- Large frame, heavy-duty drum supports: The M12 and M15 are built on Warn's large Heavyweight frame, with stout supports at both drum ends and carrier plates Warn engineered for the gear-train stress of a full-capacity pull. Both models share one 24.08" x 10.53" x 9.79" body.
- 4.6 hp series-wound motor: A 12V, 4.6 hp series-wound motor turns a 3-stage planetary geartrain. Warn charts the M12 at 30 ft/min with no load and the M15, geared deeper at 315:1 against the M12's 261:1, at 22.2 ft/min.
- Cone brake holds full load: An automatic direct-drive cone brake takes over when you let go of the switch and holds the full rated load: 12,000 lb on the M12, 15,000 lb on the M15.
- Remote-mountable control pack: The Albright contactor sits in a removable control pack. It can ride on the winch or be moved off it when bumper space is tight, using the bracket and instructions that come with Warn's mounting kit.
- Argent Gray powder coat: The housing is finished in Argent Gray powder coat, which Warn picked for chip resistance and to keep corrosion at bay on a winch that faces road spray all year.
- Lifetime mechanical warranty coverage: Warn covers the mechanical parts for the life of the winch and the electrical parts for 7 years, both as limited warranties. Your Prestige Truck receipt is the proof of purchase Warn asks for.

Part 47801 is the steel-rope M15, rated at 15,000 lb on the first layer. It carries 90' of 7/16" aircraft-grade wire rope with a latched hook and a roller fairlead, on the same 24.08" Heavyweight frame as the M12 but geared deeper at 315:1 for the extra 3,000 lb.

Choose the right version: this is the M15 with steel wire rope. Synthetic rope and a hawse fairlead: M15-S (97730). 12,000 lb with 125' of steel rope: M12 (17801). Warn's 24V CE M15 is a different part (478022).
Not included: the winch mount or mounting plate (with the bracket Warn uses for a remote-mounted control pack) and the vehicle battery, both sold separately.

How much pull on each layer?
Warn's chart gives 15,000 lb on layer 1, 12,273 lb on layer 2, 10,385 lb on layer 3, 9,000 lb on layer 4 and 7,941 lb on layer 5.
What does it draw at full load?
460 amps at 15,000 lb, with the line moving 2.48 ft/min. With no load Warn charts 22.2 ft/min at 67 amps.
What do I mount it to?
Warn's Heavyweight guide shows the winch on a smooth, flat plate drilled to the standard 10" x 4.5" four-bolt pattern. The plate or bumper is not part of this listing, so plan on a Warn mounting kit or a compatible mount with that pattern.
What bolts and torque are specified?
Use 7/16-14 class 8.8 metric (grade 5) or better bolts tightened to 50-55 ft. lbs. (68-75 Nm). Warn's bolt-length table calls for 1.5" bolts on a 5/16" or 3/8" plate and 1.75" bolts on a 1/2" plate. Never weld the bolts.
When does the wiring go on?
Last. Warn says to finish bolting down the winch and attach the hook first. Keep the red power and black ground cables clear of sharp edges, hot parts and moving parts, and put the supplied boots on every terminal.
How do the M12 and M15 differ?
They share the frame, motor, drum and 10" x 4.5" pattern. The M15 adds 3,000 lb of rated pull through its 315:1 gearing, so it is slower: Warn charts 22.2 ft/min with no load against 30 ft/min for the M12.

Before mounting, check the winch, rope, fairlead, hook, remote switch, control pack and 72" battery leads for shipping damage, then read Warn's Heavyweight Winch Installation Guide for the bolt sizes, torque and control-pack options. Check it as soon as it arrives.- Look for crushed ends, punctures or tears in the carton.
- If something looks wrong, take photos of the box and the parts (and if a driver asks you to sign, note the damage on the receipt).
- Open the box and check the parts against the parts list before you install.
