Features
- Dual-layer aluminum deck: The A-Series deck is two layers of aluminum slats joined by Roll-N-Lock's patented hinge system, with no vinyl skin on top. A matte black powder coat protects the aluminum against corrosion, UV and abrasion, and Roll-N-Lock says the hinge leaves a nearly seamless top that keeps out rain, snow and would-be thieves.
- Rolls into a compact canister: Release the latch and a torsion-spring drive rolls the deck toward the cab into a canister Roll-N-Lock lists at 7.25" deep. Nothing comes off the truck and nothing stacks against the cab, so the rest of the bed stays open for cargo.
- Keyed twist-latch lock: The latch at the rear of the cover opens with one twist of the included key, and a cover over the key slot keeps rain and snow from getting in and freezing the lock. With the cover closed and locked, Roll-N-Lock's patented built-in tailgate locking system keeps a locking tailgate shut as well.
- Drain tubes clear the canister: Roll-N-Lock's one-piece design uses hidden seals, and water that gets past them is carried out of the bed by two drain tubes running from the canister to below the truck. Roll-N-Lock's sheets say the cover is not airtight and its warranty excludes water intrusion, so treat it as weather-resistant, not waterproof.
- Pull-strap close, three latch positions: To close it, pull the integrated strap from outside the bed until you can reach the handle, then draw the cover to the tailgate until it latches. Roll-N-Lock's patented ratchet-style latch also catches at two points along the way, three in all, so you can lock it part-open around a tall load.
- Clamps on, no rail drilling: The tracks clamp or bolt on with a truck-specific kit, so nothing is drilled into the bed rails. Most trucks still need a 1/2" hole for each drain tube, through a bulkhead plug or the bulkhead; a few use existing holes, and a plastic drop-in bedliner has to be cut. The install sheet for your truck shows exactly what yours needs.
Description & Fitment
The Roll-N-Lock A-Series (part BT101A) is an all-aluminum manual retractable tonneau cover for the 5'7" bed on the 2015-2020 Ford F-150 and 2017-2020 F-150 Raptor. A twist of the key lets the torsion spring roll it into the 7.25" canister, and the pull strap brings it back. A patented ratchet latch holds the cover at three points, so it can stay locked part-open around tall cargo. The tracks clamp to the bed rails, and Roll-N-Lock backs it with a 3-year limited warranty.
Fitment & Compatibility
| Years | Model | Bed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2015-2020 | F-150 | 5'7" (67.1") | β |
| 2017-2020 | F-150 Raptor | 5'7" (67.1") | β |
Check your bed: measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. This part is for the 5'7" bed on the 2015-2020 Ford F-150 and 2017-2020 Ford F-150 Raptor. Measured, that box is about 67.1" long.
Not for: the 6'7" bed (BT102A). 2009-2014 trucks with the same bed take BT111A.
About Roll-N-Lock
Roll-N-Lock makes retractable tonneau covers that roll into a canister at the front of the bed, plus the Cargo Manager bed divider that rides in their tracks. Every cover is built for one truck and one bed length.
The range covers the manual M-Series (vinyl over aluminum slats) and A-Series, the electric E-Series (5-year warranty), XT versions with T-slot rails for crossbars and racks, and the Cargo Manager. The M-Series and A-Series carry a 3-year limited warranty. The A-Series is the all-aluminum manual cover: two layers of powder-coated aluminum slats joined by a patented hinge.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit my 2015-2020 F-150 or 2017-2020 F-150 Raptor?
Yes, if it has the 5'7" bed, about 67.1" long. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. It is not for the 6'7" bed (BT102A). If you're unsure, send us your VIN and we'll confirm.
My truck is right at a model-year change. Which one do I need?
This part covers the 2015-2020 Ford F-150 and 2017-2020 Ford F-150 Raptor. 2009-2014 trucks with the same bed take BT111A. Go by your truck's model year, or send us your VIN.
How is the A-Series different from the M-Series?
The deck. The A-Series is all aluminum: two layers of slats joined by Roll-N-Lock's patented hinge, in a matte black powder coat. The M-Series puts an industrial-grade vinyl skin over aluminum slats. Both are manual retractables that roll into the same 7.25" canister, latch at three positions and lock with your tailgate, and Roll-N-Lock's install sheets cover both on the same truck.
Is the A-Series waterproof?
No, and Roll-N-Lock doesn't claim it is. Hidden seals and the patented hinge shed rain and snow, and two drain tubes carry water that gets past them out of the bed, but Roll-N-Lock's sheets say the cover is not airtight and its warranty excludes water intrusion. Keep the drain tubes and the canister clear of leaves and debris, and keep anything that must stay dry in a sealed tote.
How do I open and close it?
Twist the key at the rear latch and let the cover roll into the canister while you hold the pull strap. To close, pull the strap from outside the bed until you can reach the handle, then pull the cover to the tailgate until it latches. There is no release inside the bed, so never let anyone ride or climb in the bed with the cover closed, and don't put anything on top of the cover when you open or close it.
Will I have to drill into my truck?
Not into the bed rails: the tracks clamp or bolt on with the kit in the box. Most trucks do need a 1/2" hole drilled for each drain tube, through a bed plug or the bulkhead, and a plastic drop-in bedliner has to be cut and drilled. Some trucks, such as the 2019+ Ram 1500, use existing holes instead. The install sheet for your truck, linked on this page, shows exactly what yours needs.
Installation
- Jig saw
- 1/2" drill bit
- Drill with Phillips head
- Phillips screwdriver
- 7/16" wrench
- Tape measure
- Utility knife
Here's the short version. Follow Roll-N-Lock's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact measurements, hardware and part letters.
- Prep the bed. If you have a plastic drop-in bedliner, take it out, cut it across the bulkhead and at the tailgate end to the sheet's measurements with a jig saw, drill the five 1/2" holes it marks and put it back (Super Duty trucks also trim the tailgate protector). Center the housing between the bed rails against the bulkhead and lift off its lid.
- Fit the tracks. Bolt a track angle to each thread tang and set it loosely in its hole. Turn the lock to 10 o'clock (leave the plastic wing nut on), seat both tracks on the housing stems, butted against the housing, and fix each one with a cargo nut and #10-24 screw.
- Clamp loosely and slide back. Loosely attach the bed clamps and the track angle to the pre-installed track clamps with the 5/16" cap screws and lock washers (Super Duty adds a flat washer). Close the tailgate and slide the housing back until the track ends touch it. On a Super Duty, notch the tailgate lip 3/4" at each end.
- Set the spacing and tighten. Use the cargo shield notches to set the inside track-to-track width, leave 1/8" between the track end caps and the tailgate, and square the tracks with the shims if needed. Tighten the back clamp to 70 in-lb (8 Nm) and the bed clamps to 62 in-lb (7 Nm) with the 1/4" Allen wrench, without over-tightening.
- Close it and refit the lid. Turn the lock to 7 o'clock, take off the plastic wing nut and throw it away, then pull the cover back to the tailgate with both hands. Set the lid back on the housing and fit its two lid screws, then peel the backing off the cargo shield and screw it to the bottom of the housing with the black rubber washers.
- Run the drains and strap. Drill a 1/2" hole through the plug at the bulkhead on each side (never into the cab), feed each drain tube through toward the ground and onto the housing fitting, clear of the cab vents, and treat the holes against rust. Clip the pull strap to a rear tie-down near the tailgate.
