The RetraxONE MX is a retractable tonneau cover for the 2014-2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 with the 6'6" bed and standard rails. It is made for drivers who want a low, flush cover that opens with one hand and keeps the bed looking factory. Push the latch button and the handle springs up, and the cover locks in any position, so tall cargo can ride in the open section. The top is a single aluminum-reinforced polycarbonate panel with no slats or hinges, and CoreTrax bearings in a spiral-track canister keep it rolling smoothly.

Will this fit my 2014-2019 Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500?

Yes, if it has the 6'6" bed. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate. If you're unsure, send us your VIN and we'll check.

Standard rails or wide rails: which do I need?

Retrax makes this cover for these trucks in two rail versions; this listing is the standard-rail one and 60472 is the wide-rail one. The material we have from Retrax doesn't explain how to tell them apart, so check the part number on your order or old cover, or send us a photo of your bed rails with your VIN and we'll confirm.

What is the difference between the RetraxONE MX and the RetraxPRO MX?

The ONE MX is a one-piece aluminum-reinforced polycarbonate cover rated for 200 lb, with a spring-loaded handle and a 1-year limited warranty. The PRO MX has a double-wall aluminum slat top rated for 500 lb, sealed CoreTrax rollers, the TraxLatch handle and a limited lifetime warranty.

Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?

It is built to: the one-piece top has no seams, the cover seals at the rails and drain tubes carry water out of the bed. Retrax's own sheet says the cover is not airtight, so plan on weather-resistant rather than sealed. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is a warranty condition too.

How much weight can it hold?

Retrax rates the ONE MX for up to 200 lb, evenly distributed. Secure loose cargo with straps.

Does it need any maintenance?

Wash it with mild automotive soap and water only and don't wax it. Never spray lubricant or cleaner into the rails; the bearings are sealed and lubricating them voids the warranty. If the rails feel sticky, Retrax suggests rubbing paraffin (candle) wax along them.

Here's the short version. Follow Retrax's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact steps, part letters and torque settings.

  1. Assemble the cover. Remove the shipping screws, brackets and white shipping tubes from both sides, and keep one shipping bracket to use as a spacer later. Pull the cover 6-8" out of the canister and hold it there while you guide it into each side rail's channel and seat the rails in the canister. Fasten the rails to the canister with the four 10-32 x 7/16" screws, then slide the front cover under the rails and fasten it through the top of the rails with the two 10-24 x 3/4" screws and the 1/8" Allen wrench, all to 32 in-lb. Leave the protective film on until the end.
  2. Set it on the bed. Some drop-in bed liners need notching at the front corners to clear the canister. With two people, lift the cover onto the bed with the canister at the bulkhead and the front seal lying flat on the bulkhead; trim the seal if it runs past the bed rail caps. Slide the cover back and use the shipping bracket as a spacer to set both rails 1/8" from the tailgate.
  3. Clamp the rails. Fit the clamps between the adjustment screws and tighten them with a 9/16" or 1/2" wrench (depending on your clamps). Push down on the rail and tilt it up about two degrees while you tighten; Retrax says this positions the rail best to keep water out.
  4. Square the rails. Measure across the rails on top of the front cover and again above each clamp; all three must match within 1/16". If they don't, remove the clamps, turn both white adjustment screws with the 6mm Allen wrench (one full turn moves the rail 1/16") and re-clamp. With the cover closed and latched, the weatherstrip should show equally on both sides; if one side shows less, move that rail forward toward the cab.
  5. Fit the drain tubes. Peel off all the protective film, push a drain tube into each side of the canister and turn it clockwise until it clicks twice. The tubes usually exit through a hole drilled in the factory bed plug, or another suitable hole, routed as directly as possible; if you drill a new hole, check for lines behind it first.
  6. Check and re-check. Open and close the cover and the tailgate to make sure it rolls without rubbing or binding; on some trucks, raising or lowering the rear of the rails slightly improves the tailgate fit. Re-check that every clamp is tight now, after the first week of driving (a warranty condition) and now and then after that.

