- Built-in T-slot rails: T-slot rails run the full length of the cover and take racks, cargo holders, tents and crossbars (sold separately), so you can carry gear on top and still open the bed underneath. Retrax publishes a T-slot compatibility chart for fitting kits.
- Double-wall aluminum slats: The top is made of double-wall aluminum slats, rated for up to 500 lb spread evenly, and the matte black powder coat is built to resist scratches and UV.
- Smooth CoreTrax rollers: Sealed CoreTrax rollers run in the rails and the TraxLatch handle gives you a solid grip, so the cover glides open and shut. The bearings are sealed for life: Retrax says never to spray lubricant into the rails.
- Holds open anywhere: The TraxLatch handle latches the cover at any point along the rails, so you can leave part of the bed open for tall cargo. You can even latch it down against a load to help hold it between the cover and the tailgate, though Retrax still says to strap cargo down.
- Seals tight, drains water: The cover seals against the bed rails, and a water management system carries runoff to drain tubes at the canister that you route out of the bed. Retrax's own sheet says the cover is not airtight, so think weather-resistant, not waterproof.
- Key-lockable TraxLatch: Wherever you latch the cover, open or closed, you can lock the TraxLatch handle with its key. Retrax says the key lock and the double-wall slats help deter thieves.

Will this fit my 2019-2027 Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500?
Yes, if it has the 5'8" bed, without GMC's CarbonPro bed. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate. If you're unsure, send us your VIN and we'll check.
Does it fit a truck with GMC's CarbonPro bed?
No. This part is for beds without GMC's CarbonPro bed. For a bed with GMC's CarbonPro bed, the matching PRO XR is T-80488.
What is the difference between the RetraxPRO XR and the RetraxPRO MX?
They share the double-wall aluminum slat top, CoreTrax rollers, key-lockable TraxLatch handle, 500 lb rating and limited lifetime warranty. The XR adds T-slot rails along the full length of the cover for racks and accessories, held by adjustable-back clamps built for the extra load.
What can I mount on the T-slot rails?
The rails take racks, cargo holders, tents and crossbars (sold separately), and Retrax publishes a T-slot compatibility chart listing fitting kits. For the rack's own load ratings, Retrax points you to the rack system's manual, and you must stay within your truck's capacity from the owner's manual.
Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?
It is built to: the cover seals against the bed rails and drain tubes carry water from the canister out of the truck. Retrax's own sheet says the cover is not airtight, so plan on weather-resistant rather than sealed. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is a warranty condition too.
Does it need any maintenance?
Wash it with mild automotive soap and water only and don't wax it. Never spray lubricant or cleaner into the rails; the bearings are sealed and lubricating them voids the warranty. If the rails feel sticky, Retrax suggests rubbing paraffin (candle) wax along them.

Here's the short version. Follow Retrax's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact steps, part letters and torque settings.
- Assemble the cover. Fasten the rails to the canister with the four 10-32 x 7/16" screws, then slide the front cover under the rails and fasten it through the top of the rails with the two 10-24 x 3/4" screws and the 1/8" Allen wrench, all to 32 in-lb. Leave the protective film on until the end.
- Set it on the bed. Some drop-in bed liners need notching at the front corners to clear the canister. With two people, lift the cover onto the bed with the canister at the bulkhead and the front seal lying flat on the bulkhead; trim the seal if it runs past the bed rail caps. Slide the cover back and use the shipping bracket as a spacer to set both rails 1/8" from the tailgate.
- Clamp the rails. The T-slot rails use adjustable-back clamps built for the extra load: tuck each clamp's top jaw firmly into the top inside corner of the bed rail sheet metal, loosening the screws to reset the jaw if it does not seat, with both sets of teeth fully engaged. Fit the clamps between the adjustment screws front and back and tighten them with a 9/16" wrench while you push the rail down and tilt it up about two degrees, which Retrax says keeps water out best. At each clamp, slip a rubber shim between the truck's plastic bed cap and its metal bed rail, behind the adjustment screws.
- Square the rails. Measure across the rails on top of the front cover and again above each clamp; all three must match within 1/16". If they don't, remove the clamps, turn both white adjustment screws with the 6mm Allen wrench (one full turn moves the rail 1/16") and re-clamp. With the cover closed and latched, the weatherstrip should show equally on both sides; if one side shows less, move that rail forward toward the cab. Once the rails are square, loosen each clamp's jam nut, run the stand-off bolt in until its bumper firmly contacts the bed wall and re-tighten the jam nut; Retrax says not to over-torque the bolt.
- Fit the drain tubes. Peel off all the protective film, push a drain tube into each side of the canister and turn it clockwise until it clicks twice. The tubes usually exit through a hole drilled in the factory bed plug, or another suitable hole, routed as directly as possible; if you drill a new hole, check for lines behind it first.
- Check and re-check. Open and close the cover and the tailgate to make sure it rolls without rubbing or binding; on some trucks, raising or lowering the rear of the rails slightly improves the tailgate fit. Re-check that every clamp is tight now, after the first week of driving (a warranty condition) and now and then after that.

