Features
- One-Hand Rotary Release: Drop the tailgate, twist the rotary knob on the driver side and lift: the rear panel opens with one hand. Extang says this release is unique among soft tri-fold covers.
- Latches Itself When Closed: Lower the cover onto the bed and the Auto Latching System catches both latches on its own, so there are no tailgate clamps to set every time you close it.
- Folds for 2/3 Bed Access: Fold the cover toward the cab and fasten both buckle straps for about two thirds of the bed. When a load needs every inch, the whole cover comes off in minutes.
- Hand-Tightened Clamps: T-handle clamps hold the cover to the bed rails at the cab. They tighten by hand with no drilling, and loosen the same way when you want the cover off.

The Extang Trifecta ALX Soft Folding Tonneau Cover (90639) fits the 2026-2027 Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor with the 5'1" bed. It is a soft tri-fold cover with pebble-grain DualShield vinyl and a one-hand rotary release that latches itself when closed. Heavy-duty aluminum MegaBows and dual-pivot hinges support the top, and it folds toward the cab for two thirds of the bed. It mounts with brackets in the bed-cap clip holes and at the tailgate slam bumpers, and Extang backs it with a limited lifetime warranty.

How is the Trifecta ALX different from the Trifecta 2.0?
Both are soft tri-fold covers on an aluminum frame. The Trifecta 2.0 is held shut at the tailgate by spring-loaded EZ-Lock clamps that you release by hand. The ALX replaces those with a rotary knob you turn with one hand to open it, and latches that catch on their own when you close it.
Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?
It is built to. Extang says the triple-fin seals are part of the frame rather than glued on, and the MegaBows keep the top from sagging under rain, hail and snow. Like any soft folding cover it is weather-resistant rather than watertight. Brush snow and ice off before you fold it; Extang's warranty requires that.
Can I drive with it folded open, or take it off?
Yes to both. Fold it toward the cab and fasten both buckle straps with the tethers attached, and you can drive with about two thirds of the bed open. For the whole bed, loosen the clamps by hand and lift the cover off. Never drive with it partly open.
How do I clean the vinyl?
Use Extang Tonno Tonic or mild soap and water. Skip vinyl conditioners that contain silicone or petroleum: they dry the vinyl out, and Extang's warranty excludes damage from them.
Installation
- T-20 and T-27 Torx wrenches and a 2.5mm hex key (included)
- T-30 and T-45 Torx drivers
- 10mm socket or wrench
- Isopropyl alcohol
Here's the short version. Follow Extang's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact bracket hardware and torque settings.
- Stick on the bulkhead seal. Wash the bulkhead top with soap and water, wipe it with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Peel the backing and press the seal on flush with the front edge, snug between the bed rails; trim it if needed.
- Fit the cab brackets. Pry the two corner plastic clips out of each bed cap (center first) and keep them in the glove box. Fit each cab bracket in those holes with its bolt and nut, nut behind the sheet metal, and torque to 8 ft-lb (11 Nm) with a T-30 bit.
- Fit the tailgate brackets. Remove the T-45 Torx screw from each tailgate slam bumper (keep it). Line the tail latch bracket up with that hole and the other hole in the bed side, refit the T-45 screw and add a T-30 screw, then torque the T-45 screw to 16 ft-lb (22 Nm) and the T-30 screw to 8 ft-lb (11 Nm), both sides.
- Place, clamp and tether. Set the folded cover over the cab end, unfold it, close the tailgate and adjust until the bulb seal fits the tailgate and the cover sits square (too far back and the tailgate won't close), then refold it without moving it. Hook each cab clamp under its metal cab bracket, not the plastic cap, and hand-tighten until it touches, then two more turns. Hook the tethers to the front tie-downs.
- Close, latch and adjust. With the tailgate open and the cab clamps tight, close the cover, line each latch up with its striker and push down while you tighten the lock nuts with a 10mm socket or wrench. Then adjust the latches and rotary knob as the sheet shows.
- Make the final adjustment. Loosen the striker nuts, push the cover (or pull the rear bow) down to the rail and tailgate, match both sides and torque the 10mm lock nuts to 8 ft-lb (11 Nm).

Extang covers the Trifecta ALX with a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, starting on the date of purchase.- What's covered: the rails, clamps, bows, aluminum parts, hardware and the vinyl top.
- A defective cover, tarp or part is repaired or replaced, at Extang's choice; Extang may substitute a newer model of similar form and function, or offer a warranty discount on a full replacement system.
- For the original purchaser only, not transferable. Register the cover with Extang, or keep a detailed, dated receipt; contact us for registration help.
- To keep it valid: clean with Extang Tonno Tonic or mild soap and water only (no conditioners with silicone or petroleum); drive only with the cover fully closed and held at all four clamps, or fully folded and buckled at the cab with both tethers attached; never drive with it partly open; keep cargo from touching the cover; clear snow, ice and debris before folding it; check the cab clamps after the first week and from time to time after that; take the cover off before the truck is towed from the rear.
- Claims: get a return authorization number from Extang first and write it on the outside of the package. Shipping to Extang is at your cost, Extang may ask for the part back postage prepaid, and shipping charges apply to any repair or replacement.
