Features
- Rack-ready T-slot rails: T-slot channels built into both side rails take racks, cargo holders, crossbars and rooftop tents, all sold separately. BAK says that lets you use the space above the cover as well as the bed below it.
- Multi-Shield coating: BAK's Multi-Shield matte black finish protects the corrosion-resistant aluminum. BAK says it gives 11x more surface durability against scratches and scuffs, resists dents and is fully UV-resistant.
- Locks the moment it closes: BAK's redesigned auto-latch locks the cover as it closes, with no separate step, and BAK says it resists forced entry better than the Gen 2. To open it, drop the tailgate and release the rear latches.
- Sealed edge to edge: Upgraded rubber seals, tight-fit clamps and a dual-action tailgate seal keep rain and debris out, and on most trucks water channels and drain tubes carry off any moisture that gets in. BAK's sheet notes the cover is not airtight.
- Multi-layer aluminum panels: The top panels have high-density polymer cores; BAK rates them 22% stronger than the original MX4. The cover sits nearly flush with the bed rails and carries up to 400 lb spread evenly.
- Folds to the cab, drive open: Fold it to the cab and drive with the whole bed open, or stand it upright against the cab on heavy-duty prop rods with rubber bumpers to prevent scuffs. BAK says it is the only hard fold that leaves the 3rd brake light visible in every position.

If you drive a 2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma with the 5' bed, with the factory deck rail system, this BAKFlip MX4 TS is cut for it. For reference, the box is about 60" long. T-slot channels run along both side rails, ready for racks, crossbars, cargo holders or a rooftop tent (all sold separately). BAK's redesigned auto-latch locks the cover the moment it closes. Any water that gets past the seals runs off through integrated channels and drain tubes on most trucks. For the install, adapter rails bolt to the factory utility rails with T-nuts and the cover rails clamp on top, with drain holes drilled in the wheel wells; BAK rates it at 30 minutes or less. The 6'2" bed takes BAKFlip MX4 TS 449447TS. BAK's 5-year limited warranty covers it from the original purchase date.

Will this fit my 2024-2026 Tacoma?
Yes, if it has the 5' bed, with the factory deck rail system. Measured along the floor, that box is about 60". Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate, and note it is not for the 6'2" bed (BAKFlip MX4 TS 449447TS). If you are unsure, send us your VIN and we will confirm.
How do I check my Tacoma bed length?
Measure along the top of the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. This version is for the 5' bed, which BAK's own brands list at 60". If your truck's box is a different length, it needs a different part; send us your VIN and we will check.
What is the difference between the MX4 TS and the MX4?
Both are Gen 3 BAKFlip MX4 covers with the same polymer-core aluminum panels, automatic latching, seals, 400 lb rating and BAK's 5-year warranty. The MX4 TS adds integrated T-slot side rails for racks and cargo accessories (sold separately) and BAK's Multi-Shield matte black finish.
What can I mount on the T-slot rails?
BAK lists racks, cargo holders, tents and crossbars, all sold separately; it also publishes a T-Slot Tonneau Compatibility Guide, linked on some trucks' pages. BAK's 400 lb rating is for weight spread evenly on the closed cover. For a rack, BAK's sheet says to check the truck's and the rack's owner's manuals for load ratings, and to count the cover with its rack system (100 lb) in your cargo weight.
Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?
It is built to: edge-to-edge seals and tight-fit clamps close the gap to the bed rails, and drain tubes carry off water that reaches the rails. BAK's own install sheet says the cover is not airtight, so plan on weather-resistant rather than sealed. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is a warranty condition too.
Can I drive with it folded open?
Yes. Fold it toward the cab and attach the straps to the buckles at the bulkhead, pulled snug, and you can drive with the bed open. The cover must be secured at all points while the truck is moving; that is a condition of the warranty.

