Most clamp to the bed rails following BAK's EZ-Lift standard sheet, and every version finishes the same way: you pull a pin to engage the EZ-Lift springs. Some trucks have their own sheet: Tacoma versions bolt to the factory utility rails with adapter rails and need drilled drain holes, the 2024 and newer Ranger bolts through the factory clip holes, and the Ridgeline mounts on rails at the tie-down points. Each page shows the sheet for that truck.

The EZ-Lift adds a spring lift-assist (BAK puts the lift force at 10.5 lb against nearly 30 lb for heavier covers), an extra-large paddle handle that unlatches the cover as you lift, and self-unlatching middle panels with no cable pulls. It keeps the MX4's multi-layer aluminum panels, edge-to-edge seals, 400 lb rating and 5-year warranty, which for the EZ-Lift is issued by BAK.

It is built to: edge-to-edge seals and precision-fit clamps close the gap to the bed rails, and drain tubes carry off water that reaches the rails. The install sheet says the cover is not airtight, so plan on weather-resistant rather than sealed.

BAK rates the closed cover at 400 lb, evenly distributed. BAK's sheet also says not to drive with objects on top of the cover or tie cargo to it.

Yes. Fold it toward the cab, clip the buckles into the buckle ends at the bulkhead and pull the straps snug, and you can drive with the bed open.
