Features

  • Folds open for bed access: Fold the panels forward to the cab and secure them, and the whole bed is open; BAK says you can drive with the cover fully open that way. BAK's install sheet gives two ways to carry it open: folded and strapped at the bulkhead, or flipped up against the cab on locked prop rods.
  • Automatic slam latches: Each panel locks to the side rails as it closes, through BAK's patented rail and clamp system and automatic slam latches. To open it, lower the tailgate and pull the release cable on either side.
  • Sheds rain and debris: Precision-fit EPDM rubber perimeter seals and rounded hinges are designed to keep water and debris out, and a built-in drainage system carries off what gets past them through drain tubes. BAK's own sheet notes the cover is not airtight, so it is weather-resistant rather than waterproof.
  • Light solid-core panels: The panels have solid cores with aircraft-grade aluminum skins, which BAK says adds strength without adding much weight. BAK rates the closed cover at 300 lb, evenly distributed.
  • No-drill clamp-on install: BAK's patented rail and clamp system mounts without drilling into the bed rails on most trucks, and BAK puts most installs at 30 minutes or less with basic hand tools. A few trucks use brackets or bolt-in rails instead; each truck's page shows its own method.
  • Low-profile, lasting finish: It sits low on the bed rails, and the corrosion-resistant black powder coat is made to resist fading, chipping and flaking. BAK says the finish meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality benchmarks.

Description & Fitment

If you drive a 2004-2006 Toyota Tundra with the 6'2" bed (Double Cab), this is the BAKFlip G2 sized for it. You get a 300 lb rating (evenly distributed), plus a low profile on the bed rails. Install is clamp-on, three clamps per side, with no drilling into the bed rails. Folded against the cab, it leaves the full bed open. It carries BAK's 3-year limited warranty.

Fitment & Compatibility

Toyota
Years Model Bed Notes
2004-2006 Tundra 6'2" Double Cab

Check your bed: measure along the top of the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. This cover is for the 6'2" bed. BAK lists it for the Double Cab.

Not for: other bed lengths or trucks not listed in the fitment table.

About BAK Industries

BAK Industries makes hard tonneau covers for pickups, among them the BAKFlip hard folding covers and the Revolver roll-up line. BAK's install sheets and customer service come from BAK Industries in Springfield, Missouri.

The G2 is the BAKFlip with solid-core, aluminum-skinned panels; BAK calls it the original hard fold cover that set the standard. The F1 and FiberMax are BAKFlip models with fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) tops, and the F1 carries a 400 lb rating and a 5-year warranty.

Authorized BAK dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized BAK Industries dealer. BAK's warranty is for the initial owner who buys the cover, and BAK states: "Warranty registration must be on file and/or proof of original purchase (detailed and dated receipt) required for warranty to be effective." Keep your order confirmation; contact us for registration help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my 2004-2006 Tundra?

Yes, if it has the 6'2" bed. BAK lists it for the Double Cab. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate, or send us your VIN and we will confirm.

Will it work with my bed liner?

Yes. BAK's sheet says no bulkhead seal is needed with a drop-in bed liner, and the drain tubes can run behind the liner.

How is the G2 different from the BAKFlip F1 and FiberMax?

All three are BAKFlip hard folding covers. The G2 uses solid-core panels with aircraft-grade aluminum skins, is rated at 300 lb and carries a 3-year warranty. The F1 has fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) top skins over a high-density foam core, is rated at 400 lb and carries a 5-year warranty. The FiberMax has FRP top panels on an aluminum substructure, a 300 lb rating and a 3-year warranty.

Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?

It is built to. EPDM rubber perimeter seals and rounded hinges keep out most water and debris, and the drainage system carries off what gets past them through drain tubes. BAK's install sheet notes the cover is not airtight, so keep anything that must stay dry in a sealed container. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is also a warranty condition.

Can I carry cargo on top of the cover?

BAK rates the closed G2 at 300 lb, evenly distributed. Its install sheet also says not to tie cargo to the cover or drive with objects on top of it, so treat the rating as a measure of strength, not as a roof rack.

