Not for: mid-size pickups, which are not on this length's fitment list (Weather Guard's 41" Lo-Side boxes are), and flareside or step-side beds (Weather Guard lists the Lo-Side for Style Side beds). Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit a Ram 1500?
It is on our fitment list for that truck. Measure the usable length of your bed side rail against this 56" box, since rail length depends on the bed.
Do I need to drill to mount it?
Yes. The Lo-Side install sheet fixes the box with mounting clamps, legs and blind fasteners in drilled holes, so plan for a drill with 3/16", 3/8" and 1/2" bits.
Do I have to drill my truck?
Yes. Weather Guard's Lo-Side install sheet sets blind fasteners in drilled holes, and a stake pocket that blocks a clamp needs a 1/2" hole. Check under the vehicle for fuel lines, the tank and wiring before you drill. For aluminum beds, the bolt kit carries an upfit kit with zinc-rich primer for the holes.
Can I run it next to a crossover box?
Yes. Weather Guard's sheet says to mount the saddle or crossover box first, then set the Lo-Side box with a 1/8" gap between the two and confirm the lid opens fully.
How does the key coding work?
The lock has no preset code: it learns the first Weather Guard key (codes B001 to B050) you code it with, and that cannot be changed later. Each box ships with one pair of matching keys, and further coded boxes can learn the same key. Note your key code, as it cannot be looked up later.
What sizes does the Low Profile Lo-Side come in?
Two lengths, both in aluminum with a 15-ga body: the 56" 178 holds 4.0 ft³ at 44.5 lb, and the 41" 180 holds 3.0 ft³ at 35.5 lb. Each comes in bright aluminum, gloss black, textured matte black or gunmetal gray.
Installation
Here's the short version. Follow Weather Guard's install sheet (below) for the exact positions and hardware.
- Code the locks with your key before first use. Once a lock is coded it cannot be changed; test it five times.
- Fit any saddle or cross box first. Set the side box on the bed, block it up, square it to the bed and level it, with a 1/8" gap to a cross box. Check the lid opens fully.
- Stand each leg square at the rear, inside the wheel-well line, on the bed floor (not a liner or mat). Mark the leg top and foot holes, then repeat for the other leg.
- Take the box out, drill all marks with a 3/16" bit, then open them to 1/2". Set the blind fasteners and bolt the box down with 5/16-18 x 1-1/4" bolts.
- Attach the two mounting clamps with bolt, washer and lock nut. If a stake pocket is in the way, drill it 1/2" level with the bottom of the bed lip.
- Aluminum bed: prime drilled holes with zinc rich primer and use vinyl tape between the J-bolt and the bed.

Weather Guard backs this box with its Limited Lifetime Warranty, issued by Werner Co.: the box is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for its expected lifetime, counted from the day you buy it.- Only the original purchaser is covered, and coverage ends if the box passes to a new owner.
- Every claim needs a copy of the original sales receipt, so keep your Prestige Truck order receipt with your records.
- Werner Co. picks the remedy: it repairs the faulty part or replaces the whole box at no charge for parts or labor, or it may refund what you paid or issue a credit toward a new Weather Guard product.
- Not covered: normal wear and tear, cosmetic rust, scratches, accident damage, repairs Werner Co. did not authorize, misuse, overloading, or a box that was not mounted or used as Weather Guard's written instructions describe. Damage to what is stored in the box or to the vehicle is excluded too.
- Where the law allows, Werner Co. accepts no liability for incidental, special, indirect or consequential damages, economic loss included. This is the only express warranty on Weather Guard products, and no dealer can change it.
- Report a problem promptly once you find it. To start a claim, contact us with your order number and photos of the issue, and we will take it up with Weather Guard for you.

Inspect on delivery
Before mounting, check the carton for the two keys, the two legs, the corner bracket and the bolt kit with its two mounting clamps, then look over the lid seal and finish. Check it as soon as it arrives.- Look for crushed ends, punctures or tears in the carton.
- If something looks wrong, take photos of the box and the parts (and if a driver asks you to sign, note the damage on the receipt).
- Open the box and check the parts against the parts list before you install.
