Features
- Control at the End of Travel: A bump stop manages the last part of compression. ICON's stops take over where the factory rubber stops store energy and release it with a jolt.
- Velocity-Sensitive Hydraulic Damping: ICON's hydraulic stops add more damping the faster they are hit, so big impacts are absorbed without limiting articulation on slow terrain.
- Mounts Built per Vehicle: Each kit is made for its platform and position, with brackets and hardware for that truck.
- Less Rear End Kick Off-Road: Controlled release of the stored energy keeps the rear from kicking up after a hard hit, which ICON says improves control in rough terrain.
- Speed and Position Sensitive: Resistance climbs steeply deep in the travel because the stops respond to both shaft speed and position.
- Works With Your Shocks: The stops run alongside the shocks and only come into play near the end of compression.
Description & Fitment
ICON designed this rear hydraulic bump stop kit around the 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma. ICON found room to improve on the factory rear stops in rough terrain, and this hydraulic system is the result: more bottom-out control, less kick. ICON's velocity and position sensitive design adds force quickly near full compression without hurting flex. The ICON sheet for this part includes drilling, cutting or trimming steps.

About ICON Vehicle Dynamics
ICON Vehicle Dynamics designs and builds performance suspension for trucks and SUVs at its shop in Riverside, California. Engineering is led by Dylan Evans, its head engineer and a SCORE champion driver, and ICON tests its parts on the street, on the trail and under race conditions.
ICON's engineers begin with the result they want from a vehicle, then study the forces acting on it in motion, which is where the name Vehicle Dynamics comes from. Fabrication stays in ICON's own shop, from laser cutting and metal forming to CNC machining, welding and final assembly. ICON calls its suspension systems and shock absorbers the top choice for popular trucks and SUVs.
Authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized ICON Vehicle Dynamics dealer, so every ICON part we sell is new and genuine. ICON's warranty is for the original retail buyer, on the vehicle the part was first installed on. Keep your Prestige Truck order receipt: we use it when we take a claim to ICON for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit my 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma?
It fits when your vehicle matches one of these rows: 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma. If you are unsure about your trim or drivetrain, send us your VIN and we will check it against ICON's application list before you order.
Does the install involve cutting or drilling?
Yes, ICON's install sheet for 56103 includes drilling, cutting or trimming. Read the sheet in the Installation section below before you start, or have a shop do the work.
Hydraulic or foam: which do I need?
Hydraulic stops and air bumps are for trucks driven hard off-road, where bottom-out control matters most. Foam stops are a simpler, softer replacement for the factory rubber. Each listing names its type.
Do hydraulic bump stops replace my shocks?
No. They work alongside the shocks and only come into play near the end of compression. ICON's kits are built to run with its shocks and springs on each platform.
Can they be serviced?
ICON says its hydraulic air bumps are rebuildable and can be tuned. Contact us for service through ICON.
What warranty applies?
ICON's published limited warranty applies to its bump stop kits, for the original buyer and the vehicle they were first installed on. Contact us first for a claim and we will open it with ICON.
Installation
- Jack
- Jack Stands
- Grinder W/ Cut-Off Wheel
- Air Chisel
- 1/4" Socket / Wrench
- 5/8" Socket / Wrench
- 7/16" Socket / Wrench
- Torque Wrench
Here's the short version. Follow ICON's install sheet (below) for your vehicle's exact steps and torque values.
- Using a properly rated jack, raise the rear of the vehicle and support the frame rails with jack stands. Ensure the jack stands are secure and set properly before lowering the jack. NEVER WORK UNDER AN UNSUPPORTED VEHICLE.
- Remove the bump stop striker plate from the frame. There are 4 rivets attaching the striker plate to the frame that must be removed. The recommended rivet removing method is as follows although some people have other methods.
- With the bracket removed position the new air bump bracket on the frame. It is designed to use the existing rivet holes. Bolt it to the frame using (4) 7/16 x 1.5" bolts, nuts and washers per side.
- Install the new striker plate on leaf spring. Support the axle with a jack. Remove the u-bolts and remove the stock rubber bump stop.
- Apply antiseize to the bump stop cylinder before sliding it into the bracket.
- Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle back to the ground. [Torque to factory spec]
