Check your fit: this 48" x 39.75" unit is on our fitment list for full-size pickups: Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500 HD and 3500 HD; GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 HD and 3500 HD; Ford F-150 (Lightning included) and F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty; Ram 1500, 1500 Classic, 2500 and 3500; Toyota Tundra; Nissan Titan and Titan XD. It needs 48" of flat floor running toward the tailgate and 39.75" of width, so measure between the wheel wells, and the drawer pulls out 45" beyond that line when open.
Not for: mid-size pickups, which are not on this unit's fitment list. Same unit in white: 308-3-04. Other 39.75" wide Pack Rat units: 338-3-04 (white), 338-5-04 (black).
Weather Guard is the truck and van storage brand of Werner Co., the Illinois company also known for its ladders. Its tool boxes are built in the USA, and the line runs from crossover, Lo-Side and gull-wing boxes to chests, underbody boxes, bed drawers, transfer tanks, ladder racks and van shelving.
Weather Guard's current boxes use the 1Key UltraLock, a red push-button lock you can code so one key opens every box on a truck or across a fleet, and many are finished in ARMOR TUF powder coat.
Buying Weather Guard from Prestige Truck. Weather Guard asks for the original sales receipt with any warranty claim, so keep your Prestige Truck order receipt with your records.
That truck is on our fitment list for this unit. Measure your bed floor against the 48" length and 39.75" width before ordering, and leave room for the drawer to roll out.
Weather Guard rates the top of the 308-5-04 at 2,000 lb and the drawer at 425 lb, so you can keep hauling cargo on the deck while the tools ride below.
Yes. Weather Guard's sheet bolts the housing down through holes you drill, using blind fasteners that you seat with the supplied tool and two wrenches. Check there is enough hole depth first, and in an aluminum bed coat the holes with zinc-rich primer and fit a plastic washer on each side of the fastener.
The lock comes fitted at the factory and works on the same key as Weather Guard's other 1Key UltraLock products. Weather Guard's point is that if one key goes missing, the rest of the crew can still open the gear.
Weather Guard's sheet warns against storing flammables, explosives or hazardous materials, naming gasoline containers, solvents, propane and acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Keep it to tools and equipment.
Yes, on units with removable partitions. Take out the partition's two 1/4-20 bolts with two 7/16" wrenches, swing it clear of the rear slots and lift it out; refit it the same way in reverse.
Here's the short version. Follow Weather Guard's install sheet (below) for the exact positions and hardware.

Best purchase I’ve made in a long time. I have to carry a lot of tools in my truck and this made it 10x easier. No more climbing in bed of truck to grab tools. I was also able to keep my Weatherguard toolbox in truck. This was a great addition to my work truck.
Good purchase
Used for delivery vehicle and is stout and works great!
easy to install heavy duty
I've owned my box for over 10 years. I am a Industrial hydraulic mechanic primarily dealing with Oil Drilling rigs & paper Mills. So big tools and big parts. I loaded my box with all my big wrenches up to 3" and sockets up to 5". I also had my big pipe wrenches. Plus all my odds and ends. I'd stack hydraulic winches on top. Roughly 400 lbs ea. I had 4 on top at one time. It would take a beating and never fail. As most field mechanics know. Tool boxes don't last in the back of the bed. Just the road vibrations and bouncing destroys them. Go ahead and spend the money and get you the box that will last forever.
Great product. Was exactly as described. Packaged well and installed with no hassles.
Perfect for storage in the pickup and keeps tools dry
Great product, would strong recommend. Durability and easy of installation was key in my purchase and this met both requirements.
I've been using pack Rats for 15 years, not much has changed. Plan on putting in a new set of rollers every year.
Only had a short time but love the product, keeps all of your tools in one place, without having to move a tool box around all the time. Install was a breeze, but it didnt come with any keys, at least not that i have found so thats why 4 stars!
Have one had it for years also reliable durable and water proof even with 3 feet of snow on it completely dry on the inside . Highly recommend bed space overall great storage with minimal usage of the truck bed.
delivery was on time installation was as exspected
Very well built, sturdy drawer and guides. I would recommend this pack rat to anyone that wants one.
Had this for a couple months now and still loving it. May have to get another one to stack on top of this one.
Great tool holder/drawer for short bed GMC truck. Full extension drawer.
This tool box is great. Its so much better than just a typical bed tool box that everything just gets dumped into and the organization is well lacking. With the Pack Rat, everything stays organized, neat and clean. I never have to jump into the bed searching for a tool or item either. The box locks up so there is no worry about my stuff getting jacked. The grip tape they use on top of the box incredibly grippy also. Installation was easy and straight forward. I live in Florida and we havent had a ton of rain yet, so I cant comment on the box keeping water out, but between car washes and what rain we have had, my tools have stayed dry.
