The panel is what separates the F1 from the rest of the family. Where the G2 uses solid-core aluminum panels, the F1 substitutes a rigid high-density foam core between an FRP top skin and a powder-coated aluminum bottom skin. The FRP surface takes the impacts, dents, and scratches that would mark bare aluminum, and it wears a glossy textured finish rather than a painted one, so there is nothing to chip or flake. Heavy-duty aluminum side rails add strength and give the panels something solid to latch into.

Day to day it works the way a hard fold should. Drop the tailgate, release the rear latches, and fold the F1 toward the bulkhead to expose two thirds of the bed, then secure the stack with the integrated buckle straps and drive. Warranty. 5-Year Limited Warranty from BAK Industries against defects in materials and workmanship, backed by US-based product support. It does not cover accident damage, neglect, improper installation, or improper servicing. To keep it valid, clean the cover with mild automotive soap and water only, secure it at all points before driving, re-check the clamps for tightness about a week after installation, clear snow and ice before opening, and remove the cover if the truck has to be towed from the rear.