Here's the short version. Follow BAK's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions and settings.
- Seal the bulkhead. Clean the top of the bulkhead with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, and let it dry. Stick the included bulkhead seal from one edge of the bulkhead to the other and trim the excess. With a drop-in bed liner, the seal isn't needed.
- Fit the adapter rails. Remove the utility-rail end caps, slide three T-nut kits into each utility rail and refit the caps. Bolt each adapter rail to the T-nuts with the kit's bolt, washer and lock washer, push it toward the cab and line the T-nuts up with its holes, then tighten while pressing the rail down.
- Clamp the side rails and route the drains. Set each side rail on its adapter rail, pushed to the cab, and clamp them together with the back of each clamp behind the adapter rail next to a tab (on the driver side the middle and cab clamps sit left of the tabs, on the passenger side right of them). Keep the rails level with the bed cap and tighten to 10 ft-lb with a 1/2" wrench or socket. Fit the drain tubes and run them through a 5/8" hole drilled in the top corner of each wheel well, checking underneath first.
- Prep the cover. Slide the two cover retainer clamps into the track under the cab end of the cover, one per side. Peel the liner off each gasket, stick it under a buckle end, and screw the two buckle ends into the pre-drilled holes on the front header panel with the screws and nutserts. Hand-tighten only; don't use a screw gun.
- Set the cover in place. Lay the folded cover on the side rails at the cab end, centered between them, and turn the retainer clamps clockwise until the lock washer is snug. With the cover still folded, clean the spots for the cab bumpers with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, let them dry and stick the bumpers along the top edge where the cover meets the cab.
- Unfold, adjust and check. Unfold the cover toward the tailgate and center every panel side to side and front to back; the rear edge and tailgate seal rest on top of the tailgate with a 1/2" overlap. With a power tailgate, make sure it still works with the cover closed. Release each latch to check it engages the rails (the sheet shows how to adjust a slam latch), then re-tighten the retainer clamps. BAK's warranty asks you to re-check every clamp after your first week of driving.

Not Weather Tight
This cover is definitely not weather tight. In heavy rain the cover leaks. I am very disappointed. I travel a lot and have to pack my susceptible clothing and gear in waterproof bags. I wish I had purchased a full truck topper.

It’s a nice product and works as it should. The installation was difficult. Everything you see online shows a 1 piece rail, for an 8’ bed it’s a2 piece rail. There were no instructions and the video online was for a1 piece rail. Some of the weather stripping was damaged , so it’s not as water resistance as it claims. The first tonneau cover I got was damaged during shipping and the return process was simple and the customer service team was very pleasant to talk to. Overall it’s a nice product but if I bought another one for an 8’ bed I would not do the installation myself…

Hard top works as advertized and gives a safety additional bonus for cargo. The foam seal strip for the front did not hold but may be due to the heat and humidity in my region, replaced with store bought strip and that is holding well. I can not get it to line up perfect on the rear bed of the truck but it does shut fully with a tad bit of help, seems as though the bed narrows a bit more than the cover at the rear. When I used the props to hold the top up for a road trip it quickly wore the rubber foot off the prop rod so that will be an issue in the future but overall not a big problem

I'm so happy with this bed cover purchase. It came with a broken in shipment rod clip which they promptly replaced. Its a quality top, saves bed space over competing canister models, and is an easy install. I love being able to see out my rear view mirror and see more than a view blocking camper shell. It hides and secures loads within the bed and when needed can open up to allow a larger taller load to fit within the bed. I haven't found a thing I can complain about so its a highly recommended "BUY"

Definitely looks and feels more durable than previous versions and still has a sleek look. My concern is that the rail portion that goes over the top of the bed frame angle out as you start from the cab to the tailgate. Although I have not inquired about this to my installer yet. So I am not sure if it is a design factor or an install concern.

Bakflip MX4 TS for 2023 Nissan Frontier
It's been a few months since I installed the truck Bed cover. Overall I'm satisfied with the bed cover. It's been through some harsh rain storms and it keeps the bed 99% dry. Water did get through the very back of the bed (towards the tail gate). I didn't investigate to see how it came through but it was a few drops at best. Installation did take my a few tries to get the cover to sit properly. I had to loosen and realign (left to right) so that all the latches would catch properly but once I did I've had no problems since. Also I'm glad that I have the option to add a rack later on as it gives me the versatility to use the truck for multiple purposes.

Great, clean looking, and sturdy.
First off, this bed cover looks CLEAN. Easy to install, instructions are clear, only needed minimal tools. My girlfriend and I had it installed in about an hour. Had some shipping damage to one of the panels, but it’s the underside that’s never seen anyways so I just ignored it. Only other complaint is the cork gasket used underneath the buckle clips mounted on top… they leak water through. And some strange wind noise I am still trying to figure out. Maybe using something rubber might work better to seal buckle clips and some thin foam tape to seal all the whistle gaps near the cab. Otherwise, I am genuinely impressed with this cover. I have received numerous compliments about the look and been excited to show others how robust and well made it is. Like always, you get what you pay for and it has been worth every penny so far.

BakFlip MX4 hard cover
The cover fits nice on my vehicle but it could use some modifications. The corner pieces of the cover against the cab leak a good amount of water because its foam and plastic which does not do a good job at preventing water from coming in. Where each panel folds also leaks water into the bed of the truck. The drain tubes are in the front of the cover next to the cab which server no purpose because when your driving water is being pushed to the rear, not the front. The rear of the channels is open and just lets water into the bed where the tail gate is. Also if you're parked in your driveway facing forward it does not push water toward the front. In my opinion the drain tubes need to be switched somehow. If you're looking for a somewhat water tight cover I wouldn't recommend. Multiple leak points. I have not tried any attachments for the slots so I can't speak on that. Easy install just…

Not worth the price!
Cover itself seems to be decent. However, fitment is terrible. Cover does not extend onto the front and rear of the bed enough to prevent water intrusion. The rear seals over the tailgate are not tall enough to create any kind of seal. The plastic corners are flimsy and offer no seal of any kind. the latching system is easily bypassed, you can simply reach in with a coat hanger and hook the pull cord and open the cover. This cover for the price, is not worth it.

