Description & Fitment
This TeraFlex bracket kit moves the license plate and 3rd brake light of a 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK or JK Unlimited from their exposed stock spots onto the Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mount, which it requires. Kit 4838162 comes with lug nuts, 4838165 is the same bracket without them, and 4838163 is for JKs with an 8-lug conversion, also without lug nuts. TeraFlex rates the job at about half an hour.

Installation

Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.
- Remove the spare tire, then take out the four T20 Torx screws holding the third brake light to the factory housing.
- Lift the light out of the housing, unplug its connector and trim away the lower part of the light as shown.
- Refit the tire using one factory lug nut on the lowest stud and the two supplied long lug nuts on the upper studs.
- Mount the third brake light on the smaller holes of the supplied mount plate with two of the factory T20 screws and plug the factory connector back in.
- Fit and tighten the supplied 1/2" bolts and lock washers through the mount plate holes into the long lug nuts.

TeraFlex's warranty list covers its Alpha carrier and Alpha components, the Alpha license plate and 3rd brake light mount included for life against defects in materials and workmanship.- TeraFlex extends its limited warranty only to the consumer who first bought the product, and only on the vehicle the part was first installed on. It does not pass to a later owner.
- Coverage starts on the purchase date and does not restart if a part is repaired or replaced.
- For a covered defect, TeraFlex will either repair or replace the product (or the faulty part) free of charge or refund the purchase price, at its discretion, and it pays the freight to send a repaired or replacement part back to you.
- Not covered: damage from transportation, storage, improper use, skipped instructions or preventive maintenance, modifications, unauthorized repair, normal wear and tear, product finish, improper installation or maintenance, racing or competition, or accidents, abuse and neglect. Improper installation, poor maintenance, racing or competition use, and neglect or abuse void the warranty.
- Paint and powder coat finishes carry 90 days of defect coverage only, not wear from use.
- Claims: contact us first. Keep your proof of purchase or original invoice; removing the part from the vehicle and the inbound shipping are the owner's responsibility.
