Description & Fitment

This is a single TeraFlex Short Control Arm, Lower, sold individually, for the front or rear lower position of a 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ or LJ Unlimited, a 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee ZJ or a 1986-1992 Comanche MJ, or the front lower of a 1984-2001 Cherokee XJ, with 0"-4" of lift. It is an adjustable 1.75" x 0.25" wall DOM arm that bolts to the factory brackets, handy as a spare or to replace one damaged arm. An alignment is required after install.

What's involvedSwap the factory lower control arms one at a time for FlexArms set to their starting lengths, bushing end at the frame and flex joint at the axle. Torque the bolts on the ground, get a four-wheel alignment and grease the flex joints monthly.

Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.

  1. Raise and support the front of the vehicle, unclip the ABS sensor wire from the inboard side of the arm if fitted, and work on one arm at a time.
  2. Remove the frame-side bolt and the axle-side cam bolt and nut (21mm), then take out the factory lower arm.
  3. Set the FlexArm to its starting length (TJ, LJ and ZJ 15-3/4", XJ front 16-1/4"), snug the jam nut with a 1-1/4" wrench and grease the flex joint.
  4. Fit the bushing end in the frame bracket and the flex-joint end in the axle bracket on the cam bolt turned fully forward, all finger tight; do the other side, lower the vehicle and torque the cam bolts to 85 ft-lbs and the frame-side bolts to 130 ft-lbs.
  5. Rear: raise and support the rear, swap one arm at a time set to its starting length (TJ and LJ 15-3/4", ZJ 16-11/16") with the bushing end at the frame and the flex joint at the axle, then lower the vehicle and torque all bolts to 130 ft-lbs.
  6. Have a four-wheel alignment done (the cam bolt no longer sets alignment) and grease the flex joints once a month.

    TeraFlex covers its control arms and IR bushings for life against defects in materials and workmanship. Alpine control arm bushings other than IR carry 1 year, and paint and powder coat finishes 90 days (defects only).
    • TeraFlex extends its limited warranty only to the consumer who first bought the product, and only on the vehicle the part was first installed on. It does not pass to a later owner.
    • Coverage starts on the purchase date and does not restart if a part is repaired or replaced.
    • For a covered defect, TeraFlex will either repair or replace the product (or the faulty part) free of charge or refund the purchase price, at its discretion, and it pays the freight to send a repaired or replacement part back to you.
    • Not covered: damage from transportation, storage, improper use, skipped instructions or preventive maintenance, modifications, unauthorized repair, normal wear and tear, product finish, improper installation or maintenance, racing or competition, or accidents, abuse and neglect. Improper installation, poor maintenance, racing or competition use, and neglect or abuse void the warranty.
    • Paint and powder coat finishes carry 90 days of defect coverage only, not wear from use.
    • Claims: contact us first. Keep your proof of purchase or original invoice; removing the part from the vehicle and the inbound shipping are the owner's responsibility.
