About TeraFlex
TeraFlex describes itself as a Jeep company at heart, started and staffed by people who drive them. It designs, engineers and builds suspension systems, shocks, axles and performance parts, with the Wrangler and Gladiator at the center of the range.
The company traces its roots to the 1950s and MEPCO (Military Equipment Parts Company), an early supplier of Jeep parts. TeraFlex Manufacturing followed in 1996 to build heavy-duty suspension for the TJ Wrangler, and today's catalog runs from full lift systems and the Falcon shock line to axles, steering and armor.
Authorized TeraFlex dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine TeraFlex. In TeraFlex's words, its limited warranty extends "only to the consumer who originally purchased the product," so keep your receipt with your build records.
Frequently Asked Questions
What lift is it for?
TeraFlex lists this housing for JK models with 0"-3" of lift.
What do I reuse from my old axle?
Your differential, ring and pinion, axle shafts, stub shafts, knuckle assemblies, ball joints, unit bearings, brakes and sensors.
How do I pick the right part number?
Each listing names the axle, size, spline count, side and lift range TeraFlex lists for that part number. Match it to your Jeep and current setup, or send us your VIN and build details and we'll check before you order.
Who should install it?
TeraFlex recommends a certified mechanic. Follow the TeraFlex instructions for the part, and take any torque values from those instructions or your service manual.
What if it arrives damaged?
Check the packaging and the part before you sign, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and contact us right away. We will sort out a replacement with you.
Is this genuine TeraFlex?
Yes. We are an authorized TeraFlex dealer, so every part ships new and genuine.
Installation
Here's the short version. Follow TeraFlex's install sheet (below) for your Jeep's exact steps and torque values.
- Prepare the housing using the factory service manual: ring and pinion setup is the same as a factory axle, and ball joints are not included, so swap in the factory ones or fit new (TeraFlex recommends new HD ball joints).
- Fit any extras the build needs: the Locker Sensor and Airline Plug kit (4350550) for an ARB RD157 or OX locker in the R44, and the larger 360044 inner seals for 35-spline shafts.
- Install the axle without springs or bump stops, leave the track bar and control arm bolts loose, mount the tires and cycle the suspension through full compression and articulation to check every clearance.
- Fit the bump stop extensions, limit straps and springs, then with the Jeep at ride height torque the track bar and lower control arm bolts to 125 ft-lbs and the front upper control arm bolts to 75 ft-lbs.
- Route the brake lines and ABS wiring clear of moving parts, set the steering stops, fill the differential with 80W-90 gear oil and align the vehicle.
- Break the gears in: stay under 60 mph for about the first 100 miles, let the differential cool after the first 20 miles (repeat a few times), avoid towing for 500 miles and change the oil at 500 miles.