2" to short
Great cover but tabs that hold straps underneath top came distorted ready to break. Also it's a little too short to make it from rear of cab to tail gate should be at least an 1" longer if not a little more. This length discrepancy is what is causing the leaks up by the cab corners of the cover. The prop rods are securing to close to the bottom of the cover allowing way to much leverage to work against the function of the rod. The foam blocks that hold the cover of the can when resting in up position are to thin and putting to much torque against the last hinge of the top. Other than that it's a great cover and it looks amazing on the truck stays still at any speed and comes out of car wash pretty dry after fussing over corners at cab and adding extra little foam seal tape at the corners.

Love the cover, just which it were a hair longer
Wish it were about a 1/2" longer. I initially installed tight against the cab (followed video instructions) but it barely covered/sealed at the tailgate - moved it back about a 1/4" to split the difference, but if the piece against the cab were about a 1/2" longer, it'd be a much better fit imho. Understand it's a "1-size fits all" application. Overall, happy with it.

leaks like a sieve
Stay away from the Bakflip hard folding tonneau cover. In the lightest rain the cover leaks like a sieve, bed was just as wet as not having a cover on the bed at all. I emailed BakFlip directly asking if this is a known issue and if there is anything that can be done to stop water from running freely through the hinge areas. I have not received a reply, apparently their customer service is as bad as their cover. They should be embarrassed to brag about being a made in America company. They definitely do not stand by their products like a quality US company should.

Tslot BakFlip MX4
Great cover! Wish the Tslot rails wouldn’t lift up when securing a load. Also need better instructions on how to removed the end caps on Tslot rails to place compatible anchors into slots. Have had the back edge cover come loose multiple times when loading something onto cover with tail gate down. The part that covers the lip has become bent some. Also have several small dents on the top of the cover has me winding how it will look after a few years of use vs these few months.

Good with One Flaw
The installation was fine, and it fits nice on the bed but the cover cant fold up against the window without either hitting the camera or pulling the bed cover really far forward such that it doesnt really seal properly with the tailgate. I dont really use it in that way so if i need to i just undo the two clamps at the front to get it to fold that way, but it seems like a miss on the design.

Great cover
High quality materials, and pretty easy to install. My only issue is that it tends to vibrate quite a bit when the wind hits it while driving at moderate speeds. My package did not include the hardware, but after calling customer service they sent everything I was missing quickly. Looks great and retains a lot of bed space when fully folded.

The cover is nice and very good quality, but the T slot rails are too wide for installing the rack in the front. You have to cut part of the end cap off in order to install them because they hit the T slot Bolt that holds the top rail to the post on my 26 ram 2500 short bed.

Good once it’s installed 😅
For my 2021 Ridgeline it took 2 1/2 hours to install. All due to trying to get the latching to line up and catch at the tailgate end. Watching YouTube videos helped, flipped the silver mounts, removed the end clips, then pryed the rails as far apart as possible and quickly tightening the bolts. It’s still a “slam shut” process but it does lock. Getting better over time. The cover itself works well and is pretty watertight. I like it!

The product looks good and installs easy enough, however it doesn’t come with an installation manual and the tutorials weren’t for my exact model. It also seems like they could use some smaller hardware for the Ford Maverick. It seems like I was cramming things in there crooked.

Not fully baked for my truck
Had the following issues for my 2024 Tundra 6. 5 ft bed at the get go: One of the seals holding the panels together was coming apart from the panel allowing leakage into the bed of the truck. The weather strip supplied for the bulkhead caused the rubber weather strip on the cover to pop up at an awkward angle. The prop rods to hold the cover up when fully opened against the cab were permanently mounted too close to the cab. Concerns. I think the cover should be at least an inch longer for full coverage of the be although it can be made to work. The latches are nylon/ plastic. Probably not very secure against break in. On the upside it looks great and is easy to operate. Support is prompt and very good. Replacement parts to fix issues including new rails with correct prop rods and new seals on the way.

Gen 3 looks and works great
This works and looks great. My only nit is that there is not a single video online of installation on Gen 3 Tacoma of a Gen 3 install. So what should have taken 30 minutes took closer to 90 for a first time bed cover installer to figure out.
