LOMAX hard folding tonneau cover, folded open at the cab on a GMC Sierra 1500

The whole bed, cover on

Fold the STANCE and it stands upright behind the cab at about 90 degrees, held by its RigidLink system and kept off the rear window by steel pivot links anchored to the roof. The full bed opens for tall loads without the cover coming off the truck. While it stands upright it blocks the third brake light, which is worth remembering before you drive with it raised.

Locks at ten points

Unfold the panels and the STANCE latches itself down at ten points with heavy-duty nylon parts, with no key to carry. To open, one pull of the release cord from either side of the bed frees both latches together.

LOMAX STANCE hard folding tonneau cover: rail clamp and hinge hardware

Sealed along both rails

An uninterrupted seal runs the length of each side rail and the hinges are sealed, so water is shed off the closed STANCE instead of into the box. LOMAX calls it water-shedding rather than waterproof. Closed, the cover stands less than 1/2" above the box.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Does the STANCE block the third brake light?

Yes, while it is standing upright. LOMAX notes that the vertical position blocks the third brake light, so keep that in mind before driving with the cover raised. Closed, the cover leaves the light clear.

Can I take the STANCE off the truck?

It is built to stay on and stand upright rather than lift off. LOMAX's comparison chart does not give the STANCE the easy on/off design of the Hard Tri-Fold, and the pivot links attach to anchors bonded to the cab roof. If you plan to remove your cover often, the Hard Tri-Fold is designed for that.

Is it waterproof?

LOMAX calls the design water-shedding, not waterproof. Sealed hinges and an uninterrupted seal along both side rails keep most rain and snow out, but keep anything that must stay dry in a closed container. Level rails and the included black sealant on factory holes and stake pockets help.

Do I have to drill my truck to install it?

Not on most trucks. TIGHT BITE clamps hold the side rails to the box and the two cab-roof anchors bond with adhesive, and on a few beds (deck rail and RamBox cargo rail systems, the Ridgeline, the 2024-on Tacoma) LOMAX's own instructions bolt the rails on with special brackets instead, still without drilling. The exception is the GMC CarbonPro box, whose instructions add a 1/4" hole drilled through the bed cap at each bolt location. The Installation tab for each part says what its truck needs.

How do I open it and lock it?

Pull the release cord from either side of the bed to free both latches, fold the panels up and stand the cover in its molded storage brackets, where retractable bungees hold it. Unfolding the panels relocks the cover at ten points without a key.

Which finishes are available?

Urethane Aluminum, Urethane Diamond Plate and Urethane Carbon Fiber, each with its own part number. All three share the 400 lb rating, upright storage and locking. The STANCE is not offered in FRP.
