Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
How do I open and close the Retrax EQ?
Three ways. Your truck's factory key fob operates it. The Retrax phone app for iOS and Android controls it over Bluetooth. An optional cab-mounted remote touchpad adds a button inside the cab. A short video covers pairing the app. If you ever need to move the cover without power, a manual disconnect lets you do that by hand.
Can I put a rack or cross bars on it?
Yes. The Trax Rail System is built into the aluminum side rails. Its channels take most T-slot racks, mounts, gear and accessories from major manufacturers including Yakima, Thule and Rhino Rack. A T-slot tonneau compatibility guide lists the rack systems that have been checked, so read that before you buy a rack.
Is the Retrax EQ waterproof?
Treat it as water resistant rather than sealed. The cover carries weather stripping, but the manufacturer does not publish a sealing specification and its warranty statement lists water intrusion as not covered. Clear snow and ice off the cover before opening it. The stripping can hold soapy residue after a car wash, which is why the rails want an occasional wipe inside.
Does installation require drilling?
No. Nothing on the truck gets cut, drilled or altered. The EQ clamps to the bed with hardware matched to your truck, and the printed instructions walk through setting the canister and side rails in place. There are separate sheets for RamBox beds, deck rail beds and standard beds.
How should I clean and look after the cover?
Mild car soap and water is all it needs. Nothing stronger, and no wax on it. Wipe the inside of the rails now and then. If you drive dusty roads, clear dirt from the rails and the canister with a wet towel. If the truck ever has to be towed from the rear, remove the cover and store it first.
My truck has a RamBox, a multifunction tailgate or a deck rail system. Which version do I need?
Choose the option that matches your bed when you select your truck. Ram trucks split into a version for beds with RamBox and silver cargo rails and one for beds without RamBox and without the multifunction tailgate. Trucks with a factory track system show a deck rail option instead. The selector lists the exact part number once you pick.
