The Endure ALX drops onto the rails that come in the box and four clamps hold it there, all worked with basic hand tools. Nothing on the truck is cut or drilled. Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Do I need to take the cover off to haul something tall?
No. Fold the panels forward and the rear two thirds of the box opens up, with the folded stack parked over the front. For a load that fills the bed, stand the cover flat against the cab on its prop rods instead. Whenever you drive with it folded, fasten both buckle straps first.
Will it keep rain out of the bed?
Extang calls the seals weatherproof and says they stop moisture getting into the bed. Beyond that the company does not publish any water rating, so for tools or gear that cannot get damp at all, a closed container inside the bed is still worth using.
How does the latch work, and does it lock?
The cover latches itself shut when you lower it onto the rails, but Extang does not list a keyed lock on it, so the tailgate lock is what secures the bed. Opening is a one-hand job: twist the handle and lift the rear panel free.
My truck has a RamBox, CarbonPro bed or Deck Rail System. Is there a version for it?
Yes. The Endure ALX line includes separate part numbers for Ram trucks with RamBox and silver cargo rails, for the GMC Sierra 1500 with the CarbonPro bed and for trucks fitted with the factory Deck Rail System. Set that option when you pick your truck and the right part number comes up. Trucks without those features use the standard part.
Can I fit this at home, or is it a shop job?
Yes, it is designed as an at-home job with ordinary hand tools, which are not supplied. What comes in the box is the cover, its rails, the clamps, the hardware and an install guide. Install sheets are written per truck, so work from the one that ships for your own part number rather than a video of a different model.
How should I clean and look after the cover?
Soap and water does the job, or Extang's own Tonno Tonic cleaner. Keep silicone-based conditioners off it. Clear the top of snow and ice before folding a panel. Do not let anything in the bed press up against the underside. That is the whole maintenance routine.