Can I drive with it open?

Yes. Folded forward, it is held by the straps and buckles at the bulkhead; flipped up against the cab, the prop rods lock it in place. BAK's warranty requires the cover to be secured at all points whenever the truck is moving.

Installation

Install time 30 minutes or less (BAK, most applications)
DifficultyLevel 1simple installation (BAK)
TypeClamp-on, no drilling into the bed rails
Tools
  • 1/2" wrench or socket and a Phillips screwdriver
  • plus isopropyl alcohol, scissors, and a drill only if you route the drain tubes through the bulkhead

Here's the short version. Follow BAK's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions and settings.

  1. Prep the bed. Make sure the areas where the cover mounts are clean. If your kit has a bulkhead seal, clean the top of the bulkhead with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, let it dry and stick the seal from one edge to the other, trimming the excess (no seal is needed with a drop-in bed liner). If your kit has rubber filler strips, stick them between the plastic bed cap and the metal rail.
  2. Set the side rails. Set each side rail flush with the top edge of the bed rail, drain end toward the cab, pushed all the way forward and square to the bed. Fit the drain tubes to the front of the rails and run them behind a bed liner, through the bed plugs or through a 5/8" hole drilled in the bulkhead.
  3. Clamp the rails. Fit three clamps per side: the front one 6-8" from the bulkhead, the rear one as close to the tailgate as you can, the middle one centered. Seat each clamp as high as it goes with the rail level with the bed cap, then tighten them to 10 ft-lb with a 1/2" wrench or socket; don't over-tighten. Repeat on the other side.
  4. Fit the cover. Slide the two cover retainer clamps into the track under the cover near the cab, and screw the two strap buckles to the front panel by hand with a Phillips screwdriver (BAK says no screw gun). Set the folded cover on the rails at the cab end, centered between them, and turn the retainer clamps clockwise until the lock washer is secure.
  5. Unfold and square it up. With the cover still folded, clean its top edge where it meets the cab (soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol) and stick the cab bumpers along it. Unfold the cover to the tailgate and check that each panel is centered side to side and front to back; the tail panel should overlap the tailgate by about 1/2". Shift it on the loosened retainer clamps if needed, then re-tighten them. With a power tailgate, make sure it still opens and closes with the cover shut.
  6. Check the latches. Release each latch to make sure it catches the side rails; the sheet shows how to adjust a slam latch that hits or misses. BAK's warranty asks you to re-check every clamp after the first week of driving and now and then after that.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • 3-year limited warranty

BAK covers the BAKFlip G2 against defects in materials and workmanship for 3 years from the original purchase date.
    • BAK's limited warranty runs three (3) years for its G2 and FiberMax covers, from the original purchase date.
    • A defective cover or hardware part is repaired or replaced at BAK's option. BAK may instead substitute a newer model of similar form and function, offer a warranty discount on a complete replacement system, or provide another remedy.
    • It covers the original buyer only and is not transferable. BAK states: "Warranty registration must be on file and/or proof of original purchase (detailed and dated receipt) required for warranty to be effective." Contact us for registration help.
    • To keep it valid: clean only with mild automotive soap and water; keep the cover secured at all points while the truck is moving; check all clamps and retention parts for tightness after the first week of driving (and after any re-install) and now and then after that; clear snow, ice and anything else off before opening; and never tow the truck from the rear with the cover on (take it off and store it first). BAK's install sheet adds that insect repellents, oils, solvents and lubricants can damage the rubber hinges and seals and void the warranty.
    • Claims: get a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number from BAK customer service before sending anything back. BAK may ask for the part, postage prepaid, to make a final decision; shipping charges apply to a repair or replacement, with no other charge.
    • Not covered: damage from an accident, neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation or servicing, or any other cause that isn't a defect in materials or workmanship.

Tundra Takes More Effort

More steps to install on a Tundra, but worth the extra effort. I have had several covers on other trucks, Titans and Tundras and they all allowed a “little” water in the bed, but not this one! Been through the car wash three times since installed and the only water was at the tailgate. Very impressive. Cover looks great on my truck!