It’s durable, strong and weather proof. It holds everything that side mounted toolboxes will hold.
I have owned a rat pack for 4 years. Do y’all make a better roller. I’ve replaced 3 sets in 4 years (about to replace 4th set in as many years) Box is a good design but rollers suck.
Well built, heavy, draw glides smoothly loaded, I should have purchased the next size up
Great product, worked well for our needs. Slides easy and the compartments are easy to adjust. Our installer has been using it for a month now and is very happy.
I haven't got it installed yet, but the weight tells me everything I need to know about it
So I'm an automation tech and this is an awesome tool and parts storage idea. I rated low on features because I can not find any sort of drop in tool organizers. If the company would come up with accessories to organize tools such as sockets, wrenches, and other hand tools this would put the company on top of the world.
I buy a lot of tool boxes for my company’s fleet trucks weather guards are with out a doubt the best boxes out there.
It was exactly what I ordered
Worth every penny
installed a couple weeks ago and so far very pleased with it. Seems very well built
Best tool box ever made, have own one for few years slide inn and out perfect even with a 55 gal drum full of engine oil on top of it
Perfect width for all my power tools without taking up all my bed space. My tools are more organized and accessible now.
Well built, heavy duty
Great great great
best thing I have purchased for my truck. weather guard is the only way to go.
Exactly what I expected. Works great in my Sienna Van. Keeps me more organized.
American made. Nuff said. Quality is amazing
My only regret is that I should have purchased the taller one. But a well built unit.
This unit works perfectly! I’m so happy with it. If you buy one, you will love it too! Super quality!
This is awesome to be able organize all my toolsAnd easy to access
I used this product back in 1997 and it served me well in my job. I changed some rollers and repainted and re did the grip strips. I eventually put on a topper to keep things dry which kept it like new. I am considering a new one for my next truck just for the convenience and weight even though I am retired.
The rat pack was great and met all my expectations.
Lots of room cabinet and still able to stack stuff on top of unit
Best decision i ever made was buying this pack rat for my truck. I work in the oilfield and is very conviniant for me!
Great quality product all around. No complaints
In the past I have owned tool boxes of many makes and styles. I always wanted a weathergaurd. During these times I couldn't afford one. Now that I can I'm not disappointed. This box brings quality to a new level. This box is the most durable and strongest built box I have ever owned
quality product, great value, shipped and received quickly
Delivery was almost missed because of our address being way out in the country, but luckily I called the delivery company and they got it to my location. Great tool box and free delivery what's not to like. Installation was not too either.
Heavy duty construction vert desirable..Fills the bill. Ease of drawer opening ang closing very nice.Just installed. At the price point should come with some drawer lining material.
I bought this to remedy a storage issue under a bed cover. The narrow width allows for larger/taller objects to sit in the bed and still allow the bed cover to close properly. Sturdy steel construction. Easy mounting. Sound locking mechanism. Nice product.
I have had my model 308 for 9 years couldn’t imagine not having one it has survived 4 trucks and shows little sign of wear Great tool !!!!!!
Great product easy to install great for tight places. Haven’t had it long so don’t know how it will hold up over time. A little too expensive for the smaller size.
Bought them and returned them only because they were just a little too wide for the truck i was setting up , but the over all build quality is awesome if the made a box 13"wide id have them
Rat pack was easy to install. Locking latch was a little stiff. If to much weight was in the front it would not shut correctly. Had to put all heavy items in the back.
It's a great tool box, but two weeks into having it the drawer started grinding when I would close it.. I'm sad
Love this tool box, but replacement cost is unreasonable. I've spent over half the purchase price replacing rollers under drawer in the six years I've owned it. Thanks
I choked on the price and was afraid that it would rattle...as it weighs so much. I'm pleased to report that I've had it mounted and running in a small pickup (tacoma) for weeks with not a single complaint. There are a could of features that are a little odd. The pin that fastens the drawer shut is square and you have to push the button down to shut the unit. This may be a safety device forcing you to think through shutting the drawer and consciously pushing the button to close the heavy drawer. I'm a fly fishing guide and get compliments on the level of organization and sturdy appearance. Love this thing. Kept me from having to get a shell for my truck.
Everyone expected and more other than the fact one of the keys were bent and I only received one box of deviders instead of three but I will be caling in to the manufacture to get them.
Great divided drawers for parts and things under 6" but already very heavy and me only 120lbs it's very hard to pull the drawer out. Great use of space too
