The BAKFlip MX4 TS is BAK's Gen 3 MX4 hard folding cover with T-slot channels built into both side rails, so racks, cargo holders, tents and crossbars (sold separately) can mount above the cover while the bed stays locked below. The aluminum panels have high-density polymer cores that BAK rates 22% stronger than the original MX4, BAK's Multi-Shield matte black finish resists scratches and UV, and the patented auto-latch locks it as it closes. BAK makes it in truck-specific versions, each cut for one bed length and, on some trucks, one bed option such as Toyota's deck rail system. Every version is rated at 400 lb spread evenly, clamps on with no drilling on most trucks and carries BAK's 5-year limited warranty.

BAK makes hard tonneau covers. BAK bills itself as "America's #1 truck bed cover."
The range splits into BAKFlip hard folding covers (MX4, MX4 EZ-Lift, MX4 TS, G2, F1 and Fibermax) and Revolver hard roll-ups (X2, X4s and X4 TS). The MX4 TS is the Gen 3 MX4 with T-slot side rails and BAK's Multi-Shield matte black finish.

BAK's warranty "is nontransferable and applies to the original purchaser of the BAK product only," and BAK requires warranty registration on file or proof of original purchase (a detailed, dated receipt) for warranty service. Start with your truck's year, make and model, then measure the bed along the rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. Match that to the version for your truck, then check the options BAK lists separate parts for, such as RamBox, the Ram multifunction tailgate and Toyota's deck rail system, and the body-style changeover years. Each page lists what it fits and what it does not, or send us your VIN.
Most clamp to the bed rails with no drilling, following BAK's MX4 TS standard sheet, and most sheets show how to slide accessories into the T-slots. Some trucks have their own sheet: the 8' beds use two-piece rails, Tacoma versions bolt to the factory utility rails with T-nuts and adapter rails, and the 2026 and newer Ranger bolts through the factory clip holes. Each page shows the sheet for that truck.
Both are Gen 3 BAKFlip MX4 covers with the same polymer-core aluminum panels, automatic latching, seals, 400 lb rating and BAK's 5-year warranty. The MX4 TS adds integrated T-slot side rails for racks and cargo accessories (sold separately) and BAK's Multi-Shield matte black finish.
BAK lists racks, cargo holders, tents and crossbars, all sold separately; it also publishes a T-Slot Tonneau Compatibility Guide, linked on some trucks' pages. BAK's 400 lb rating is for weight spread evenly on the closed cover. For a rack, BAK's sheet says to check the truck's and the rack's owner's manuals for load ratings, and to count the cover with its rack system (100 lb) in your cargo weight.
It is built to: edge-to-edge seals and tight-fit clamps close the gap to the bed rails, and drain tubes carry off water that reaches the rails. BAK's own install sheet says the cover is not airtight, so plan on weather-resistant rather than sealed. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is a warranty condition too.
Yes. Fold it toward the cab and attach the straps to the buckles at the bulkhead, pulled snug, and you can drive with the bed open. The cover must be secured at all points while the truck is moving; that is a condition of the warranty.

This new cover is great. Install was a breeze by myself. Took longer to remove the old much much heavier cover than install the new one. The weight difference is incredible and so much nicer. It also looks great . Very very happy with this cover. Definitely recommend it
It is a well-built cover. The TS rails built in add a lot of flexibility to the bed. I like how it folds up and can expose 95% of the bed and the cover does not block the brake light, bed light and rearview camera mirror on my GMC Sierra.
These products work very well. It would be really great if the BAKFlip MX4 TS (GEN 3)could be locked to my truck.
We really like it. It works out well for getting our kayaks an camping equipment around with us comfortably.

This cover is definitely not weather tight. In heavy rain the cover leaks. I am very disappointed. I travel a lot and have to pack my susceptible clothing and gear in waterproof bags. I wish I had purchased a full truck topper.
It’s a nice product and works as it should. The installation was difficult. Everything you see online shows a 1 piece rail, for an 8’ bed it’s a2 piece rail. There were no instructions and the video online was for a1 piece rail. Some of the weather stripping was damaged , so it’s not as water resistance as it claims. The first tonneau cover I got was damaged during shipping and the return process was simple and the customer service team was very pleasant to talk to. Overall it’s a nice product but if I bought another one for an 8’ bed I would not do the installation myself…
Hard top works as advertized and gives a safety additional bonus for cargo. The foam seal strip for the front did not hold but may be due to the heat and humidity in my region, replaced with store bought strip and that is holding well. I can not get it to line up perfect on the rear bed of the truck but it does shut fully with a tad bit of help, seems as though the bed narrows a bit more than the cover at the rear. When I used the props to hold the top up for a road trip it quickly wore the rubber foot off the prop rod so that will be an issue in the future but overall not a big problem
Looks great, the installation is easy but my cover came with a tiny plastic piece broken - the one which hold the strap to secure the folded cover when unused. No big functional issue but that should not happen.

