The BAKFlip FiberMax is a hard folding tonneau cover from BAK Industries, made in truck-specific versions for full-size and mid-size pickups. Each version is cut for one bed length, and on some trucks for one bed option, such as RamBox on Ram, the Deck Rail System on Toyota, or beds without Ford's Cargo Management System or GMC's CarbonPro bed. Every version carries textured gloss-black FRP top panels on an aluminum substructure, a 300 lb rating (evenly distributed) and BAK's 3-year limited warranty, and most clamp on with no drilling into the bed rails.

BAK Industries makes hard tonneau covers for pickups, among them the BAKFlip hard folding covers and the Revolver roll-up line. BAK's install sheets and customer service come from BAK Industries in Springfield, Missouri.
The FiberMax is the BAKFlip with textured FRP top panels on an aluminum frame, rated at 300 lb with a 3-year warranty. The F1 shares the FRP look with a foam core and a 400 lb rating, and the G2 uses solid-core aluminum-skinned panels.

Start with your truck's make, model and year, then measure the bed along the rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. Match that to the version for your truck, then check the options BAK makes separate parts for: RamBox on Ram, the Deck Rail System on Toyota, Ford's Cargo Management System, the CarbonPro bed on the GMC Sierra 1500, and old versus new body in changeover years such as 2019 on GM. Each version's page lists what it fits and what it does not, or send us your VIN and we will confirm.
Truck makers and accessory brands round bed lengths differently, so the same box can carry two names. Each version's page uses BAK's bed label for that part. Measure your bed and compare, or send us your VIN.
Both have textured gloss-black fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) tops. The F1's panels have a high-density foam core, are rated at 400 lb and carry a 5-year warranty. The FiberMax uses FRP top panels on an aluminum substructure, is rated at 300 lb and carries a 3-year warranty.
It is built to. EPDM rubber hinges and outer rail seals keep most water out, and an internal channel sends what gets past them out through drain hoses. The tailgate seal is a conventional one, so close the tailgate before the cover. BAK's install sheet notes the cover is not airtight, and clearing snow and ice before opening is a warranty condition.
BAK rates the closed FiberMax at 300 lb, evenly distributed. Its install sheet also says not to tie cargo to the cover or drive with objects on top of it, so treat the rating as a measure of strength, not as a roof rack.
Yes. Folded once, the nylon buckle straps hold it; folded against the rear window, engage the prop rods. BAK's warranty requires the cover to be secured at all points whenever the truck is moving.

I love the cover, but when you drive with it partially open strapped in place there is a sharp edge that rubs on the outer weather stripping. I filed the sharp edge and added some additional weather stripping.

Cover looks good and is easy to put on. Only issue Ive had is the front corners closest to the cab do not seat properly and let water in on rainy days. Set should come with two angled foam seals for the front corners. Not a difficult fix just annoying to find after full install.
The instructions were a little confusing at first, but once I figured it out, it only took about 30 minutes to install.

The install was pretty straightforward and took under an hour. Super happy with security that it provides, protecting the bed contents from theft. I took it through an automatic car wash day 1, and was impressed. There was some water intrusion in the corners, but it was very minimal. We took a road trip from Texas to Florida and encountered a nasty thunderstorm. I'd say the bed was about 90% dry. Super satisfied with the performance.
Overall it’s a good cover. I used it in the folded position and it scratched pretty easily.

I reviewed and actually talked to people in parking lots of restaurants and shopping and asked them about their tonneau tops. The only one who was 100% satisfied with their product was the BAKFlip owner. It is a solid cover that clicks into place and locks securely. It is not completely waterproof but with the soft mattress I purchased with it any water stays below in the ridges of the bed cover. I highly recommend this product...you get what you pay for.

I’ve had the Bakflip tonneau cover on my 2019 Ram 5.6 bed for about 6 months now, 3 months in FL and 3 in MI. So far no complaints. My gas mileage improved by about 3 mpg (5.7 hemi). Very happy with this product, but it’s not cheap.
installed properly... but does not create a seal or even close to a seal. I'll need to add third party gasket material.
It’s about 80% water proof. Some leaks on the sides from standing water that “pools” up, but not bad at all.

