, crossmembers or ICON bumper it is designed around.
- Pairs With Other ICON Skids: Front, differential and transmission skids can run alone or together for continuous coverage, and bumper skids add to ICON's Pro Series bumpers.
- Drain Holes and Durable Finish: Some plates add drain holes to limit mud buildup, and steel plates carry a semi-gloss black powder coat.
Description & Fitment
Here is ICON's lower control arm skid plate kit sized for the 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma. Each plate covers a lower control arm, helping the Tacoma slide over rocks instead of hanging up. They are cut from 3/16" steel plate. Expect some drilling, cutting or trimming; ICON's sheet walks through it.

About ICON Vehicle Dynamics
ICON Vehicle Dynamics designs and builds performance suspension for trucks and SUVs at its shop in Riverside, California. Engineering is led by Dylan Evans, its head engineer and a SCORE champion driver, and ICON tests its parts on the street, on the trail and under race conditions.
ICON's engineers begin with the result they want from a vehicle, then study the forces acting on it in motion, which is where the name Vehicle Dynamics comes from. Fabrication stays in ICON's own shop, from laser cutting and metal forming to CNC machining, welding and final assembly. ICON calls its suspension systems and shock absorbers the top choice for popular trucks and SUVs.
Authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer, so every ICON part we sell is new and genuine. ICON's warranty is for the original retail buyer, on the vehicle the part was first installed on. Keep your Prestige Truck order receipt: we use it when we take a claim to ICON for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit my 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma?
It fits when your vehicle matches one of these rows: 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma. If you are unsure about your trim or drivetrain, send us your VIN and we will check it against ICON's application list before you order.
Will I have to cut or drill anything?
Yes, ICON's install sheet for 56107 includes drilling, cutting or trimming. Read the sheet in the Installation section below before you start, or have a shop do the work.
Can I run one skid plate alone?
Yes. ICON designs its front and transmission skids to work alone or together; the description of each part says which plates it pairs with.
Do the bumper skids need an ICON bumper?
Yes. ICON's Jeep bumper skid plates are made to go with its Pro Series front bumpers.
Why is my KDSS model excluded?
ICON does not list some lower control arm skids for KDSS-equipped 4Runner, FJ Cruiser and Tacoma models. Check the fitment rows before ordering.
What warranty applies?
ICON's published limited warranty applies to its skid plates, for the original buyer and the vehicle they were first installed on. Finish is excluded. Contact us first for a claim and we will open it with ICON.
Installation
- Drill
- 1/2" Drill Bit
- 9/16" Socket / Wrench
- Torque Wrench
- Welder (For S2 Install Only)
Here's the short version. Follow ICON's install sheet (below) for your vehicle's exact steps and torque values.
- Using a properly rated jack, raise the front of the vehicle and support the frame rails with jack stands. Ensure the jack stands are secure and set properly before lowering the jack. NEVER WORK UNDER AN UNSUPPORTED VEHICLE.
- Locate 3 holes on the bottom side of the lower control arm. Drill hole closest to wheel to 1/2" diameter.
- Use paint to touch up any exposed metal from drilling to avoid corrosion.
- The large washers (150109) go on top of arms first. The two inner bolts use a 3/8" flat washer (605133) and metal locking nut (605122).
- Depending on the extended shock length and the CV boot, slight sanding may be required on outer bolt (at end of threads) for CV boot clearance at full droop.
- Cycle steering left to right and make sure the brake line and caliper clear at both extremes. During development icon found that the factory steering rack was the steering limiter and not the steering stops on the knuckles.