I'm so happy with this bed cover purchase. It came with a broken in shipment rod clip which they promptly replaced. Its a quality top, saves bed space over competing canister models, and is an easy install. I love being able to see out my rear view mirror and see more than a view blocking camper shell. It hides and secures loads within the bed and when needed can open up to allow a larger taller load to fit within the bed. I haven't found a thing I can complain about so its a highly recommended "BUY"
Awesome piece of gear. Took about 40 minutes to install. It is holding up well in the rain and dust. I really like the slots. Thinking about adding some crossbars and a cargo carrier at some point.
Installation was surprisingly fast. Looks great on the truck and I also added an elevate rack. I’ve gotten a lot of positive comments in the rack and bed cover. My bed is is 6. 5 feet and the bed cover is still easy to move.
The MX4 looks and works great on my truck. I wish I had gotten it sooner.

It works great to keep people from seeing what’s in the bed of my truck, but it leaks quite a bit, especially at one of the folding points. I didn’t expect it to be water proof, but my stuff gets very wet when it rains. I’m disappointed.
I like how it looks on my truck. Now I don't have to worry about the strong Wyoming winds lifting the cover off the backend of my truck, as I did with the one piece tonneau cover I previously had on the truck.
Wish they would NOT have changed the rail system for our elevate racks!!
Love it. Pricey compared to my old tri fold, fit and finish is far superior Installed easily with plenty of online videos to guide you thy the process. The cover is watertight even though the automatic car wash. All in all I’m very ply with my purchase.

The installation was a breeze. I haven't been able to use them for kayaks yet, but I do have my ski rack installed for fishing poles during the summer. These racks are very sturdy and work well with my new Bakflip tonneau cover.
Definitely looks and feels more durable than previous versions and still has a sleek look. My concern is that the rail portion that goes over the top of the bed frame angle out as you start from the cab to the tailgate. Although I have not inquired about this to my installer yet. So I am not sure if it is a design factor or an install concern.
Quality cover. Easy to install. No issues at all with water intrusion on the Silverado 2500 HD however expecting some minor wetness during torrential downpours as a possibility.

It's been a few months since I installed the truck Bed cover. Overall I'm satisfied with the bed cover. It's been through some harsh rain storms and it keeps the bed 99% dry. Water did get through the very back of the bed (towards the tail gate). I didn't investigate to see how it came through but it was a few drops at best. Installation did take my a few tries to get the cover to sit properly. I had to loosen and realign (left to right) so that all the latches would catch properly but once I did I've had no problems since. Also I'm glad that I have the option to add a rack later on as it gives me the versatility to use the truck for multiple purposes.

The bed cover is awesome but you really need to add installation directions for the 8’ bed model. What should have been a one hour install turned into three plus.

For the price of what I paid, it’s not what I expected. Seems like they could have done a better job on some of the finish parts of the cover. What ever they used to spray the black color, is not sprayed in some parts and seems like it was rushed.

Good looking product , easy install
First off, this bed cover looks CLEAN. Easy to install, instructions are clear, only needed minimal tools. My girlfriend and I had it installed in about an hour. Had some shipping damage to one of the panels, but it’s the underside that’s never seen anyways so I just ignored it. Only other complaint is the cork gasket used underneath the buckle clips mounted on top… they leak water through. And some strange wind noise I am still trying to figure out. Maybe using something rubber might work better to seal buckle clips and some thin foam tape to seal all the whistle gaps near the cab. Otherwise, I am genuinely impressed with this cover. I have received numerous compliments about the look and been excited to show others how robust and well made it is. Like always, you get what you pay for and it has been worth every penny so far.
Like the security and ability to quickly open to haul stuff. Seems to keep the weather out well.
The topper is sturdy and well built and was easy to install. I love the low profile look, and the rails make it to where I can add crossbars in the future. It doesn't seem to leak much, but I don't really have it to be water proof anyway.

