Description & Fitment
This bolt-on TeraFlex kit adds a steel skid plate over each rear Falcon shock on a 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK or JK Unlimited. TeraFlex designs it around its JK Falcon Series 3 Piggyback rear shocks and says it also works with Series 2 Monotube shocks. The plates are cut from 1/4" cold rolled steel and mount with Eco-Guard hardware, and TeraFlex estimates about an hour to fit them. The shocks themselves are sold separately.

About TeraFlex
TeraFlex describes itself as a Jeep company at heart, started and staffed by people who drive them. It designs, engineers and builds suspension systems, shocks, axles and performance parts, with the Wrangler and Gladiator at the center of the range.
The company traces its roots to the 1950s and MEPCO (Military Equipment Parts Company), an early supplier of Jeep parts. TeraFlex Manufacturing followed in 1996 to build heavy-duty suspension for the TJ Wrangler, and today's catalog runs from full lift systems and the Falcon shock line to axles, steering and armor.
Authorized TeraFlex dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine TeraFlex. In TeraFlex's words, its limited warranty extends "only to the consumer who originally purchased the product," so keep your receipt with your build records.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit other brands of shocks?
TeraFlex designs it for its JK Falcon Series 3 Piggyback rear shocks and lists Falcon Series 2 Monotube shocks as compatible. It names no other shocks.
Are the shocks included?
No. The kit is the skid plates and mounting hardware only.

This is the bolt-on version. The Falcon HD Rear Shock Skid Plate Kit (36-07-01-300) comes in a raw finish and can be welded on for extreme use.
How quickly does it ship?
Shipping is free to the lower 48 states, and most orders arrive within 1-5 business days. We email your tracking number as soon as it ships.
Can you confirm it's the right part before I order?
Yes. Send us your VIN or year, model and your engine, transfer case and the TeraFlex parts you already run, and we'll check it against TeraFlex's fitment information before it ships.
Do I need to read the instructions first?
Yes. TeraFlex asks you to read its instructions fully before you start, check the parts list against the box, and judge whether you have the experience to do the work yourself.
Installation
- 7/16" and 3/4" (or 19 mm) wrench or socket
- Ratchet
- 6 mm and 5/32" Allen wrench
- Large flat head screwdriver or pry bar
- 17/64" or 9/32" drill bit
- Rest on TeraFlex's tool list
Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.
- Check your wheels have no more than 4.5" of backspacing so the tires clear the skid plates; doing both sides at the same time is easiest.
- Remove the outer nuts from the lower shock mount studs (3/4" or 19mm) and slide the shocks off, then remove the inner nuts and washers (6mm Allen on the studs), the studs (they are reused, so protect the threads) and the spacers.
- Set the skid plate in the shock mount, refit the stud, washer and nut, and while pushing the plate up torque the nut to 56 ft-lbs (76 Nm); repeat on the other side.
- Mark and drill pilot holes through the inner side of each shock mount and skid plate together, then finish them with a 17/64" or 9/32" drill.
- Fit the 1/4" Allen bolts through the holes with the 1/4" nuts (7/16" wrench, 3/16" Allen) and torque to 11 ft-lbs (15 Nm).
- Refit the bottom of each shock on its stud with the washer and nut and torque to 56 ft-lbs (76 Nm).
