Thirteen minutes of install work on a Ram 1500, start to finish. Rail placement, the speed clamps and the canister mounting are all on camera, which is worth watching before you decide to take the job on yourself.
A short silent clip taken from this cover's own official footage. It runs on a loop and shows the aluminum deck moving on the rails, so you can see the profile of the closed cover without playing a full video.
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Yes, with a key. The twist lock secures the deck at the tailgate end, and paired with a locking tailgate it closes the bed off completely. That combination is what makes the bed a reasonable place to leave tools rather than moving them into the cab.
Yes. Tailgate operation is independent of where the cover sits, so you can drop it with the deck fully out, fully retracted or locked at one of the twelve inch stops. Nothing has to be moved first.
The canister sits at the bulkhead and it is contoured to keep that loss small, though it does take some length off the front of the bed. Measure long items against the space behind the canister rather than the full bed length quoted for your truck.
Some will always find the canister. Drain tubes take it from there and route it out of the bed, which keeps the deck from pooling. Note that water intrusion is excluded from the warranty, so treat the cover as weather protection and not a dry box for anything that must stay sealed.
It runs for the life of the cover, but only for the person who bought it and only on the truck it went on. Selling the truck ends it. Materials, workmanship, deck panel separation, lock assemblies and hardware are the parts covered.
Check it before install day. A drop in liner can sit where the rails need to go, and the paperwork with the cover explains how to modify one so the rails clear. Doing that first saves pulling the rails back off halfway through the job.
