Features

  • Weight off the shafts: The full-float design carries the vehicle on the spindles, not the axle shafts.
  • Twin-bearing 4140 spindles: Forged chromoly spindles spread the load across two bearings.
  • 4340 chromoly shafts: Case-hardened shafts drive the wheels without carrying the vehicle's weight.
  • Standard bearings and seals: The spindles use common, industry-standard bearings and seals.
  • Factory brakes and sensors: Keeps the OEM park brake, calipers, pads and all factory sensors.
  • 30 or 32 spline, solid or slotted: Four versions to match your differential and rotor choice.

Description & Fitment

This TeraFlex kit converts a JK Dana 44 rear axle to an 8-lug full-float setup with big rotors. Twin-bearing forged 4140 chromoly spindles carry the vehicle weight, so the case-hardened 4340 chromoly shafts only transmit torque. Pick the spline count and rotor: 3043000 solid / 30-spline, 3043100 slotted / 30-spline, 3043200 solid / 32-spline or 3043300 slotted / 32-spline. TeraFlex lists the 30-spline kits (3043000, 3043100) for JK Sport and Sahara models and the 32-spline kits (3043200, 3043300) for JK Rubicon models.

About TeraFlex

TERAFLEX.

TeraFlex describes itself as a Jeep company at heart, started and staffed by people who drive them. It designs, engineers and builds suspension systems, shocks, axles and performance parts, with the Wrangler and Gladiator at the center of the range.

The company traces its roots to the 1950s and MEPCO (Military Equipment Parts Company), an early supplier of Jeep parts. TeraFlex Manufacturing followed in 1996 to build heavy-duty suspension for the TJ Wrangler, and today's catalog runs from full lift systems and the Falcon shock line to axles, steering and armor.

Authorized TeraFlex dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine TeraFlex. In TeraFlex's words, its limited warranty extends "only to the consumer who originally purchased the product," so keep your receipt with your build records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it fit a Rubicon?

Yes, with the 32-spline kits: TeraFlex lists 3043200 and 3043300 for JK Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon models, and 3043000 and 3043100 (30-spline) for Sport and Sahara models.

30 or 32 spline?

Match your differential or locker: 3043000 and 3043100 are 30-spline, 3043200 and 3043300 are 32-spline.

How do I pick the right part number?

Each listing names the axle, size, spline count, side and lift range TeraFlex lists for that part number. Match it to your Jeep and current setup, or send us your VIN and build details and we'll check before you order.

Who should install it?

TeraFlex recommends a certified mechanic. Follow the TeraFlex instructions for the part, and take any torque values from those instructions or your service manual.

What if it arrives damaged?

Check the packaging and the part before you sign, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and contact us right away. We will sort out a replacement with you.

Is this genuine TeraFlex?

Yes. We are an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so every part ships new and genuine.

Installation

Install time 5 hours
What's involvedRemove the rear brakes, axle shafts and backing plates, drill and plug weld the axle tubes to secure the new full-float spindles, then fit the hubs, bearings, shafts and brakes and refill the differential.
Tools
  • Basic mechanics tool set
  • Welder
  • One ton spindle nut socket
  • 1/2" drill bit and drill

Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.

  1. Disconnect the e-brake cable, raise and support the vehicle and axle, remove the wheels, drain the differential and remove the calipers, anchor brackets and rotors.
  2. Remove the wheel speed sensor without unplugging it, pull the axle shaft (the reversed rotor can act as a slide hammer), the backing plate and the bearing race.
  3. Pack the tube with shop towels, drill a 1/2" hole on both sides about 1" from the flange, deburr, remove all shavings, coat the spindle's raised section with silicone and drive it in until fully seated (p8).
  4. Refit the backing plate and spindle retainer with the longer M12 bolts at 45 ft-lbs in a cross pattern, plug weld both holes, reattach the e-brake cable, and fit the greased hub, outer bearing and inner lock nut.
  5. Seat the inner nut at 50 ft-lbs while turning the hub, back it off 90 degrees and align the pin to the lock washer, torque the outer nut to 160-205 ft-lbs, then fit the shaft with silicone on the hub face and the eight 7/16" bolts with thread lock at 95 ft-lbs.
  6. Install the rotor, bracket, sensor, greased pads and caliper (26 ft-lbs), wheels at 135 ft-lbs, then fill the differential and flood each hub by raising each side 6" for a minute; recheck fluid after about 15 miles and lug nuts after 100.
