Description & Fitment
TeraFlex's HD Chromoly Tie Rod Kit replaces the factory tie rod on a 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK or JK Unlimited with a Dana 30/44 front axle and up to 6" of lift. The 1-5/8" OD tie rod is heat-treated 4140 chromoly steel that TeraFlex rates at more than 200% stronger than stock, with a JK-specific forged housing. Its end joints use TeraFlex ball joint construction with adjustable preload, and rotation is limited to 14 degrees to reduce tie rod roll. A steering stabilizer relocation bracket for the 1-5/8" tie rod is included and clears factory 17" wheels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with a Falcon Nexus EF stabilizer?
Not with the included relocation bracket. TeraFlex says you need the Falcon 1-5/8" Steering Stabilizer Tie Rod Clamp Kit (99-01-01-158).
Do I need a drag link flip kit?
It may. TeraFlex lists the HD Forged Drag Link Flip Kit (1853905 with tie rod, 1853930 without) as a possible requirement, and other changes may be needed to keep steering geometry correct.
How long does install take?
TeraFlex estimates about 1.5 hours.
What warranty does TeraFlex give?
TeraFlex covers its ball joints, tie rods, tie rod ends and drag links for life against defects in materials and workmanship, and paint and powder coat finishes for 90 days. For knuckles, pitman arms, clamps and skid plates, contact us and we'll confirm the term before you order.

Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.
- Chock the rear tires, raise and support the front of the Jeep so the tires are off the ground, and remove the front wheels.
- Prepare the HD tie rod: fit the dust boot retaining spring (one per end) and the set screw plugs (two per end) with blue thread locker on the set screws; the spare O-rings are for later maintenance.
- Remove the steering stabilizer, back the tie rod end nuts off a few threads (21mm), and strike the knuckle casting around the stud (never the stud or threads) until the tie rod drops free; then remove the nuts and the tie rod.
- Measure the factory tie rod center to center and set the new tie rod to match as closely as possible; with upgraded brake rotors, trim the backing plate to clear (cut-off wheel or tin snips).
- Install the new tie rod and torque the tie rod end nuts to 63 ft-lbs.
- Recheck the length against the factory tie rod, tighten the jam nuts so both ends return to neutral without binding, grease the joints and fit the #344408 grease zerk dust cover; TeraFlex highly recommends a professional alignment.

TeraFlex covers ball joints, tie rods, tie rod ends and drag links for life against defects in materials and workmanship, and paint and powder coat finishes for 90 days (defects only).- TeraFlex extends its limited warranty only to the consumer who first bought the product, and only on the vehicle the part was first installed on. It does not pass to a later owner.
- Coverage starts on the purchase date and does not restart if a part is repaired or replaced.
- For a covered defect, TeraFlex will either repair or replace the product (or the faulty part) free of charge or refund the purchase price, at its discretion, and it pays the freight to send a repaired or replacement part back to you.
- Not covered: damage from transportation, storage, improper use, skipped instructions or preventive maintenance, modifications, unauthorized repair, normal wear and tear, product finish, improper installation or maintenance, racing or competition, or accidents, abuse and neglect. Improper installation, poor maintenance, racing or competition use, and neglect or abuse void the warranty.
- Paint and powder coat finishes carry 90 days of defect coverage only, not wear from use.
- Claims: contact us first. Keep your proof of purchase or original invoice; removing the part from the vehicle and the inbound shipping are the owner's responsibility.