The cover fits nice on my vehicle but it could use some modifications. The corner pieces of the cover against the cab leak a good amount of water because its foam and plastic which does not do a good job at preventing water from coming in. Where each panel folds also leaks water into the bed of the truck. The drain tubes are in the front of the cover next to the cab which server no purpose because when your driving water is being pushed to the rear, not the front. The rear of the channels is open and just lets water into the bed where the tail gate is. Also if you're parked in your driveway facing forward it does not push water toward the front. In my opinion the drain tubes need to be switched somehow. If you're looking for a somewhat water tight cover I wouldn't recommend. Multiple leak points. I have not tried any attachments for the slots so I can't speak on that. Easy install just…
I now have a secure location to lock up gear.
This cover is easy to install, keeps water out of the bed, and looks great. In addition, adding the cross rail system (pictured) is very quick and easy.
The mx4 backflip was relatively easy to install, especially with the videos
Bakflip MX4 TS and Elevate FS rack
Cover itself seems to be decent. However, fitment is terrible. Cover does not extend onto the front and rear of the bed enough to prevent water intrusion. The rear seals over the tailgate are not tall enough to create any kind of seal. The plastic corners are flimsy and offer no seal of any kind. the latching system is easily bypassed, you can simply reach in with a coat hanger and hook the pull cord and open the cover. This cover for the price, is not worth it.
Thanks for the email asking for a review of product. I ordered the product 15 days ago and it is still not shipped. Maybe your software could verify the product, paid for by your customer, has been received rather irritate customers by reminding them you have fail to fulfill your obligation.
Great cover but tabs that hold straps underneath top came distorted ready to break. Also it's a little too short to make it from rear of cab to tail gate should be at least an 1" longer if not a little more. This length discrepancy is what is causing the leaks up by the cab corners of the cover. The prop rods are securing to close to the bottom of the cover allowing way to much leverage to work against the function of the rod. The foam blocks that hold the cover of the can when resting in up position are to thin and putting to much torque against the last hinge of the top. Other than that it's a great cover and it looks amazing on the truck stays still at any speed and comes out of car wash pretty dry after fussing over corners at cab and adding extra little foam seal tape at the corners.

Wish it were about a 1/2" longer. I initially installed tight against the cab (followed video instructions) but it barely covered/sealed at the tailgate - moved it back about a 1/4" to split the difference, but if the piece against the cab were about a 1/2" longer, it'd be a much better fit imho. Understand it's a "1-size fits all" application. Overall, happy with it.

Stay away from the Bakflip hard folding tonneau cover. In the lightest rain the cover leaks like a sieve, bed was just as wet as not having a cover on the bed at all. I emailed BakFlip directly asking if this is a known issue and if there is anything that can be done to stop water from running freely through the hinge areas. I have not received a reply, apparently their customer service is as bad as their cover. They should be embarrassed to brag about being a made in America company. They definitely do not stand by their products like a quality US company should.
Great cover! Wish the Tslot rails wouldn’t lift up when securing a load. Also need better instructions on how to removed the end caps on Tslot rails to place compatible anchors into slots. Have had the back edge cover come loose multiple times when loading something onto cover with tail gate down. The part that covers the lip has become bent some. Also have several small dents on the top of the cover has me winding how it will look after a few years of use vs these few months.
Good over all, minor leaks. Eady install. Seems durable for my application. Not haven't used kayak carriers yet.
The installation was fine, and it fits nice on the bed but the cover cant fold up against the window without either hitting the camera or pulling the bed cover really far forward such that it doesnt really seal properly with the tailgate. I dont really use it in that way so if i need to i just undo the two clamps at the front to get it to fold that way, but it seems like a miss on the design.

High quality materials, and pretty easy to install. My only issue is that it tends to vibrate quite a bit when the wind hits it while driving at moderate speeds. My package did not include the hardware, but after calling customer service they sent everything I was missing quickly. Looks great and retains a lot of bed space when fully folded.
The cover is nice and very good quality, but the T slot rails are too wide for installing the rack in the front. You have to cut part of the end cap off in order to install them because they hit the T slot Bolt that holds the top rail to the post on my 26 ram 2500 short bed.
I am impressed with the quality of the cover. Love the way it locks into the bed of the truck. There has been some rainwater that has made its way into the bed of the truck.
For my 2021 Ridgeline it took 2 1/2 hours to install. All due to trying to get the latching to line up and catch at the tailgate end. Watching YouTube videos helped, flipped the silver mounts, removed the end clips, then pryed the rails as far apart as possible and quickly tightening the bolts. It’s still a “slam shut” process but it does lock. Getting better over time. The cover itself works well and is pretty watertight. I like it!
The product looks good and installs easy enough, however it doesn’t come with an installation manual and the tutorials weren’t for my exact model. It also seems like they could use some smaller hardware for the Ford Maverick. It seems like I was cramming things in there crooked.
Overall this is a great cover, it's easy to install, and has an excellent seal to keep water out.
Had the following issues for my 2024 Tundra 6. 5 ft bed at the get go: One of the seals holding the panels together was coming apart from the panel allowing leakage into the bed of the truck. The weather strip supplied for the bulkhead caused the rubber weather strip on the cover to pop up at an awkward angle. The prop rods to hold the cover up when fully opened against the cab were permanently mounted too close to the cab. Concerns. I think the cover should be at least an inch longer for full coverage of the be although it can be made to work. The latches are nylon/ plastic. Probably not very secure against break in. On the upside it looks great and is easy to operate. Support is prompt and very good. Replacement parts to fix issues including new rails with correct prop rods and new seals on the way.
This works and looks great. My only nit is that there is not a single video online of installation on Gen 3 Tacoma of a Gen 3 install. So what should have taken 30 minutes took closer to 90 for a first time bed cover installer to figure out.
Love it. Lost a star for a dent upon delivery.
