Features

  • Cast-Iron Construction: The FR4200 is built on Fill-Rite's cast-iron H-Series pump body, turning a powdered iron rotor with sintered bronze vanes. It is meant for everyday fuel transfer from a mobile or skid tank, season after season.
  • Fits 2" Tank Bungs: The inlet flange threads onto a 2" tank bung and holds a 1" suction pipe, and the outlet is 1" for the hose. US models use NPT threads; the HE pump-only export model uses a 2" BSPT bung adapter and BSPP ports.
  • Lockable Nozzle Hook: Next to the on/off lever is an elongated locking bar. Switch off, park the nozzle in its boot, and a padlock through the bar and nozzle handle stops anyone from drawing fuel. The lever closes against a metal stop arm made for repeated use.
  • 20 GPM High Flow: Fill-Rite rates every FR4200 at up to 20 GPM (75 LPM) on 12V DC, a step up from its 15 GPM FR1200, and pitches it for topping off machines whose tanks hold roughly 20 to 80 gallons.
  • Rotary Vane, Self-Priming: The rotary vane pump primes itself and pulls up to 8' of suction lift, while a stainless steel mesh strainer in the inlet catches debris before it reaches the vanes. The junction box turns 180° so the power leads can come in from the handier side.
  • Many Fluids, One Pump: Fill-Rite approves the FR4200 for diesel, gasoline and gasoline blends up to E15, biodiesel blends up to B20, kerosene and mineral spirits. Fill-Rite keeps it away from water, drinkable fluids and aircraft fueling.

Description & Fitment

The FR4220HDSFQ is the most complete FR4200 diesel package from Fill-Rite, built around a 20 GPM, 12V DC cast-iron pump. It mounts on a 2" tank bung and has a lockable nozzle hook. The kit adds a 30 micron particulate filter with head, a 1" x 18' hose with static wire, a 1" multi-plane swivel and a green 1" Hi-Flow automatic diesel nozzle. The suction pipe, an 18' 12 AWG cable, the filter elbow and two pipe nipples, and the install parts are also in the box.

Fitment & Compatibility

Check your setup: a 2" NPT bung and a 12V supply with a 30 A fuse. Same kit without the filter: FR4220HDSQ. Filtered kit with an Ultra Hi-Flow nozzle and 25' 10 AWG cable: FR4210HBFQ.

Not for: water or any fluid meant for drinking, fueling aircraft, and DEF or any other fluid Fill-Rite does not list for the FR4200.

About Fill-Rite

FILL-RITE.

Fill-Rite is a Gorman-Rupp company that designs and builds transfer equipment for fuel, oil and chemicals: electric and hand-operated transfer pumps, plus the meters, nozzles, hose and filters that go with them. Its sites are in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Lenexa, Kansas.

Its transfer pumps are built around cast-iron rotary vane bodies, and Fill-Rite stands behind them with a tiered warranty that runs for the life of the pump castings, 5 years on the motor and 2 years on wear parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What filter is in the FR4220HDSFQ?

A 30 micron particulate filter on its filter head, plumbed in with the included elbow (1" female NPT) and two pipe nipples, 1" x 7-1/4" and 1" x 3".

Does the FR4220HDSFQ have a swivel?

Yes, a 1" multi-plane swivel at the nozzle end of the 18' hose.

What power does it need?

A 12V DC battery or hard-wired 12V supply with a 30 A fuse in the circuit, which Fill-Rite requires. Fill-Rite calls for a licensed electrician and warns against running the pump from thin vehicle wiring such as a lighter socket; use 12 AWG or heavier.

Can it run continuously?

No. Fill-Rite rates the motor for 30 minutes on, then 30 minutes off, and the thermal protector stops it if it gets too hot. Let it cool before the next long transfer.

Which tanks does it mount on?

Any tank with a 2" bung: NPT on the US models, BSPT on the HE pump-only version. The tank needs a vent, and the suction pipe should end 1-2" above the tank floor.

How is it different from the FR1200?

Both are 12V DC H-Series pumps. Fill-Rite rates the FR4200 at up to 20 GPM with a 1" outlet and a 30 A fuse; the FR1200 is the 15 GPM model with a 3/4" outlet.

Installation

Recommended installationLicensed electrician for the wiring
TypeMounts on a 2" tank bung through the supplied inlet flange, then wired to a fused 12V DC supply
Tools
  • 7/16" wrench or socket
  • Pipe wrench
  • T-25 Torx driver
  • Fuel-rated thread sealant
What's involvedMounts to the tank bung by its inlet flange, threads the suction pipe and bung on with fuel-rated sealant, and wires to a 12V DC supply with a 30 amp fuse by a licensed electrician.

Here's the short version. Follow Fill-Rite's manual (below) for the full procedure, wiring and safety steps.

  1. Optional: take the inlet flange off the pump by loosening its four 1/4" bolts with a 7/16" wrench; keep the bolts, screen and gasket.
  2. Thread the suction pipe into the inlet bung 1.5 to 2.5 turns past hand tight with a pipe wrench, using a sealant made for fuel.
  3. Thread the bung and pipe onto the tank 1.5 to 2.5 turns past hand tight, again with fuel-rated sealant.
  4. If you removed the flange, seat the screen and gasket, set the pump on the bung and tighten the four bolts to at least 40 in-lbs.
  5. Open the junction box (two T-25 screws), feed the red and black power leads through the 1/2" NPT opening with the black cable connector, and keep the gasket in place when you close it.
  6. Mount the nozzle boot to the switch plate with its 5/16" bolt at 40 in-lbs; it has two positions. Wire to the 12V supply with a 30 A fuse in the circuit.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • Warranty

Fill-Rite covers the FR4200 Series pump with its tiered Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in material and workmanship:
    • Lifetime: pump castings, such as the pump and motor housings, motor frame, inlet flange and bung adapter, junction box cover, switch plate and end bells. Paint and corrosion issues are excluded.
    • 5 years: the motor and its components, such as magnets, armature, brushes, thermal protector, lead wires and circuit boards.
    • 2 years: wear parts, such as seals, gaskets, O-rings, springs, vanes, rotor and rotor cover, bypass cap, nozzle boot, switch parts and paint adhesion. Paint wear from use, weather or chemicals is excluded.
    • 1 year: accessories packed with the pump, such as hoses, nozzles, suction pipes, cables and connectors, elbows and swivels.
    • On metered kits the meter follows Fill-Rite's meter terms instead (900 Series and TT Series): 2 years on all meter components.
    • Coverage runs from the date of sale, or the delivery date if that is later, and only the original purchaser is covered; it does not transfer to a later owner.
    • It applies to products bought from Fill-Rite or a seller Fill-Rite authorizes in the United States or Canada, and Fill-Rite needs proof of purchase with a claim. Without proof of purchase or delivery, Fill-Rite starts the clock at the date code on the product.
    • Small items such as fasteners, washers, labels, nameplates, rivets, emblems, packaging, thread tape, wire nuts and paperwork are not covered.
    • It does not cover misuse, neglect, accident, negligence, improper installation or maintenance, or repairs done by anyone other than Fill-Rite or its authorized representative.
    • Fill-Rite's remedy is a replacement, or a refund of the price paid when a replacement or repair is not practical. Its liability is capped at the purchase price and it excludes incidental and consequential damages where the law allows. Implied warranties are limited to the length of this warranty.
    • Please do not send the product back on your own: if Fill-Rite asks for a return, it issues a return number and pays the freight.
To start a claim, contact us with your order number and a short description of the problem and we will take it to Fill-Rite with you.
