Features
- Sleeves and gussets together: Reinforces the inner axle tubes and the upper inner knuckles in one kit.
- Stiffer factory front axle: TeraFlex says the kit helps prevent bending or breaking under extreme use.
- Dana 30 or Dana 44: Fits JK factory Dana 30 and Dana 44 front axles.
- Two install sheets: Sheets 999035 (sleeves) and 999033 (gussets) cover the work.
- About 5 hours of labor: TeraFlex estimates 5 hours for the complete kit.
- Not for Rubicon Recon: TeraFlex excludes the Recon Dana 44 with 0.375" wall tubes.
Description & Fitment
This TeraFlex kit combines inner axle tube sleeves with upper inner knuckle gussets for a JK Wrangler or Wrangler Unlimited Dana 30 or Dana 44 factory front axle. TeraFlex calls the factory tubes and knuckles weak points; the sleeves and gussets reinforce both to resist bending or breaking. Install is weld-on, covered by two TeraFlex sheets. It does not fit a Rubicon Recon Dana 44 with 0.375" wall tubes.

About TeraFlex
TeraFlex describes itself as a Jeep company at heart, started and staffed by people who drive them. It designs, engineers and builds suspension systems, shocks, axles and performance parts, with the Wrangler and Gladiator at the center of the range.
The company traces its roots to the 1950s and MEPCO (Military Equipment Parts Company), an early supplier of Jeep parts. TeraFlex Manufacturing followed in 1996 to build heavy-duty suspension for the TJ Wrangler, and today's catalog runs from full lift systems and the Falcon shock line to axles, steering and armor.
Authorized TeraFlex dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine TeraFlex. In TeraFlex's words, its limited warranty extends "only to the consumer who originally purchased the product," so keep your receipt with your build records.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit a Rubicon?
TeraFlex lists factory Dana 30 and Dana 44 front axles, but not the Rubicon Recon Dana 44 with 0.375" wall tubes.
Does it include lower knuckle gussets?
No. This kit has the inner sleeves and upper gussets; the lower gussets are 4990910.
How do I pick the right part number?
Each listing names the position, side, axle and size TeraFlex lists for that part number. Match it to your Jeep and current setup, or send us your VIN and build details and we'll check before you order.
Who should install it?
TeraFlex recommends a certified mechanic. Follow the TeraFlex instructions for the part, and take any torque values from those instructions or your service manual.
What if it arrives damaged?
Check the packaging and the part before you sign, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and contact us right away. We will sort out a replacement with you.
Is this genuine TeraFlex?
Yes. We are an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so every part ships new and genuine.
Installation
- Ball joint remover/installer
- 3/8" and 1/2" drive ratchets
- 13mm 12-point, 18mm, 19mm and 21mm sockets and wrenches
- 7/8" and 1-1/8" sockets or wrenches
- 5mm Allen
Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.
- Remove the track bar bolt at the axle, raise the Jeep onto frame stands so the axle can drop far enough, and pull the wheels, lower shock and sway bar link bolts and coil springs.
- Take off the steering stabilizer, tie rod and drag link ends and the calipers (hang them, never by the brake line), then the rotors and the three 13mm 12-point unit bearing bolts.
- Remove the wheel speed sensors and axle shafts, cut the ball joint cotter pins, loosen the castle nuts and knock the knuckle free, then press out the upper ball joint so welding cannot damage it.
- Mark around the gusset on the knuckle, strip the powder coat and paint there to bare metal, tack the gusset in a few places on each side and weld it on. Welding is required.
- Once cool, paint all bare metal, press the upper ball joint back in and refit the knuckle: lower nut 80 ft-lbs, upper 60 ft-lbs, lower 125 ft-lbs, upper 106 ft-lbs, with new cotter pins.
- Refit the greased axle shafts (unit bearing bolts 75 ft-lbs), wheel speed sensors (3 ft-lbs), coil springs, lower shocks (56 ft-lbs), sway bar links (75 ft-lbs) and the steering parts, brakes and wheels.

Warranty
TeraFlex's warranty list names no term for axle brackets, gussets, trusses, steering ram brackets or axle plugs, so contact us before ordering and we will confirm the coverage.- TeraFlex extends its limited warranty only to the consumer who first bought the product, and only on the vehicle the part was first installed on. It does not pass to a later owner.
- Coverage starts on the purchase date and does not restart if a part is repaired or replaced.
- For a covered defect, TeraFlex will either repair or replace the product (or the faulty part) free of charge or refund the purchase price, at its discretion, and it pays the freight to send a repaired or replacement part back to you.
- Not covered: damage from transportation, storage, improper use, skipped instructions or preventive maintenance, modifications, unauthorized repair, normal wear and tear, product finish, improper installation or maintenance, racing or competition, or accidents, abuse and neglect. Improper installation, poor maintenance, racing or competition use, and neglect or abuse void the warranty.