    Retrax backs the RetraxONE MX with a limited warranty for one (1) year against defects in materials or workmanship, from the original date of purchase.
    • A defective cover or hardware component is repaired or replaced, at Retrax's option; Retrax may substitute a newer model with a similar form and function.
    • It covers the original purchaser only and is not transferable. Keep your receipt, since proof of purchase may be required. Retrax asks for registration within 30 days of delivery; contact us for claims and registration help.

Looks Fantastic, Doesn't Slide Easily. 2017 Chev Silverado

This is an awesome looking unit and easy to install. I watched the You Tube instructional installation video which was very helpful. Went on easily. Drilled two holes in truck bed for drain hoses which was easy to do. After fully installed, I took measurements on front and rear of installed unit ... both were the same distance. Unfortunately, the unit does not slide easily. Perhaps it will slide easier over time, but I haven't noticed much improvement in the first couple weeks. I can open with one hand so not a real big deal for me but if my wife was opening, it might be a nuisance. Overall I am happy with the unit and would purchase again, but just wished it would slide easier.

It’s Good Not Great

This is my first retractable cover but I’ve had the roll up covers both soft and hard. I’ve also had hard folding covers too. As the title states, this cover is good not great. I wouldn’t buy this cover again for a few reasons. 1. The canister takes up more bed space than I thought it would. 2. The materials don’t seem to be very high quality. I’m sure it’s going to get dented in the Oklahoma weather. 3. The instructions need more detail. Note: make sure you unlock and open the latch before attempting to install the left rambox rail. The things I like; 1. The cover looks good on the truck. 2. It functions well when it’s squared on the truck. If I could do it all over again I would get the hard roll up bed cover.

Love the Tonneau Cover

I love the tonneau cover and its pretty easy to install. But when we opened the box a month after receiving it there was damage to it. The actual cover is fine and it open and closes just fine. There is just a dent on the bottom of the casing and you only see it when the cover is opened all the way. But the box was not inspected well when it was received and all works well so I did not have any real complaints. All in all its great!

Love the functionality and the look is amazing. Makes my truck turn heads. The key and lock system is underwhelming. The key broke off in the lock the very first turn. The lock will hold in place at any position, unless you have something pressing against it. My push mower handle bar shouldn’t have been heavy enough to slide my cover while locked but it did.

The product is well made and looks beautiful. Installation wasn’t as simple as shown on the video, too bad no instructions came with the package. Tracks were not labeled left or right and front and back, these labels will eliminate guessing and improve installation time. I’m unable to lock the top at any position like it was advertised and still trying without success. This is puzzling me, however the feature is not very important to me so I stopped trying.

1 month review. Great cover. Kind of thin metal

I’m really happy with the Retrax One MX. installation was a breeze. I actually installed it by myself with no help lifting it onto my truck. I put it together in the garage on the floor and then placed it on the truck bed. Total time for putting it together and installing it was 45 minutes. My one and only issue so far is the the thinness of the metal that is used for the canister. I’m afraid that my four wheeler will bend the canister if it comes in contact while hauling. The cover flexes and shakes a little while driving at highway speeds when it is rolled back and in position. However, it is quiet and I don’t notice the shaking unless I’m looking at it. The cover slides like a breeze and it secures well in any position. I would buy it again.

So far so good

Install went smoothly, but it was a little extra work with the GMC CarbonPro bed. You have to drill several holes. The cover definitely isn’t water tight, but that was expected. It looks great installed. Only complaint is that when closed it extends slightly farther back on the driver side than the passenger side because that is the side you pull closed from. Just a slight annoyance. It is easy to straighten out though busy giving the passenger side a little tug after it’s closed.

Restrained MX Tonneau Cover

This cover is nice. Easy to install. Installed it myself. It is a 2 man lift though. The only issue was getting different drain hoses for the 2021 Chevy Silverado. The hoses that with it was not long enough for the drain in the top of the bed or too big for the drain in the floor of the bed. Other than that I am completely satisfied.

This cover looks great and functions well. It was not difficult to install, and it provides sufficient protection for my fifth wheel hitch so it is not exposed to the elements. I'm able to run the truck through the car wash without removing the hitch, and there is very little water intrusion even under pressure. I debated between this and the RetraxPRO, but I decided I did not need the ability to support weight on top of the cover. The RetraxONE still provides a great appearance, even when compared side by side to the RetraxPRO.

