Features

  • Height You Can Adjust: A threaded spring perch sets ride height within the range ICON lists for the vehicle, so you can level the stance or make room for bigger tires. ICON presets each coilover at its recommended height.
  • A Larger 2.5" Shock Body: The 2.5" body and its larger piston area than the stock parts improve damping and ride quality on pavement, washboard and rock alike.
  • Valved for the Vehicle: ICON sets the length and valving of each coilover for its application, giving a sporty feel on the road and the control to handle rough ground off it.
  • ICON Engineered Springs: Each assembly carries an ICON coil spring chosen for that vehicle's weight and lift range, matched to the valving of the shock it rides on.
  • Reservoirs and Adjusters: Remote reservoir versions keep the shock cooler on long off-road runs, and CDCV, CDXS or CDEV valves add compression adjustment where ICON offers them.
  • Built to Be Rebuilt: ICON coilovers are fully rebuildable and re-tunable, so the same assemblies can be serviced or revalved over a long working life.

Description & Fitment

The ICON VS 2.5 Series extended travel coilover kit is a front kit for the 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 and the 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD and Sierra 1500 Limited with a 1.5-3.5" lift. Ride height adjusts on a threaded perch, and the 2.5" body gives more fluid and piston area than the stock damper. Versions cover internal reservoir, remote reservoir or remote reservoir with CDCV and its 10 compression settings. The coilovers are valved for the vehicle and built to be rebuilt, and an alignment is needed after install.

About ICON Vehicle Dynamics

ICON.

ICON Vehicle Dynamics designs and builds performance suspension for trucks and SUVs at its shop in Riverside, California. Engineering is led by Dylan Evans, its head engineer and a SCORE champion driver, and ICON tests its parts on the street, on the trail and under race conditions.

ICON's engineers begin with the result they want from a vehicle, then study the forces acting on it in motion, which is where the name Vehicle Dynamics comes from. Fabrication stays in ICON's own shop, from laser cutting and metal forming to CNC machining, welding and final assembly. ICON calls its suspension systems and shock absorbers the top choice for popular trucks and SUVs.

Authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer, so every ICON part we sell is new and genuine. ICON's warranty is for the original retail buyer, on the vehicle the part was first installed on. Keep your Prestige Truck order receipt: we use it when we take a claim to ICON for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my 2019-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

It fits when your vehicle matches one of these rows: 2019-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500; 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD; 2019-2026 GMC Sierra 1500; 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited. If you are unsure about your trim or drivetrain, send us your VIN and we will check it against ICON's application list before you order.

Will I need an alignment afterward?

Yes. ICON's install sheet for 71606 calls for the vehicle to be aligned once the coilover kit is in. The sheet is linked in the Installation section below.

How much lift do these coilovers give?

It depends on the vehicle. Each part shows its adjustable range in the Lift option, and ICON rates those heights for a stock-equipped vehicle, so a heavy bumper or winch can lower where it settles.

Do I need an alignment afterward?

Yes, after front coilovers. A front ride height change moves the suspension geometry, and ICON calls for a professional alignment. Retorque all hardware after the first 100 miles as well.

Do I need new upper control arms?

On some vehicles, above a certain lift height or with extended-travel versions. ICON lists the requirement in the notes for each vehicle, so check them before you set the ride height near the top of the range.

How often do ICON shocks need service?

ICON's maintenance guide suggests a factory service about every 40,000 miles for street use, or about every 15,000 miles for a mix of street and dirt, and sooner if a shock leaks, rides worse or gets noisy. Wash off salt and mud, wax the bodies once a year and check the nitrogen charge yearly.

What's involvedThe factory front coilovers come out and ICON 2.5 extended-travel remote-reservoir coilovers go ina flange below the upper control arm is cut for ICON upper arm travel, a frame hole is drilled and tapped, then alignment and a 100-mile re-torque.

Here's the short version. Follow ICON's install sheet (below) for your vehicle's exact steps and torque values. These steps are for part 71656; the other parts on this page install from their own ICON sheet below.

  1. Using a properly rated jack, raise the front of the vehicle and support the frame rails with jack stands. Ensure the jack stands are secure and set properly before lowering the jack. NEVER WORK UNDER AN UNSUPPORTED VEHICLE.
  2. Remove the nuts from the studs using an 18mm.
  3. Disconnect the UCA from the steering knuckle using an 18mm. Take care to not overextend the CV joints. Support the steering knuckle using heavy duty zip ties, safety wire, tie downs, or bungee cords.
  4. Mount the bar pin to the LCA using the factory bolts and a 15mm. [Torque to factory spec]
  5. Use the supplied self-tapping 3/8" screw to tap the drilled hole.
  6. Have the vehicle professionally aligned.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • Warranty

ICON covers its shock absorbers, including the shock in every coilover, for 1 year against manufacturer's defects.
    • Coverage belongs to the original retail buyer who owns the vehicle the part was first installed on.
    • A shock that fails in its first year goes to ICON for inspection and service. If ICON finds the cause was neglect, poor installation or anything other than normal wear and tear, the owner pays for labor, parts and shipping.
    • ICON repairs or replaces a defective part, at its discretion. Removal, reinstallation, freight and incidental or consequential costs are not covered, and parts that wear in normal use are not treated as defective.
    • Not covered: finish (including finish marks from shipping), alterations or modifications, installation that departs from ICON's instructions, racing use, police, taxi, government or commercial vehicles, and sales outside the United States and Canada.
    • ICON shocks leave the factory charged with nitrogen. Letting that charge out can make a shock malfunction, and ICON does not cover a failure caused by low nitrogen pressure.
    • To claim, contact us first with your order number and a short description of the problem. We open the claim with ICON for you, and your Prestige Truck receipt is the proof of purchase ICON asks for.

Coilovers ship assembled and charged with nitrogen: check the springs, shock bodies, reservoir hoses and hardware as soon as the carton arrives, photograph any damage right away, and never let the nitrogen out. Check it as soon as it arrives.
    • Look for crushed ends, punctures or tears in the carton.
    • If something looks wrong, take photos of the box and the parts (and if a driver asks you to sign, note the damage on the receipt).
    • Open the box and check the parts against the parts list before you install.
