Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
How do I open and close the PowertraxPRO XR?
Press the button on one of the two wireless key fobs that come with the cover. An integrated electric motor drives the slats along the rails on sealed ball bearing rollers. If you let go of the button partway, the electromagnetic brake holds the cover at that spot, so you can leave part of the bed covered while you load the rest.
What is the difference between the PowertraxPRO XR and the PowertraxPRO MX?
The XR starts with the construction and the electric key fob operation of the PowertraxPRO MX and adds aluminum side rails with the Trax Rail System, a T-slot channel that accepts racks, mounts and accessories. If you never plan to carry gear on top of the cover, the MX gives you the same cover without the T-slot channel.
Can I mount a rack or cargo carrier on the cover?
Yes, that is what the XR is for. The Trax Rail System in the side rails is a T-slot channel that takes most T-slot racks, mounts, gear and accessories from Yakima, Thule, Rhino Rack and other major makers. A T-Slot Tonneau Compatibility Guide is published for these covers, so check it for your specific rack before you order.
Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?
It is designed to shed water. A built-in drainage system collects water that gets past the cover and channels it out through drain tubes rather than into the bed. The manufacturer does not call it waterproof. Clear snow, ice and debris off the slats before you open it, since the warranty requires the cover to be free of foreign material before opening.
Do I have to drill into my truck to install it?
No. The canister and side rails clamp to the factory bed rails with the included mounting kit. The truck comes back stock if you ever take the cover off. Follow the included instructions, then recheck every clamp after about a week of driving and periodically after that, which the warranty requires. Install time is not published by the manufacturer.
My truck has a RamBox, CarbonPro bed or deck rail system. Which version do I need?
Choose the option that matches your bed when you select your truck. The PowertraxPRO XR comes in separate versions for trucks with or without a RamBox cargo system, with or without a CarbonPro bed and with or without a factory deck rail system. Pick the matching option and the fitment selector shows the exact part number for that bed.
