Description & Fitment

The TeraFlex Front Big Brake Kit upgrades the front brakes of a 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK or JK Unlimited that runs larger, heavier wheel and tire packages; TeraFlex calls it a must for 33" to 35" tires. Per the TeraFlex parts list it supplies two 13.3" front rotors, two big brake calipers, two anchor brackets and pads with clips. Choose plain vented rotors (4303400) or a slotted driver and passenger pair (4303420). The rotors are drilled for both 5x5" and 5x5.5" bolt patterns, and the kit needs wheels of at least 17".

About TeraFlex

TERAFLEX.

TeraFlex describes itself as a Jeep company at heart, started and staffed by people who drive them. It designs, engineers and builds suspension systems, shocks, axles and performance parts, with the Wrangler and Gladiator at the center of the range.

The company traces its roots to the 1950s and MEPCO (Military Equipment Parts Company), an early supplier of Jeep parts. TeraFlex Manufacturing followed in 1996 to build heavy-duty suspension for the TJ Wrangler, and today's catalog runs from full lift systems and the Falcon shock line to axles, steering and armor.

Authorized TeraFlex dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine TeraFlex. In TeraFlex's words, its limited warranty extends "only to the consumer who originally purchased the product," so keep your receipt with your build records.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wheels does it need?

TeraFlex requires a wheel diameter of at least 17" to clear the larger rotor and caliper.

Do I need a new master cylinder?

On 2007-2011 JK models TeraFlex recommends upgrading to Mopar's oversized-bore brake master cylinder kit (68091278AE). It is not included with this kit.

Which rotor option should I pick?

Both kits share the calipers, brackets and pads. 4303400 has plain vented rotors; 4303420 has slotted rotors made as a driver and passenger pair.

How quickly does it ship?

Shipping is free to the lower 48 states, and most orders arrive within 1-5 business days. We email your tracking number as soon as it ships.

Can you confirm it's the right part before I order?

Yes. Send us your VIN or year, model and trim, plus your lift height, wheel size and axle, and we'll check it against TeraFlex's fitment information before it ships.

Should I install brake parts myself?

TeraFlex asks you to read its instructions fully before you start and recommends installation by a certified mechanic. Brakes are safety parts, so whoever does the work should test the pedal and the brakes at low speed before normal driving.

Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.

  1. Safely raise and support the Jeep, remove the front wheels, and crack then re-snug the 15mm banjo bolt on the brake line so it is easier to swap later.
  2. Remove the factory caliper and anchor bracket (21mm), hang the caliper from the frame with a zip tie rather than the hose, and remove the factory rotor, breaking off any retainers.
  3. Fit the new rotor (slotted rotors oriented as shown, mirrored side to side) and prep the TeraFlex caliper: remove one pin bolt (14mm, hold the pin with 17mm), swing the caliper open, peel the pad backing and grease the anchor bracket pad contact points, keeping grease off the rotor and pads (p4).
  4. Mount the anchor bracket and caliper with pads to the knuckle with the factory 21mm bolts at 120 ft-lbs, bleeder valve up, and refit the pin bolt at 26 ft-lbs (p4).
  5. Move the brake line from the factory caliper to the new one with the factory banjo bolt and two new copper washers at 23 ft-lbs; repeat on the other side and bleed the brakes by standard procedure.
  6. Bed in the pads and rotors where there is no traffic: ten stops from 30 to 10 mph about 30 seconds apart, cool 15 minutes, then five stops from 60 to 15 mph half a mile apart and cool 30 minutes.