Retrax backs the RetraxPRO XR with a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials or workmanship, from the original date of purchase.- A defective cover or hardware component is repaired or replaced, at Retrax's option; Retrax may substitute a newer model with a similar form and function.
- It covers the original purchaser only and is not transferable. Keep your receipt, since proof of purchase may be required. Retrax asks for registration within 30 days of delivery; contact us for claims and registration help.

Missing Parts
Ok, super excited about this product. I have a mountain bike and want to make sure it fit in my bed with this retractable cover and it did by an inch, although I had to gamble because the size of the canister isnt listed anywhere. The instructions for this product are really detailed, its a good size book that they send you but inside are instruction for 5 different types of anchor brackets. Seems like they cut corners and should just send you instructions for the product you bought by whatever. The first line is to confirm all parts received, but unfortunately, the "Adjustment Screws" arent listed under the list of parts, So I got about an hour into the install and realized I was missing parts I didnt know I needed. Had to take the whole thing apart and message customer service to get them. They were pretty responsive, but still, what a pain and they need to update their instructions…

Received Damaged
It’s hard to give a 5 star review on something you were not able to install due to it being damaged when unpacked. Shoulda bought this three years ago with truck!
I was resistant to buy a cover but after realizing that I don't haul motorcycles much at all anymore I wanted the secure space in the bed of the truck. My research pointed to the RetraxPRO and I have two buddies that don't know each other who also chose Retrax so I bought it. Installation in my driveway was a breeze. assembled on the ground and then had my wife assist with placing it on the bed. Seriously just a 1 out of 10 on difficulty. I figured it would get a lot of water but after our first rain storm there wasn't a drop in the bed. I'm sure it'll weep after some years though. Overall very satisfied and feel like I got a quality product at a fair price.

Came with existing damage
I would love to give the retractable a 5 star review. That is not going to happen. While there was some mild damage to the box from shipping, none of the damage to either the retrax bed cover or the T rail racks were from the shipping process. The canister the cover reacts into was scratched and dented on arrival. The T rail racks had decent sized chucks broken off where they attach to the top cross member, and those pieces of plastic weren't in the box. The retrax cover, the right side latch hole was not even there. This caused it to be extremely difficult, or impossible to lock. For the money, the quality control is sub-par. They customer support team offered a swap, thich I declined as I bought the system specifically for a road trip with my family, to secure our stuff. And the turn around by the time they finally answered was out of my timeline. Instead, I took a 10% refund on both…

Retrax Pro on 2020 Trail Boss 6.5 Bed
Overall, the XR is great. Installation took about 2 hours, I'm sure others could do it faster. I took a reviewer tip for install without a second person, put the canister on two 5 gal buckets near the front, packing carpet on the truck rails and installed the side rails. Then Dropped the buckets and removed the packing carpets. Make sure you trim the front gasket to side rails just prior to tightening to the bed. I did not and has a small gap. Only issue with the 2020 Silverado bed is the drain tubes provided are too large in diameter to go through the factory drain holes in the bed. I will need to step it down. Would be nice if they provided a reducing tube or small pointed fitting to go into the bed drain holes.