I have had this bed

I have had this bed cover about 6 months, outstanding product. I lloked at many different ones prior to purchasing and this is one of the only covers that still allows for full function of the bed. The locking security is great and its water proof. With the gutter system and drain tube that are engineered into the design is doesnt leak at all. Simple to install, in fact I thought I did it wrong at first because it went so fast. The color and texture match the factory bedrails, its also very low profile. It sits in between the bed rails, not on top of them. I have it in an 08' Tundra Crew Max, highly recommend.

The Bakflip installed quickly and

The Bakflip installed quickly and easily. The Quality of the unit was very good and it is easy to use on a daily basis. I can still get my golf clubs out of the trunk without any problems even though the trunk will not open as far as it did without the cover. I have taken the cover off when I needed to carry a lot of items and the rails did not interfere with tying down anything in the bed. I stored the cover in my garage, but am pretty sure it would fit on the floorboard area of the back seats just fine. The only negative is that the unit is tough to get to seal completely near the rear window and lets some water in during washes or extended periods of rain. This is not a huge negative to me as I knew that the caover would not seal perfectly. I just wanted a decent looking bedcover that would be keep my items reasonably dry during short trips. Overall for me the unit gets 4 out of 5…

Perfect for me

I had the same cover on my other truck so I already knew what to expect. Its not completely water proof some water does seep in but not much. I can deal with it for the protection I get. The quality is top notch and. I would definitely recommend getting this if you like to keep things in your bed and want to know they will be there when you need them.

Amazing product

I bought a new truck a few years back. I came across Backflip on a friends truck and had to have it. Not only does a Backfip enhance the look of your truck it secures your load, from golf clubs to tools. My stuff is out of sight and secured. Not mention alittle boost in gas mileage, total win win. So when I purchsed and another new truck last month....first thing on my "got to have list" was a Backflip !

Works great, and lighter than my last one.

This is my second G2 purchased for a Chevy 2500 HD. My first was in 2016 for a Toyota Tundra. This last one seems much lighter and easier to lift and maneuver than the first one. Seems a bit thinner, but still strong and what I expect. Its very good at keeping the bed contents nearly 100% dry, although some hard rain gets in a little. Goes thru car washes fine too, with very little water seeping into the bed. Highly recommended. If you are a truck cap person, you probably won't like it, but if you are a tonneau cover person, you'll love it.

BakFlip G2 Tonneau Cover

Third BakFlip G2 cover I have owned which should explain a lot. My new one has an added feature of straps that allow one to keep the cover flat in the open position so one can see out the rear view mirror. When we travel we haul items in the back and feel it is pretty secure and have never had any problems with people trying to break in. I made a recommendation to a friend who bought one for his Tundra pickup. Have had other truck owners walk up to me and ask what kind of cover I had. Don’t know if any bought but others have shown an interest.

Stop whatever you are doing and buy one now!

The BAKFlip G2 is a very well constructed topper consisting of top quality materials. I installed the BAKFlip on my 02 Toyota tundra in about 45 minutes and it only took me that long because it was the first one I'd ever installed one. I really like the way it lays against the back of the cab when loading or traveling. It doesn't act like an air brake when you're driving at speed like the one I used to have of a different brand on my previous truck that propped open with rods that were screwed to the underside of the topper. AND, if you pushed against it while folded up and secured with the prop rods, the screws would pop out of the aluminum underside of the cover it was fastened to!!! I have an eight foot bed on my tundra so I was a little but off by the extra price of a hard cover. But, after years of trying to keep things from blowing out out of my truck bed (many times…

Bakflip G2 tonneau cover

Cover did not fit with my bed liner even though it says it will. So I had to cut parts of my bed liner out!! My tailgate doesn’t fully close now. Because the rails are a tiny bit longer than my box. Also directions were very poor. Had to adjust the cover to fit my box which was quite easy although directions did not explain how to, so it took me 4 hours to install!! Lastly it is not fully water proof water gets in my box at the 2 corners closest to the cab. Not worth the money!

