Description & Fitment

TeraFlex Lift Coil Springs for the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ or Wrangler Unlimited LJ are rate-tuned with a balanced front-to-rear load bias that TeraFlex says improves both highway handling and off-road performance. They use linear-rate design, the approach TeraFlex notes most automakers including Jeep prefer, so the maximum number of coils stay active for predictable handling through the full travel. Choose the 3" front kit or a 2", 3" or 5" rear kit. TeraFlex treats the listed lift as an average: winches, bumpers, a full-size spare and cargo all change the final height.

About TeraFlex

TERAFLEX.

TeraFlex describes itself as a Jeep company at heart, started and staffed by people who drive them. It designs, engineers and builds suspension systems, shocks, axles and performance parts, with the Wrangler and Gladiator at the center of the range.

The company traces its roots to the 1950s and MEPCO (Military Equipment Parts Company), an early supplier of Jeep parts. TeraFlex Manufacturing followed in 1996 to build heavy-duty suspension for the TJ Wrangler, and today's catalog runs from full lift systems and the Falcon shock line to axles, steering and armor.

Authorized TeraFlex dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine TeraFlex. In TeraFlex's words, its limited warranty extends "only to the consumer who originally purchased the product," so keep your receipt with your build records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the lift height exact?

No. TeraFlex says the listed lift is an average; a winch, aftermarket bumpers, a full-size spare or cargo weight all affect the final height.

Do I get front and rear?

No. Each kit is one axle: 1843302 is front; 1844202, 1844302 and 1844502 are rear.

Do they fit a JK?

No. These are TJ/LJ springs; JK springs are a separate set, the 1853102 group.

What warranty does TeraFlex give?

TeraFlex covers its coil springs and 9550 VSS shocks for life against defects in materials and workmanship, and paint and powder coat finishes for 90 days. Contact us to confirm coverage on other parts of your kit or to start a claim.

How quickly does it ship?

Shipping is free to the lower 48 states, and most orders arrive within 1-5 business days. We email your tracking number as soon as it ships.

Can you confirm it's the right kit before I order?

Yes. Contact us with your VIN or year, model, doors and trim, plus your wheels, tires and any lift parts already fitted, and we'll check it against TeraFlex's fitment information before it ships.

Installation

Install time 3 hours
What's involvedDisconnect the front track bar, shocks and lower control arms, lower the axle to swap in the new coil springs, then refit the arms, shocks and track bar.
ToolsBasic mechanics tool set

Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.

  1. Raise and support the frame on jack stands, support the axle with a hydraulic jack, remove the tires, and disconnect the front track bar at the axle.
  2. Remove the ABS lines at the frame if equipped, unbolt the shocks from the axle (13mm) and remove the coil spring retainer clips (13mm).
  3. Remove the lower control arms at the frame, lower the jack until the springs are free and remove them.
  4. Slide each new spring in top first and seat it on the spring perch, then refit the retainer clip if present at 16 ft-lbs (p4).
  5. Reinstall the lower control arms at the frame (85 ft-lbs) and raise the jack to refit the shocks to the axle (21 ft-lbs).
  6. Refit the tires (lug nuts 110 ft-lbs), lower the Jeep and reinstall the front track bar at 40 ft-lbs.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • Warranty

TeraFlex covers its coil springs and its 9550 VSS shocks for life against defects in materials and workmanship, and paint and powder coat finishes for 90 days (defects only). TeraFlex's warranty list names no separate term for the coil spring spacers in the Gladiator 2.5" kit, so contact us if you need that term before ordering.
    • TeraFlex extends its limited warranty only to the consumer who first bought the product, and only on the vehicle the part was first installed on. It does not pass to a later owner.
    • Coverage starts on the purchase date and does not restart if a part is repaired or replaced.
    • For a covered defect, TeraFlex will either repair or replace the product (or the faulty part) free of charge or refund the purchase price, at its discretion, and it pays the freight to send a repaired or replacement part back to you.
    • Not covered: damage from transportation, storage, improper use, skipped instructions or preventive maintenance, modifications, unauthorized repair, normal wear and tear, product finish, improper installation or maintenance, racing or competition, or accidents, abuse and neglect. Improper installation, poor maintenance, racing or competition use, and neglect or abuse void the warranty.
    • Paint and powder coat finishes carry 90 days of defect coverage only, not wear from use.
    • Claims: contact us first. Keep your proof of purchase or original invoice; removing the part from the vehicle and the inbound shipping are the owner's responsibility.
