How we made this guide: picks and specs come from our catalog and fitment data, owner quotes come from verified reviews and every guide is checked and edited by Trevor Hall.
The best gooseneck hitch is the one built for your exact truck, and in our range that is a B&W Turnoverball under-bed kit, such as the GNRK1320 for the 2019 to 2026 Ram 2500 and 3500 (from $599) or the GNRK1121 for the 2015 to 2026 Ford F-150 (from $599). We carry B&W for gooseneck hitches, so every pick is a Turnoverball kit and your truck's year, make and model decide which one fits.
All eight kits we list are priced under $700 and share one set of listed ratings: gross trailer weight 30,000 lb and vertical tongue weight 7,500 lb with the included 2-5/16 in ball, never above your truck's own rating.

How a B&W Turnoverball under-bed gooseneck hitch works
A Turnoverball is an under-bed gooseneck: nothing is drilled or welded on the frame, the brackets bolt to holes already in it and the bed floor gets one 4 in round hole for the receiver.
The ball is what turns over. Our listings describe a spring-loaded handle in the wheel well that releases a 5/8 in steel pin, so you lift the ball out, flip it and drop it back in upside down for a flat bed floor.
B&W builds the Turnoverball in Humboldt, Kansas. It says its hitches are tested to SAE J2638, the fifth wheel and gooseneck standard. Every kit here carries B&W's limited lifetime warranty.
The same square socket takes B&W's single-point Companion and Companion Slider fifth wheel hitches, sold separately, such as the single-point Companion from $1,099. The Companion models built for factory pucks do not mount in it.

What to check before you order
- Year, make, model and trim. Match all four to the listing's fitment table. The one 1-star review on file is from an owner whose kit did not fit a 2017 Nissan Titan, a truck none of these kits covers.
- Bed, exhaust and factory prep. Read the fit notes on the CarbonPro bed, dual exhaust and the F-450 factory bed. If a prep package or puck system leaves you unsure, ask us first.
- Lift kit. Our listings say a suspension lift is fine and a body lift is not.
- Bed length and turning clearance. Our listings say bed length, cab configuration and turning clearance still matter, so measure from the ball to the cab and from the trailer coupler to the widest point of the trailer nose before towing, above all on a short bed. They also note that B&W's 4 in extender moves the pivot 4 in rearward for clearance and carries a lower 20,000 lb gross trailer weight rating.
- Delivery. Seven of the eight kits ship as two boxes that can arrive on different days, so book the install after both are here.
Center section and mounting kit listings are parts
Listings titled Center Section Only, such as the GNRC1252, are replacement parts in the Gooseneck Hitch Component family. The full kits above include the center section and the mounting kit.
Other B&W hitch types we carry
We also carry B&W fifth wheel hitches, such as the rail-mounted Patriot 18K from $799, plus Tow & Stow ball mounts and a Continuum weight distribution hitch. See B&W trailer hitches or our guide to trailer hitch types.
Installing a Turnoverball kit
Our gooseneck hitch install guide covers the tools, steps and cost. Watch it go on a 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon.
Owners mention moving or removing a heat shield, muffler or tail pipe on some trucks. One warns that wiring along the frame will chafe if not addressed.
Safety: the lowest rating in the chain wins
Compare your truck maker's tow rating and payload (owner's manual or door sticker), the kit's ratings and your loaded trailer's weight and rating. The lowest number is your limit, and the truck maker's towing capacity and payload must never be exceeded, whatever the hitch is rated for. On a half-ton such as the F-150, Ram 1500, Silverado 1500, Sierra 1500 or Tundra, the truck's own ratings, not the kit's 30,000 lb, will set the limit.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best gooseneck hitch for my truck?
The B&W Turnoverball kit listed for your exact year, make and model. All eight share the same ratings, so fit decides.
What is a 2-5/16 in gooseneck ball rated for?
The listings pair the included ball with a gross trailer weight of 30,000 lb and a vertical tongue weight of 7,500 lb, never above your truck's rating. For loads over 30,000 lb the listing names B&W's 3 in ball, GNXA2025, sold separately.
Are B&W gooseneck hitches universal?
No. Each kit is cut for one truck platform and its year span, such as the 2015 to 2026 F-150 for the GNRK1121, so a kit for another truck or the generation before or after will not bolt on. Match your year, make and model to the table above.
Turnoverball vs puck system: what is the difference?
A puck system is the truck maker's own factory prep, which B&W describes as a 5-hole towing system installed on the frame, with four pucks in the bed floor. A Turnoverball is an aftermarket under-bed kit for a truck without that prep: its brackets bolt to existing frame holes and the bed gets one 4 in hole. If your truck already has the factory pucks, a fifth wheel drops straight into them with a puck-mount hitch, such as the B&W Companion models we carry for Ford, Ram and GM pucks, so ask us before you order a Turnoverball for that truck. If you want one setup for a gooseneck and a fifth wheel, B&W recommends its single-point Companion on an under-bed mount like the Turnoverball.
How do you remove a B&W Turnoverball ball?
Our listings describe it this way: pull the spring-loaded handle in the wheel well toward you and rotate it slightly left so the 5/8 in pin locks out, then lift the ball out. To stow it, drop it back in upside down and rotate or push the handle right so the latch springs back into place. If a neglected ball sticks, soak it with penetrating oil for a day or two, tap lightly around it and never use heat.
What are the different types of gooseneck trailer hitches?
The main split is where the hitch mounts. An under-bed kit such as the Turnoverball bolts to the frame below the bed. A fifth wheel hitch is a different coupler that mounts on bed rails, in the truck maker's factory pucks or in the Turnoverball socket, like the single-point Companion.
What is better, a gooseneck or a hitch?
It depends on the trailer, because the coupler on the trailer decides what the truck needs. We sell no receiver hitches. Our gooseneck vs bumper pull guide compares capacity, stability and cost.
