Features

16,500 lb with Synthetic Line
The highest-capacity truck winch Warn builds, running 80' of 3/8" Spydura Pro rather than 7/16" wire. Synthetic carries almost no stored energy under tension, so a failure at 16,500 lb drops the line rather than sending it back down the recovery. At this capacity that is the argument, and it is not a small one.

Thermometric Indicator: Feedback Instead of Guesswork
The remote reads motor temperature back to the operator. Every electric winch has a thermal duty cycle and most owners find its edge by cooking a motor mid-recovery. The 16.5ti-S shows you the temperature climbing so you can pause, which matters most on exactly the long, heavy pulls this winch was bought for.

EPIC Hook Rated to 18,000 lb
Warn specifies an 18,000 lb capacity EPIC hook on this winch, deliberately above the winch's own 16,500 lb rating so the hook is not the limit. The forged alloy body has a wide throat for the shackles and straps used at this capacity, and the latch is designed to stay shut under side load.

Extreme-Duty Sealing
What ends most winches is not load, it is water and grit reaching the motor, gearbox or brake. The ti-series is built around keeping them out, and the 16.5ti-S carries the aluminum solenoid housing cover that replaced the older plastic part.

315:1 Three-Stage Planetary with a Best-in-Class Cone Brake
A 315:1 reduction is how the series-wound motor makes 16,500 lb of line pull, and the automatic direct-drive cone brake holds the load on the drum instead of leaning on the gearbox to creep back. Stopping mid-recovery on a slope to re-rig is exactly when that matters.

Installation

Type: Bolt-in to a winch plate, winch-ready bumper or winch carrier, plus a battery connection  ·  Time: About 1 to 2 hours with the mount already fitted  ·  Tools: Socket and wrench set, torque wrench, and a second person or a hoist, because the winch is heavy  ·  Difficulty: Intermediate

Bolt the winch to a plate or bumper rated for a large-frame Heavyweight winch on the 10" x 4.5" pattern and torque to Warn's spec. Fit the hawse fairlead so the rope passes through without touching an edge, and check the aperture for burrs before the first pull, because a sharp edge is the main thing that destroys synthetic rope. Run the 2 gauge leads to the battery clear of exhaust, steering and suspension travel, and make every high-current connection clean and tight, because at 507 amps a poor terminal costs real pulling speed. Route the remote lead so the thermometric readout is visible from where you will stand during a recovery. Cycle the clutch and run the winch both directions under no load first.

About Warn