Built like a Sherman Tank

I bought my BAKflip G2 used about a year after I purchased my new 2015 Tundra. The man was putting on a camper shell on his Tundra and didn't need this. After 8 years of being parked outside 24/7/365 this thing still works as well as the day I installed it. No leaks, no rattles, nothing. I was able to install this by myself in about an hour, being completely OCD and making sure everything was perfect. The ONLY thing that will need to be replaced very soon are the two buckles that the straps hook up to. The California sun has taken its toll on these. The best part is, the parts are still available and are reasonably priced.

This is the third type of cover I have owned and I can say for sure that it's the best. It installed easily and look incredible on My Toyota Tundra. I choose this tonneau cover because of the flush fit it has over the truck bed. It looks very nice. The down side is it does get some water in the bed when it’s closed from the tail gate area. This happens while washing the truck or in heavy downpours. At the front of the bed, the seal strip that’s provided could be a little bit thicker for us guys who don’t have a bed liner yet. When the product arrived and I opened the box, there was aluminum shavings on the cover itself. I had to clean it off before installing it. Over all I do like the bedcover.

Not a great fit.

The package didn’t come with any small adjustment pads for the rail and it wouldn’t level up. Lucky I had something that would work for a level rail. Then once installed 2 of the snap clips that hold the liner down won’t snap on the rail.

BAKFlip G2 Bedcover for 2026 Chevy 2500

The cover was boxed up very good and arrived with no damage. It was easy to install and very good quality. The last one that I had on a different truck was tri fold and this one is quad fold which allows me to open first panel with one arm without straining my shoulder.

So far so good. I hat a little bit of water in the tailgate area but really not a big deal. I really like how they fold up and the snaps are integrated into the cover itself. And I like how all 4 fold up.

Decent cover

I really like the looks of the cover on my truck. Although i have noticed it seems like the black is already beginning to chip away in various spots. I had a frustrating time when it came to delivery of the product, recieved without hardware for installation. Had to wait a few extra days for that to arrive. Found one of the seals to be cut. Modified it so i didnt have to deal with returning and reordering process. I like the ease of operation of this cover.

BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover

This is my second BAKFlip tonneau cover. Unlike soft covers the BAKFlip won’t sag under the weight of snow. It’s super easy to use and Installation is a snap. They look sharp, keep your gear dry and increase your gas mileage. I won’t hesitate to buy another.

Clamps – not good

Generally, this tonneau cover is sturdy as described and looks great on the truck. However, there must be a better system to attach the rails. The clamps were unwieldy. The directions were difficult to figure out, and I had to take it off and put on two times to get it right. Because it came loose, I generally drive with a bit of a nervous stomach, thinking it’ll pop off at any time.

Bakflip

The Bak Flip needs to be a 1/4 inch wider to ensure all cover flip cover locks engage when closing the cover.

Good, but could be better

Disappointed that when I got it out of the box one of clips for the strap/buckle was completely broken. Protects from water for the most part unless parked at an angle in which case your bed completely gets drenched.

Disappointed

The fit and adjustment of the latches is subpar. The rail ends are not designed well and should engage the rails more to provide secure fitment. The rail ends will be one of those things that be a point of frustration. disappointed.

Could be better

I have bought in the past and installation and fit was good. Bought for my f-250 and had to make some adjustments to rails. Also it has a hard time engaging at tailgate area. Need to force it to close. Hopefully with some wear it will close better.

The finish of the big

The finish of the big flap closest to the cab is much more shiny than the other 2, and it seems to have a slightly different texture as well. It is definitely from a different batch of material, therefore the difference in the finish.

basic design is good- missing

basic design is good- missing two lockdown bolts, washers and knobs- even if i had them they wouldnt fit in the front holes next to the drain- the prop rod for the cover has broken on the left side already- cheap fasteners not able to handle the load-

Very nice cover, fairly easy

Very nice cover, fairly easy install, but the rubber sealer strips along the rails at all four corners were just glued one over the other and peeled apart as soon as I installed the cover. Also seemed to somewhat leak through bi-folds during heavy rain, as top of cover from the inside seemed wet. May have just run across from the side not entirely sure.