LOVE my RetraxPRO XR!!!
I’ve had the RetraxPRO XR for a few weeks now and I couldn’t be happier! Installation was straightforward. The functionality and durability are TOTALLY worth the $$. You can lock it in any position in between fully open and fully closed and you’re not limited to predetermined “lock spots” at 1/3, 2/3 etc. . I didn’t realize I would like that feature as much as I do. The design also allows for use of full bed length underneath the coil up to 5-7 inches (didn’t measure exactly). Operation of the unit is a breeze and can be opened or closed with 2 fingers and is smooth and easy. The incorporated T-slots are invaluable as well, allowing me to install a rack system (Elevate) with ease. I’m Very happy with this cover!

Followed instructions closely - no cigar
Product came very quickly. Looks slick. Somewhat decent material quality (expected higher at this price). They benefit on the fact that no one is going to return something so large and cumbersome after struggling to get it on. I plan on keeping the product but I have regrets. The cover does not “lock” in any position as advertised, and attempting to do so requires punching the handle down. It is not waterproof or even resistant as advertised. Don’t keep anything you care about under this cover.

3k miles, tons of rain, dry as a bone
Installed this the day before a 3k mile trip. It rained a lot and the bed stayed incredibly dry the whole trip. Have a nice big open area to put it together and a friend or 2 to help set it in place. Pay attention to the directions for tightening the clamps that hold it to the bed frame and also the measurements and adjusting needed to have it be square and true. It's not hard to install yourself, just take your time.

Great cover / cheap drains
This is a solid tonneau cover that would be perfect except for a couple of very easy-to-fix and well-documented issues that I'm honestly surprised the company hasn't addressed yet. Solid construction, relatively easy installation, smooth operation. The main issue is the drainage under the cannister. The company absolutely cheaped out with low-quality press-in drainage hoses that are accordion style tubes that crush and flatten under any force, not to mention retaining water that can freeze overnight. I was able to replace the hoses with some modified rubber fuel lines that work a lot better with a bit of work, but the cheap plastic press-in fittings are still needed to connect to the cannister. I feel like it's only a matter of time until they break or fall out. Because they are so cheap amd flimsy, it also makes it difficult to use the space under the cannister because anything that…

Great Choice for a new cover
I love the look it could be an inch or 2 longer but does everything that it should do and does it well. The only water that I see coming in even going through a car wash is only coming in through the sides of the tailgate not around the cover itself. As others have mentioned I would recommend drilling out the drain holes to fit the drain tubes prior to installation. A second set of hands to get in in place and lined up is very helpful as well

The first one that I received was damaged. I tried two more times and those were damaged also. The tonneau cover is too heavy and bulky to be shipped in a cardboard box. Also the ends should not be made out of plastic. The plastic cracks too easily.

Great cover
Second one I have owned. Great cover. Easy install with only two minutes of help from my wife to lift into the bed. Only trade of is, loss of some room for the canister. The trade off is I can see my goose ball with the bed camera.

My 2nd Retrax cover. The 1st was the poly. It was really good, but the aluminum is a more “solid” product - In my opinion, definitely worth the extra cost. The only thing “flimsy” about it is the key/latch cover (reason for the 4/5 rating).

Vehicle: 2025 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid TRD Off-Road (5’ Bed) I researched this product extensively before purchasing. Despite the premium price, I ultimately chose it because of the integrated T-slot rail system, which offered future flexibility for bed racks and other accessories. Looks great, leaks bad
Appearance and operation is fantastic. Product looks great and opens/closes smoothly. Relatively easy to install (with two people). Gravely disappointed at the amount of leakage, however. After correctly installing, the cover sat statically through a gentle rain and started leaking from the canister seams. I called and they immediately sent a replacement canister under warranty (as if this is common?), saying that the internal seals must have been incorrect at manufacture. Rather than uninstall, disassemble, re-assemble, and re-install a less-than-week-old unit, I tried siliconing the seams from the outside of the canister, which worked as proven by another static rain. Took it for a 20-minute drive in a moderate rain today, however, and both sides of the bed were wet for the length of the bed (leaking rails?). Good system, but not in snow country
The Achilles heal of this product is the drainage system. The drain ports and tubes are too small and clog constantly in the warmer temperatures, especially if there are trees around where it is parked. But the big problem is in the winter when the drains freeze and leave water in the cylinder box. The cover retracts about 12" and hits the ice in the bottom of the box.