NOT AS STURDY

I upgraded my truck and had to purchase a new Tonneau cover. I love the low profile look of this cover so I decided to purchase the same cover six years later. After purchasing and trying to install, I discovered that it had the same look but cheaper parts. My original cover: all parts were metal. The new cover had (heavy) plastic parts on each end of the housing making it very difficult to align during installation. It took double the time to install. Mechanically, it rolls smoothly but it was difficult to install.

I bought the OneMX for my (new to me) 2023 PowerPoint F150. I had the 2013 version of this same Retrax cover on my last truck, and while that cover was great this one is much better. - locking mechanism is more sturdy & reliable - drain tubes from the roll up box are better designed - cover appears to be more waterproof - cover is very sturdy & secure - works well with the automatic tailgate. Installation was pretty easy and aligning the rails was not difficult. The most difficult part was lifting the assembled cover into the truck, and that was simple.

Solid cover - easy installation!

The RetraxONE MX is a solid upgrade to a fine truck. Installation is clear and easy, and works with my truck's existing rail system easily. It's a little spendy vs a simpler cover, but it allows my 5ft tall wife to open and close the cover easily, where folding covers would not. It looks good, is pretty darn water tight even in high winds and rain, and doesn't rattle or otherwise make itself known during driving. Would buy again.

19 Tundra Retraxone mx

Looks great, fits great and works great!! Sure would of been nice if the instructions mentioned removing the factory bed rails first. Looked like it would of been ok but the clamps wouldn’t properly fit with the rails. Had to remove the cover and redo it because of that. Really amazed at how smooth it is and the locking in any position it what made the decision for me.

Love it!

It is just what I wanted and needed. Only thing I would change is the tubing for the drain hole. It is much larger than my truck holes for the bed. Basically, put a reducer connection to secure it.

Leaks around the tail gate.

Leaks around the tail gate. Mounting clamps had to be replaced. Bolt holding lock fail out, could have lost the lock going down the road. Top vibrates with the wind while driving making very noisee.

Awesome cover !!

I received my cover for my Tacoma 6' bed earlier than was estimated, which was a bonus. The instructions were pretty straight forward and I was able to install it by myself in about 1.5 hours. Looks fantastic and is pretty much water tight except for right around the outside edges where the tailgate meets the cover. There is a very slight gap there to allow the tailgate to open/close without hitting the cover. Even through a torrential downpour with wind blowing sideways, there was just a very tiny amount of water that got in at the very edge of the tailgate, and to be honest, I think that came in when I opened the tailgate to check it after the storm.

Best cover I’ve ever owned. wish I bought it sooner

It’s a fantastic design and ease of use for myself and easy for my wife to open and close in any position unlike the Bakflip we previously owned. Installation was very simple and adjustments were easy.

Almost love it

I have just two complaints about my cover. One, when it is closed I can see in my mirror it bouncing up and down. At first I did not think much about it but it leads to the second issue. Second, the lock is only on one side so the other side shifts (due to the bouncing). I have to always reclose the cover to make sure that it is sealed to prevent water. They should have design a lock that locks both sides to prevent one side from shifting.

My Take

The product is superb and looks excellent. The install video on YouTube needs to be updated to the latest products used for the installation. I did not use the shims supplied because the gap was to large. The aluminum clamps that were sent were all the same size, The video shows 2 different types and is misleading. But I made due and the install is good.

Scratches top of cover when you open and close it.

This tonneau cover is a breeze to install, looks great and provides the needed security. The only issue I've had straight out of the box is that the tonneau cover rubs when you open and close the cover. I have a wear mark about 1 foot in from the outer track, the whole length of the cover. I have removed the whole tonneau assembly and inspected it for damage and nothing is out of the ordinary.

2020 Ford Ranger Cover

I love the look, but cannot give you a 5* because they are NO instructions enclosed. I am a 71-year old "not so Handyman" and I NEED instructions. Haing said that, customer service was fantastic and all in all we love the new cover!