Do not buy for a Ford Ranger

Great bed cover as a product, but the Ranger specific instructions were hard to follow, not well written, and lacked the necessary level of detail. The workarounds needed to make the bed cover fit and work as intended leave little faith in the stability and longevity of the product. It is as likely to fly off the bed as stay secured. This would have been returned had I not already installed most of it, resulting in visible signs of use. I have a friend with a Colorado, and the bed design is much more suited to this cover than a Ranger. It required no modifications and is a perfect fit.

Not good

Ordered the cover for my 26 Honda Ridgeline. After installation of the rails, the cover does not properly lock into place. Brought the truck to a certified installer and they could not get it to properly lock/fit. Customer service has been slow to respond and keep requesting additional photos. 3 weeks later , they tell me the brackets were not installed properly. I get it if it was just me doing the install, however, the certified installer ripped everything down when I brought it to them. These are the folks they recommend to install their tonneau covers. Regardless, this could be an isolated incident but I still do not have the cover installed. Rather get a refund and move on to a different brand.

False advertising.

Has been on order for over two weeks and not shipped. Have called and chatted and get no information for the delay. My credit card was charged when ordered and will be due soon. I will have to challenge the charge and refuse to pay if not at least shipped. I feel like I have been ripped off by false advertising.

It is to long for

It is to long for the bed. If i put the seal on the front of the bed then the back seal is out over the tailgate. If i line the seal up to the tailgate then the seal is out in front of the bed. IN the corners there is a gag of about 1/2" by 1". The paint is bare in several places on the cover. I bought to be water tight and it is not. would not recommand this to another person. Thanks John

NOT THE ORIGINAL

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL! I had an original BAKflip and it was great. Got a new Tacoma and bought the E-Z flip and returned it because when folded the cover didn't reach the cab and hung out. So I returned it for the sure thing, the original that I had bought previously. IT IS NOT THE SAME COVER. The panels are different sizes, which changes the hing points, mounting is different and sucks, you have to shim it! This is an example of taking something which isn't broken and ruining it.

BakFlip

Install was way more difficult then expected. Still have leaks and having to use additional double sided tape. When folding up, gets off track and also doesn't lock without force...... Happy with the look, but going to take time to get it dialed in

Not bad but not great

The versatility is great with being able to use entire bed of truck . The fit is not the best , I noticed when washing the truck i do get leaking in all four corners . When shipped to me the arm that holds the cover up in the folded position wasn't attached completely from the factory however the customer service at Bakfip were very good and fast at shipping me not only a whole new set of rails but the updated version with better clips that store the prop rods . Over all for 900 plus dollars expected better but I'm sure I'll be happy with it

Great but...

I purchased this after installing one on a buddies truck a few years ago. I love how low profile this cover is! My only gripe was that mine came with no instructions. You may say "oh just look it up" well yes I did and proceeded to panic because none of the manuals had whatever version I got/ all the videos showed different rails. So to help those that may get the same thing I'm posting pics because I was very confused until I had a brain blast and got the cover installed. Took about an hour by myself and that's with all the panic and swearing lol

It’s okay

Going into purchasing the mx3 I knew it was going to be pretty good at keeping water out and it has. After installing and put in the rain the first night there were a few drip spots and I was fine with it. And the last latch doesn’t really clip on after putting the last panel down. You need to pull the tension wire for it to lock in. Would need to ask for more clamps to possibly not make that issue happen anymore. Other than that it’s a great cover.

Nice Cover But Needs Work

I gave this a 4 because the manufacturer skimps on hardware. Where there should be four screws like on “All Pane Latches” there are only two diagonally. There’s no height adjustment for the rails, and when fully opened against the back of cab, the bumpers should be mounted on the cab. Otherwise if driven in that configuration it will scuff and rub the paint on the truck’s cab. The two rear latches need to be modified to prevent being opened with a wire or slim-jim. I’m disappointed that I saw you advertise that no longer have to close tail gate first, but mine has to be done as the old production. Other than those minor shortcomings it’s a nice functional idea and product.
