Description & Fitment

TeraFlex's Alpine IR Long Arm & Brackets sets for the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK come as a front set (1957100) or a rear set (1957200), each pairing Alpine IR long control arms with Alpine long arm brackets for that end of the Jeep. The arms carry TeraFlex's IR (Independent Rotation) bushings and are made from 42mm x 4mm (upper) and 50mm x 5mm (lower) wall DOM tube. They suit 3"-6" lifts and can be added to an existing lift; fitting the brackets requires cutting and welding.

About TeraFlex

TERAFLEX.

TeraFlex describes itself as a Jeep company at heart, started and staffed by people who drive them. It designs, engineers and builds suspension systems, shocks, axles and performance parts, with the Wrangler and Gladiator at the center of the range.

The company traces its roots to the 1950s and MEPCO (Military Equipment Parts Company), an early supplier of Jeep parts. TeraFlex Manufacturing followed in 1996 to build heavy-duty suspension for the TJ Wrangler, and today's catalog runs from full lift systems and the Falcon shock line to axles, steering and armor.

Authorized TeraFlex dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine TeraFlex. In TeraFlex's words, its limited warranty extends "only to the consumer who originally purchased the product," so keep your receipt with your build records.

Installation

Install time 6 hours
What's involvedLower the fuel tank, remove all control arms, cut off the stock arm brackets and weld on the long arm brackets and frame gussets (structural welding). Install the long arms and torque the arm and track bar bolts with the Jeep on the ground.
Tools
  • Basic mechanics tool set
  • Cutting torch or equivalent
  • Welder
  • Grinder with flapper wheel

Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.

  1. With the Jeep low on fuel, lift it, mark and remove the drivelines if you are replacing them, lower the rear axle with a strap around the pinion, and drop the fuel tank after disconnecting the EVAP, electrical and fuel lines (the supply line may be under pressure; cap all open lines, p4).
  2. Remove all control arms, tuck wiring looms and fuel lines out of the way, cut off the stock control arm brackets without cutting into the frame, and grind the surfaces smooth.
  3. Clamp the parts tight to the frame and tack weld around them, then weld the rear frame gussets, the rear brackets and the front brackets (indexed to the frame hole and the cross-member's longer bolts); avoid long vertical welds and paint the welds (p7). This kit requires structural welding.
  4. 2010-2011 models: cut out and reposition the large catalytic converter so the O2 sensor stays reachable and clears the new bracket, then rejoin the pipe with the 2.5" section moved to the front (p10).
  5. Refit the front shocks and install the long arms with new hardware at the frame brackets and the original hardware at the axle (rear uppers usually in the lower holes, rear lowers bends up and in); torque the cross-member bolts to 90 ft-lbs and the skid plate to 48 ft-lbs (p8).
  6. Refit the fuel tank (straps 30 ft-lbs) and drivelines on their marks (15 ft-lbs transfer case and rear, 81 ft-lbs front axle), then on the ground torque the track bars and lower and rear upper arms to 125 ft-lbs and the front uppers to 75 ft-lbs.
