Retrax Quick Overview
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Can I lock the RetraxONE XR partway open?
Yes. The cover is key-lockable at any point along the rails, not just fully closed, so you can slide it back far enough to clear a load and lock it there. Whatever sticks out can be cinched down between the cover and the tailgate. The manufacturer requires that cargo be secured at all points before the truck moves.
What can I mount on the T-slot rails?
The T-slot channels built into the side rails accept compatible racks, crossbars, cargo carriers and tents from a range of accessory brands, so gear rides above the bed while the cover stays closed and locked beneath it. Racks and accessories are sold separately. The manufacturer publishes a T-slot compatibility guide that lists the systems known to fit.
How well does it keep out rain and snow?
The panel is one piece with no hinges, joints or slats, so it has no weak spots along its length. The water management system seals the cover tight and sends what collects into integrated drain tubes that route it out of the bed. Before opening the cover, clear off any snow or ice, since the warranty requires it.
Do I need to drill into my truck to install it?
No. The RetraxONE XR clamps to the factory bed rails with the clamp system and hardware supplied in the box. Nothing is drilled, cut or trimmed. The manufacturer rates the job Level 1 with a time of 60 minutes or less. The RetraxONE/PRO standard installation guide is linked on this page, along with the full install video on a 2024 GMC Sierra.
How do I clean and care for the cover?
Wash it with mild automotive soap and water only. The warranty rules out strong chemicals and cleaners along with any lubricant on the rails or the sealed ball bearings, which are designed to run dry. Recheck the clamps for tightness after the first week of driving and periodically after that. If the truck ever has to be towed from the rear, remove the cover first.
My truck has a RamBox, CarbonPro bed or deck rail system. Does that change which cover I need?
Yes. The RetraxONE XR comes in separate versions for trucks with a RamBox and silver cargo rails, for trucks with a CarbonPro bed and for trucks with a factory deck rail system, alongside standard versions for beds without those features. The standard Ram version is listed for trucks without the multifunction tailgate. Pick the option that matches your truck when you select your fitment.