Fantastic hard cover. Easily a huge upgrade from vinyl and installation was a breeze. There is a fantastic video that walks you through step-by-step how to put it on, and it took under an hour. The ability for the cover to fold back in sections and still stay secure is a major plus. I love how the black gloss matched my paint very closely, and even my wife commented on how much better the truck looks. If you’re gonna spend tens of thousands of dollars on your vehicle, then why not invest a little bit to keep the items in the back secure, while also looking great.

This is my fourth Bakflip, I really like the way they look
I chose this cover over a couple others after a few months of research. The fact that it has 4 sections makes it really easy to handle. The release on both sides makes it convenient from either side. It has been water tight so far. Install was fairly easy needing just a couple minor adjustments to make sure it sit well. The only issue, which is minor, is that the weather strip in the last panel next to tail gate tends to slide side to side from being opened and closed often. All in all a great purchase.
Put it on my 2018 honda ridgeline. Was very easy to install. Does leak a little when it rains, but nothing to complain about. Very good cover. On the ridgeline, you about 3 inches in the with of the bed because you need to install additional rails to install the cover. The directions for this were a little confusing. Other than that, no complaints.

When you roll it up, the pieces that hold the panels together come out. This results in the cover not sitting flush until you puts them back in place. A simple pin through teach one would prevent this from happening. Buy a roll of flex tape if you want it to be waterproof.
The install was far easier than the instructions indicated. It's obvious that the instructions weren't updated for the 2024 Ranger because it has parts that aren't listed on the instructions and it goes together easier once you figure it out. It fits well, though I'm not sure its entirely waterproof. Time will tell. The look is outstanding and all I had hoped for. We'll see if the rubber seals hold up to the weather any better than the leather of most covers. That will be the real test. It's not year one I'm concerned with, it's years three through five.

Overall a nice product and easy to install. Have drove through a heavy rain storm for few hours and had minimal leaking around a few edges. If your tailgate locks it's nice to be able to lock all your items in the bed. I installed it alone and wasnt that difficult, maybe an hour.

This cover has exceeded my expectations. It was easy to install, although I did snap one of the bolts in the process, so the bolts could be a bit stronger. The cover fits the 6' bed of my 2017 Toyota Tacoma perfectly, and opens and closes with ease. It withstands the rain, snow and ice here in Maine. It has a great seal, and is essentially waterproof - the only time a bit of moisture got in was during a six hour drive on highways through a pouring rain. Otherwise, it is watertight. Best of all, it looks great. Couldn't be happier.
Good quality materials, easy to install, very practical and simple for daily use. You need to be precise on the clamps alignment, it took me several tries before I got it right, getting this way correct alignment of the rails and proper sealing. Highly recommend this product.
The video and instructions don't really explain how to strap down when cover is completely opened. The knobs to tighten the hinge receptor when wanting to prop up cover keep coming off. I've tried a few things to address that, will see if it works Beautiful Tonneau cover and easy to install.
had to put a wood shim 1/4 inch shim down the length of the rail..they don't make it yet for the 2017 titan..but with the wood shim fit perfect...put these on 5 truck of mine already..great product..this top fit for 2015 titan an below...will fit the 2017 with that small shim

I bought this product a few weeks ago and it's great. No leaks, secure and no noise. It was an easy installation. Nice appearance.
I have read other reviews on different cover and this one has rigid material - not fabric nor vinyl material that can be vandalized easily. I also like the way it fit the around the bed. Not getting five stars due to the cost and have to close the tailgate before you close the last flap (otherwise the rubber seal get pinched or damaged). Installation took a little time with the clamps which slipped when not aligned correctly, needed another person to help with the cover installation. Minor water intrusion but took care of it with a little silicon. Overall I am satisfied with the product.
I will update this reciew after i receive my replacement cover. Many issue in receiving 1st, having to reorder.. received it and it does not fit properly. Spoke with CS Manager John and I am supposed to get a new unit. Still waiting, holiday shipping "may" have delayed the replacement. I must say customer service has been great, when you can get them on the phone. Very poor follow up though.

