Clay Croft Uses The WARN HUB Receiver & App

Clay Croft of Expedition Overland demonstrates the HUB receiver and app in real use, showing how the Bluetooth pairing works and how responsive the winch control is from a phone. The demonstration applies directly to this receiver. This is the truck and SUV version, made to pair with WARN truck and SUV winches.

Control Your Winch With Your Smartphone

Warn's short overview of the HUB wireless receiver, walking through smartphone control of the winch and app extras like the battery monitor. This listing is the truck and SUV version of the receiver, and the phone control shown in the video is exactly what it adds to a compatible winch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Which HUB receiver do I need?

It depends entirely on your winch. This part, 103945, is for contactor-controlled Warn truck and SUV winches: ZEON, ZEON XP, VR, VR EVO, and the Heavyweight and Classic series. Part 103940 is for AXON powersports winches and part 103950 is for VRX, ProVantage and Vantage powersports winches. The connectors are different, so they are not interchangeable. Send us your winch model if you are not sure.

Do I lose the wired remote?

No. The receiver installs in line on the harness between the winch and the control pack, so the corded remote keeps working exactly as before. You are adding a wireless option rather than swapping one control for another, which is worth having on the day your phone is flat.

How far away can I actually stand?

Warn rates the Bluetooth link at up to 100'. The practical value of that is not distance for its own sake, it is being able to position yourself where you can see the load, the line and the anchor at once, rather than being tied to a short cord next to the winch.

Does it work with a non-Warn winch?

No. The HUB plugs into Warn's factory harness and is built around Warn's contactor control packs. It is not a universal wireless winch kit and should not be spliced into another manufacturer's winch.

Will it fit my M8274, M12, M15 or 16.5ti?

Yes. Those are contactor-controlled Warn truck winches, which is the family this receiver covers. It also works with the ZEON, ZEON XP, VR and VR EVO lines.

Is it safe to use a phone as a winch control?

It is arguably safer than the alternative, because the main risk during a recovery is standing in the wrong place. Being able to walk 50' away and still stop the winch means you are not beside a loaded line. Treat the usual rules as unchanged: never straddle the rope, keep bystanders clear, and test the pairing under no load before you need it.