RETRAX PRO XR Tonneau Cover Review for RAM 1500
The quality of the cover material is undeniably premium. However, I encountered issues with leakage from the cover box, likely due to poor welds, even after properly installing the drain tubes. Additionally, there's a concerning gap at the tailgate that also leads to leakage. I know it's not supposed to be waterproof but I would be hesitant to purchase this cover again and would probably look around at other rolling cover options.

Delayed Product & Arrived Dented
Product is high quality, simple to install. Best to have two people for the lifting part of the install; but I used blankets to protect the truck rails and a sling to lift for a solo install. The gaskets, drain channels, and drain tubes keep 95% of the water out, as tested via a car wash. I had to use a step drill bit to enlarge the OEM drain holes to receive the drain tube. The latch/button is a nice sturdy handle for opening/closing the cover. I also like the anywhere open latch/lock into place feature. The button can be a bit snug. I still need to trouble shoot if it is the latches set screw or something else. Complaint 1st shipment was delayed due to backordered parts. I placed the order via the phone, the staff told me 3 days to ship, and they were not aware of the backorder. It took several weeks for the backorder to arrive. 1st shipment arrived damaged. 3rd times a charm?
First cover arrived and did not look in bad shape but once opened I found it to be broken. I called, went through the process, and a few days later another cover arrived. I knew just by looking at it that it was broken, and of course it was. In my opinion it looked like they shipped out a returned cover, the box had been previously opened and pieced back together, packing was missing. I am now waiting on a 3rd cover to be shipped

A little upset with the
A little upset with the product. I’ve had the Retrax in the past and I believe it’s way better quality for less money. When I opened the box and started to put it together, bed rails and the canister cover were bent. I had to true them myself just to make it work. My package was missing multiple screws and missing the plastic retainers for the tangs. The so called caulking that was provided was melted together so I was unable to use. Maybe I just got a bad package but they should consider securing and padding the product better.

When I have my light in the bed at night with toneau closed u can see through slats. Doesn't seem like slats are made out of aluminum. Reminds me of thicker window blinds. Has anyone had this issue.

Wouldn't buy this again
Overall, I find the quality of this product to be very good. However, there are 2 very significant drawbacks associated with this product. First, the canister for this device renders 16 inches of bed space closest to the truck cab to be virtually useless. While there is a bit of space under the canister, it's not much. This device also rendered 6 of my 8 tie down strap anchors useless. 4 of them had to be removed entirely, and the 2 closest to the cab could be easily accesses because they are virtually blocked by the tonneau cover canister. I wouldn't buy this product again.

Not bad, could fit better
The gap between the rails and the metal on the truck bed is about a 1/2 inch, not the 1/8 inch rubber shims they send. I’m thinking the used the same cover for the 2021 trucks as they did for the 2020 trucks. Had I known this in advance I would have ordered it on the phone rather then on line

Great Cover
The Retrax Pro XR is a well built cover. The only reason why I have it a 4 star rating is due to the design and shipping. There is really not much the company can do, but the drum that stores the cover is large and takes up a fairly large amount of room; more than I thought. In addition, the cover was shipped without clamps. Retrax did send the parts right out while Tonneau Covers would have taken more than a week. In the end, works as advertised.

Nice cover
Very nice cover. The only water I have had get in around the cover was from a high pressure car wash. I do get water in from the drain system, the drain line connectors fall out of the bottom of the roll enclosure. I deducted a star for the low budget design of the drain system on a top notch product.

Nice cover
While this cover is expensive, it is a nice looking cover. The only issue I have with it, is that the end caps for the tube that holds the cover when the bed is open has plastic end caps. Everything else on it is metal. But not the end caps. During shipping the plastic broke where a support screw was. Also the entire drum is supported off of the end caps onto the bed rail. I just got it, so I don't know if it will last. The cover will be extended most all the time to get weight out of the drum.

The cover is nice so far, I like the way it rolls open a closes . The only thing I would like to see on it and will find a way to add it is a center strap that can be used to pull it close.