I think these covers are great. Very easy to install - they are expensive though. Very easy to flip up and have access to your entire bed. Not completely waterproof, but I didn't expect it to be. Not because of the cover, but all the other spots water can get into the bed, mostly around tail gate. Not much, just a little, even after a torrential downpour or car wash. I am completely satisfied with this cover. Exactly what I wanted.
The cover fit perfectly to my truck. I wish the drainage system was engineered better but it will suffice. Overall I'm happy with my cover.
I love this cover! I'm a cinematographer, and it keeps my equipment and lights perfectly dry, even in crazy monsoon rains. Yet, I can still utilize my full bed space and keep my bed extender in the back without having to remove anything. I can store my equipment in the back and travel with it all locked up, or I can flip the cover open and film commercials for other trucks right from the bed while someone else drives. It's even better than I anticipated, and I couldn't be any happier!

Overall great product! Real easy to install, took about 45 min to install the cover with the BakBox option, The supplied weather stripping seals tight, rained for 4 days after I installed and no water leakage into the truck bed at all, even driving at highway speeds in heavy rain.
I put this on in about 45 min with my wife help. be careful with the back seal, mine come loose in just a few days. they did send a replacement.

I had 3 installed by a professional shop. All 3 leaked so bad everything got soaked. Couldn’t been any worse not having a cover at all. They all leaked at the rubber joint that folded and also ran down the wire you pulled to fold the cover. 3 new covers = 3 leaking covers.
It’s a very nice cover but I think it should have been a little longer. It’s as far back on the bulkhead as it can go and the tailgate barely touches the rear seal.
My cover fits perfectly and was able to install fairly easily, but the instructions could be confusing and I was missing a couple of screws for tie downs.
overall I love this cover. It does leak some water near the center of the cover, but overall it stays pretty dry in the bed. Installing the clips/buckles that mount near the cab was an absolute joke. Shards of metal inside the screw holes prevented the screws from threading all of the way through. Had to drill them out and pull out any metal shards that were interfering.
Product has been pretty great so far. I just wish it had the ability to close the tailgate with the bed cover down.

In Step 1 of the instructions, there was no mention of where to place the front weather strip on the rail. When I first installed it, it was too far front, resulting in the back strip not overlapping the tailgate. I removed the cover, peeled up the strip, moved about 1.5" back, and reinstalled the cover. It was still too short. Now I nave to get more adhesive to move the strip a 3rd time to get the cover to fit. Instructions should have said to put the initial strip down at the closest edge to the bed. Once I fixed this, the cover is great.

I have a fleet of trucks and I routinely buy BakFlip covers for them. My most recent purchase was a disaster and disappointing. The cover was shipped with one rail too short. Getting the correct part was nearly impossible. The service people were rude and non responsive. They finally shipped a complete cover kit instead of simply the single part that was needed. We had to then hassle with the whole new kit, then send everything back (minus the single part we actually needed) Terrible service, terrible attitude of service staff. The covers have been great but you better hope you don’t have any issues because they are incompetent and rude to work with.
I purchase this cover for a camping trip, I received this Back flip just in time to install and hit the road. What I didn't realize is an attached paper in the instructions telling me that if I didn't register online for the warranty within 2 week I would lose all warranty. So- on my trip I started having problems with the locking latch and the cable that you pull to open a section of the panel that flips. What I noticed is a small 2 or 3 inch aluminum section that is screwed into the aluminum panel, this panel has 4 set screws attached to keep the cable release stretched tight and locked, but when you bull the cable to open the panels are locked shut, the set screws are stripped out in the aluminum and are laying in the bed of the truck! I have a total of 6 set screws that fell out and you can't re-install because of the aluminum being stripped out. So the only way to fix this is…
It's solid and was fairly easy to install. I have a 2022 Silverado w/5.5 ft bed. Since it is 1.5" short in my opinion, it leaks, even under a light rsin. I adjusted it so that it covers the tailgate but also still butts up to the front of the bed. I readjusted my gasket to stop it but it doesn't. I really got it for security if I have stuff in the bed. For that, it works well.
Very sturdy. Looks GREAT. Probably keeps your stuff safe in your tonneau, but let’s a good bit of water in when it rains. Overall pretty happy but main reason for purchase was to keep things (golf clubs) dry.
